UNL racial justice minor features ‘How to Be Antiracist’ classStudents at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) can take a course titled “How to Be Antiracist” as part of a racial justice, equity, and inclusion minor.Ethnic Studies 101, which is a three-credit course, examines “issues related to racism and antiracism,” according to the university catalog. Topics include “the history of U.S. racial conflict, whiteness, white fragility, white allyship, white abolitionism, and community action.”The course is listed as part of UNL’s Racial Justice, Equity, and Inclusion minor, which the school says gives students “an academic credential in diversity, equity, and inclusion training.”The university states that students pursuing the minor will study “the history, politics, and culture” of racial and ethnic groups, including African Americans, Latin Americans, and Native Americans. The program also says students will also develop “confidence in having difficult conversations about race, privilege, and cultural difference.”The minor requires at least 18 credit hours and includes courses from several departments, including ethnic studies, history, political science, and sociology.UNL’s Institute for Ethnic Studies also lists “How to Be Antiracist” among its notable courses on its main web page.The university’s 2025-2026 cost of attendance page lists annual tuition and fees at $11,382 for Nebraska residents and $31,182 for non-residents.
