Psychology Chair at UNC-Asheville Says DEI Was Rebranded in Department

“has been rebranded in his department contrary to UNC System rules”

So many schools are doing this and thinking that no one sees what’s happening.

Campus Reform reports:

UNC Asheville psychology chair says DEI was rebranded in department

A psychology professor at the University of North Carolina at Asheville (UNC Asheville) has admitted in an undercover video that faculty members in his department are teaching rebranded Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles.

The university told Campus Reform that it will not pursue disciplinary action against the professor.

Accuracy in Media (AIM), a conservative watchdog organization, published the video on Monday, April 20. The video shows Mark Harvey, the chair and a professor of psychology at UNC Asheville, claiming that DEI has been rebranded in his department contrary to UNC System rules.

“The radical ideas behind DEI divide us rather than unite us,” AIM President Adam Guillette said in comments to Campus Reform.

“According to a Rutgers study, they pit people against one another and cause us to see racism where it doesn’t exist,” he continued. “Most importantly, these Marxist ideas are entirely at odds with the principles our nation was founded upon.”

The video was recorded without Harvey’s knowledge. Campus Reform emailed Harvey about whether he wanted to clarify any of his comments. Harvey replied that he had forwarded the email to the university’s communications department.

In the video, Harvey says that he would “be lying if I said, ‘oh no, DEI is just the way it’s always been.’ It is, but it’s more … it’s still here, but it’s like the ‘E’ is gone, but the ‘D’ and the ‘I’ are still here.”

The “E” refers to “equity,” while the “D” and the “I” refer to “diversity” and “inclusion.”

“In my department, I have a couple of people who teach stuff that’s, like, central to DEI,” he says at another part of the interview. He agreed with the undercover journalist that topics such as “oppression” and “anti-racism” must be taught.

Comments

No surprise. There is only one way to remove DEI from academia – shut down all the so-called schools and let them lie fallow for a couple of generations.

Turn Asheville to salt. That’s what it needs.

My mind’s eye pictures all of those angry lesbians packing up their Subarus and heading who knows where.

(When I resided in Johnson City I’d drive over the hill to Asheville for the Trader Joe’s. I never saw so many angry people in one place!)
