President Trump Announces 10-Day Ceasefire Between Israel and Lebanon

Trump: “Both sides want to see PEACE, and I believe that will happen, quickly!”

Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire, President Donald Trump announced Thursday.

“U.S. President Donald Trump announced a 10-day pause in fighting between Israel and Lebanon starting on Thursday at 5 p.m. ET, following ‘excellent’ conversations he had with each nation’s leader,” the Associated Press reported.

The temporary ceasefire halts a 45-day conflict that erupted after the Iranian-backed terrorist group Hezbollah attacked Israel, drawing Lebanon into the war.

CNBC News covered the details:

The leaders of Israel and Lebanon agreed to a 10-day ceasefire after officials from the two countries met in Washington, President Donald Trump said Thursday.

The temporary truce will start at 5 p.m. ET, Trump said in a Truth Social post.

In a follow-up, Trump added that he will be inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Joseph Aoun of Lebanon to the White House “for the first meaningful talks between Israel and Lebanon since 1983, a very long time ago.”

“Both sides want to see PEACE, and I believe that will happen, quickly!” Trump wrote.

During the truce, the Israeli military will retain the security buffer zone in southern Lebanon, created after driving Hezbollah terrorists along Israel’s northern border. “Under the terms outlined so far, the ceasefire is temporary and not a permanent agreement,” Israel’s Ynetnews reported. “The IDF is expected to remain in its current positions in southern Lebanon, up to the Litani River, and will not withdraw during the truce.”

According to the news website, it “remains to be seen whether IDF forces will hold static positions during the truce or retain the ability to carry out limited operations if needed, underscoring the fragile and uncertain nature of the ceasefire.”

The Lebanese government has proven to be an unreliable partner for Israel. Although Beirut pledged to disarm Hezbollah by the end of 2025 under the November 2024 ceasefire agreement, the terrorist group has been rebuilding itself. According to the Jerusalem Post, Hezbollah has instead been “replenishing weapons supplies, and recruiting and training new fighters.”

If it fails it will be because of Hesbullah.

However we shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that Lebanon and the juices are actually talking to each other!

Now if we ended up in the situation with Lebanon joining the Abraham Accords then that’s yet ANOTHER reason for Trump getting a well over due Nobel peace prize 🤣

I’m laughing because that prize is meaningless considering some of the recipients in recent times 🤣

This has a much better chance than Iran. The most important thing is that the Lebanese do their part to stop Iran’s pipeline. We should even let them keep the spoils if they can manage to intercept them.

Hasan Piker, and many others, will be disappointed because it’s not bad for Israel and America, their Satans. In that regard, like Thomas Friedman, they are pro-theocratic Iran and held to their positions, no matter what they say.

“Both sides want to see PEACE, and I believe that will happen, quickly!” Trump wrote. I hope but the government of Lebanon is Hezbollah or Hezbollah controlled.

Two different things but sadly for Lebanon Hesbullah has been far to powerful for the Lebanese to deal with UNTIL now.

Thanks to Hamas the lay of the land has changed and changed for the good!

Waste of time. Lebanon isn’t in control of Lebanon and Hezbollah wants to due to the last man, woman, and child. We should help them achieve their goal.

What irks me is that many Lebanese who left Lebanon hate Israel and many of them are not muslim. Consider who brought about much of the destruction in Lebanon and guess what – it wasn’t Israel.

As I said above, resources can be a powerful motivator. Let Lebanon keep the spoils of whatever they can intercept/confiscate from their Iranian pipeline, and I think you will see a renewed vigor.

Hezbollah has to be rooted out and destroyed. They’ve already said they run things and don’t care what the Lebanese government thinks/wants. And UNIFIL? They’ve been a joke for decades.
