Public Health Officials Freak Out Over New COVID Variant

Public Health Officials Freak Out Over New COVID Variant

Here we go again!

Here we go again.

Public health officials warned of a new COVID variant, BA.3.2, or “cicada,” that could evade vaccines.

Here’s the thing. They don’t know for sure that the variant can evade the vaccine, but hey, why not stir the pot?

For crying out loud:

“We don’t know yet if it can evade the vaccine, but we’re worried that it can,” [Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine’s Dr. Marc J.] Kahn said.

The new variant comes amidst allergy season. Some symptoms overlap, like sneezing and runny eyes. However, there are some differentiating factors.

“Most infections like COVID have some of those symptoms, but also tend to have sore throat and fever,” Kahn said.

Cicada is a growth of the BA 3 variant, which first appeared four years ago.

Officials detected the variant in wastewater in 25 states.

However, the CDC detected the variant in only four travelers who provided voluntary nasal swabs.

So, yeah.

Every virus mutates. It’s trying to survive, which means it has to change and adapt.

You know, something most humans cannot or refuse to do these days.

In other words, we’ll always see new COVID mutations, as we do with the flu.

I enjoy writing about these variants only because we can laugh at people.

Can’t evade a vaccine I never took

Must be an election year

Yes, the timing is right, isn’t it?

That, or the war is going badly and we’re not being told the truth.

As for the subhead “here we go again”, that was exactly my thinking before I even opened the article.

If the war is going badly, how come it’s Iran that’s calling for negotiations?

Obviously they don’t want to beat us too badly. Who would play their Great Satan if they actually defeated us? Think of all the terrorists out of work if they can’t try to blow up Jews and Americans anymore?

Hmm… Lockdown 2.0 could be the trigger event many have predicted and/or expected.

Yeah I haven’t had a vax in 5 years.

I could give a rat’s hindquarters about getting a “cold” when I’m over here battling Juniper pollen in a very dry, very windy, spring.

Generic flonase containing fluticasone works wonders. A six pack at Sams was ~$24 a month ago.

Yeah, I take that along with Xyzal, Singulair and Lastacaft eye drops. I can get past the runny nose and fatigue but it hits my eyes really hard and nothing works. I spend 6 weeks looking like I have two black eyes. I have to wear WileyX Airrage sunglasses/clears when I go outside to keep that crap out of my eyes.

One small nitpicky nuance.

Viruses aren’t alive and aren’t “trying to survive”

They simply exist and mutate as a result of a rapid and less regulated form of nucleic acid cycling and cloning. That variants “select” and “evade” is a function of the host organism(s) rather than the virus itself.

Fortunately viruses can’t vote……if they could the Dems would be importing more. They got a huge gain with Covid.

DaveGinOly in reply to healthguyfsu. | April 2, 2026 at 2:25 pm

This is why the variant is likely able to evade vaccine-induced and/or natural immunity – variants thrive and become dominant in the environment because they have more success at evading their hosts’ immune systems than those variants that are less successful or not successful at evading hosts’ immune systems. Evolution depends on both genetic mutations (which occur regularly in all organism, and are random) and selection pressure. Selection pressure is provided by a changing environment. That pressure can come from the physical environment (climate), predators (which is why some mice can withstand doses of snake venom several times that which would kill a human – they’ve evolved to become more resistant to the venom as the snakes’ venom becomes more potent – the species are in an arms race), or host immune systems. It’s this pressure that “selects” the most able variant by trimming away variants that have less success in the environment.

“Here we go again.”

No.

That’s not happening again in my lifetime.

Oh I suspect the wanna be tyrants and Covid Karens would love to do it. They’ll use any excuse to try and assert control. The good part for us (and maybe the bad part for them) is that they’ll once again publicly identify themselves. Makes that whole push for a Covid Amnesty seem exactly what it was, delayed/abandoned reckoning.

“Trump is still President….cue the next pandemic!”

Public Health Officials Freak Out Become Aroused Over New COVID Variant

Yeah, but it must be a big letdown that it isn’t driving a surge in hospitalizations or deaths. What good is a new variant if it is no more severe than the old variants. They need to get something really deadly in circulation that can inspire some fear. Maybe the IRGC will release a MERS-COVID hybrid for final revenge if their regime goes down in flames.

How does it evade a “vaccine” that doesn’t work to begin with?

isfoss in reply to gospace. | April 2, 2026 at 9:41 am

After all the research that has recently come out regarding the dangers of the covid vaccine, media are still getting the word out “get vaxxed” and “be safe.” Yeah, we could have a Covid Plandemic Part II right before the midterms..

For the rest of us….IVM. Gosh… over a year ago or so I wrote of a Stage 3 ovarian cancer patient told that no further treatment would help. Her personal doc put her on IVM and the Ca-125 marker dropped and she is still doing well.

This is old news, read about it 2 weeks ago

destroycommunism | April 2, 2026 at 10:29 am

Lets see who is or has been more successful

With C19 the Dems…even with a DJT in the wh…ran the show

censorship doxxing loss of jobs street movement jobs open or closed and the biggieeee

blmplo allowed to roam and do their thang while humans were shut down

NOW we have the usa doing its best to defangfang one of the nucleus of the proxies of terror..Iran

and still the Dems run the show…shutdown tsa ice…yup

amplifying (causing??) travel horrors with hits and misses of aircraft

the continued on our face black matriarchy “logic” that shuts down maga

yet we are winning but if the score is announced incorrectly ( intentional or not)

the mood of the country is affected

we must get the gop especially at the local levels to stop this voucher nonsense and stop funding public schools

the left knows that having the kids on their side is the absolute basic fundamental to controlling our country

We don’t know if it can evade the vaccine, but we’re afraid it can…

Well, how’s about you get your tuchus back to the lab and do some work. Then get back to us when you have something a little more solid than arrant speculation, hmmm?

Mein Gott! These people are professionals?

If it isn’t causing a surge in hospitalizations (and it isn’t or we would have heard about it), then it is a nothingburger.

eek eek COVID!! put on your mask and hide in the basement with Joe Biden’s corpse.

We’re all going to die! Break out the masks, open the prisons, stay home, except to take to the streets in “mostly peaceful” protests, ramp up election fraud, bring back Tony Fauci to save us!

Bruce Hayden | April 2, 2026 at 1:32 pm

The new variant will likely evade the “vaccines”. The “vaccines” are so narrow that (just two proteins) they were easily mutated around within months of widespread applications. Delta by August had 50% cross reactivity. Omicron by December had 10%.

But the good news is that these “vaccines” appear to be more dangerous to the bulk of the population than the mutated virus (which gets progressively less deadly as it continues to mutate). And many in this country, and especially at the top of the US govt, know this.

DaveGinOly in reply to Bruce Hayden. | April 2, 2026 at 2:35 pm

“The “vaccines” are so narrow that (just two proteins) they were easily mutated around within months of widespread applications.”

Absolutely true. This is why targeting a single protein (the “spike” protein) for attack made no sense to me. All that is required is a change in that single protein (caused by one or two changes in the genes that code for the protein, and, presto, a vaccine-evading variant arises.

Compare this to natural immunity, in which the immune system breaks apart the virus and learns to recognize and fight several antigens (proteins of the virus) rather than just one or two. It’s like the difference between having a single-number key to a vault and having an 8 or 12 digit combination. Mutations occur randomly in a virus. The likelihood of one occurring that will defeat a highly specific immune response is high. The odds of a virus having the necessary mutations in genes encoding for a dozen proteins in order to evade an immune response is low. The higher-digit combination is harder to break.

ztakddot in reply to DaveGinOly. | April 2, 2026 at 3:55 pm

Well it isn’t exactly all or nothing. Changes in an antigen may render antibodies (there are likely multiple ones) partially effective. It may also render some or all of them ineffective.

Some viruses may have multiple antigens. Some may have a single one. It depends upon the complexity of the virus.

Fortunately virus strains of covid and flu to name 2 seem to become less virulent with time and mutation.

What do you want the CDC to do? Sit on information? It is their job to follow diseases and report on them. Ignoring Fauci how that information is used and possibly abused is the province of the politicians and the media.

Aw! But this one’s so pretty!
