This is just more basically meaningless virtue signaling for the left to feel better about themselves.
Campus Reform reports:
Augsburg University mobilized campus-wide response to ICE by expanding support system for immigrant studentsAugsburg University in Minnesota mobilized a campus-wide response to federal immigration enforcement operations, expanding accommodations and support systems for immigrant students amid heightened ICE activity near campus.According to a report from the Sahan Journal, university officials anticipated that the Minneapolis-based campus could become a focal point during “Operation Metro Surge,” a federal immigration enforcement effort launched under the Trump administration. As part of “Operation Metro Surge,” some Augsburg students were detained in December 2025 by ICE officials, with the university releasing a statement claiming that “without producing a warrant, an armed, masked group of ICE agents targeted an undergraduate student and confronted members of our community directly outside a residence hall.”“These tactics, with the implicit threat of violence, are unacceptable, dangerous, and profoundly disturbing,” the university added in its statement.University officials claimed federal agents arrived in unmarked vehicles, carried long guns, and allegedly pointed weapons at students and staff during the operation.Following the incident, Augsburg administrators and student leaders implemented a series of support measures designed to help immigrant and international students continue attending school despite fears surrounding immigration enforcement. The university increased online course offerings, provided additional counseling services, organized “Know Your Rights” workshops, and connected students with immigration attorneys at no cost, according to reporting from Augsburg’s student publication, The Echo. The Echo reported that administrators told students during a town hall meeting not to hold doors open for others on campus while also displaying a map charting tunnels and skyways so students could navigate campus without going outside.Augsburg’s tunnel and skyway systems were highlighted during the meeting. It was also discussed that some faculty members reportedly moved classes online or adjusted assignments in response to student anxiety over ICE operations. Staff members volunteered extra hours on campus to create what university officials described as a “presence of care and safety.”
