MI Senate Candidate Who Has Coddled Anti-Israel Wing Says Husband Faced Antisemitic Slurs

“…there was a man who walked up to my husband and my daughter — I was not there, just my husband and my daughter, and screamed an antisemitic slur at him in his face.”

As any smart political observer will tell you, trying to appease people who hate you never works, and that’s something one of the Democratic candidates in the Michigan Senate race allegedly found out the hard way very recently.

We’ve written previously about this race, calling it the “Anti-Israel vs. AWFUL” battle because it consists of three main candidates: former Wayne County health director Abdul El-Sayed, an anti-Israel, pro-Hamas candidate who has been called the “Michigan Mamdani,” along with State Sen. Mallory McMorrow, an AWFUL who is trying to straddle the fence on the Israel-Hamas war, has accused Israel of “genocide,” has vowed to never take any AIPAC money, but who has also warned against antisemitism.

There is also Rep. Haley Stevens (MI-11), who is considered the “pro-Israel” candidate in the race, but who has steadily fallen in the polls in part because the Michigan electorate is what it is.

Whenever McMorrow has been questioned about accusing Israel of genocide and, in general, criticizing how they’ve handled the war that they didn’t start, she’s been quick to point out how her husband, former Gawker alum Ray Wert, is Jewish and that her daughter is a student at a Jewish preschool.

In the aftermath of the recent Michigan Democratic Convention, where Stevens was booed during a speech, McMorrow claimed that during the event, Wert was subjected to antisemitic slurs in front of their daughter:

“At the convention a few weeks ago, there was a mood,” McMorrow said in an interview with WHMI, a radio station in metro Detroit. “They booed Haley, but there was a man who walked up to my husband and my daughter — I was not there, just my husband and my daughter, and screamed an antisemitic slur at him in his face, in front of my 5-year-old.”

On the campaign trail, McMorrow has made a point of trying to cater to both the state’s sizable Jewish population and its large Arab population. She described herself in the interview as trying to be “the bridge,” while navigating conflicting views that she hears from voters.

Not that anyone deserves or asks to be treated like that, but this is one of those “told ya so” moments that should be a wake-up call for McMorrow. But it won’t be, because she’s too invested in trying to be that “bridge” between Jewish voters in her state and the sizable contingent of Muslim voters whose views are far more in line with El-Sayed’s than Stevens’:

Last spring, there were Michigan Democrats who warned about the possibility of proxy wars in the Democratic Senate primary over the issue of the Israel-Hamas war, antisemitism, AIPAC support, etc. And that is exactly what has played out so far.

Democrats, including McMorrow, built this. It will be interesting to see how they navigate it, and if it ultimately costs them the Senate seat currently held by the retiring Gary Peters in November.

I would never vote for someone named Mallory. Weak name for a weak person.

I realize there’s some vote-getting to be done. But if you’re getting votes because you’re compromising and not standing for truth and solid principles, then you’re not going to be much of a candidate.

Domestic antisemitism is real, any public figures who equivocate or invoke bothsideism needs to be tossed from whatever positions they hold. Last week I had the unfortunate need to attend a funeral of a dear friend of over 45 years, who was Jewish. The synagogue is surrounded by an iron fence, heavy duty gates to the parking lot, and we all had to be wanded TSA-style before we could enter. This was in Orange County in Southern California. Unfortunately I wasn’t completely surprised because I have another friend from another OC congregation who had told me about their security procedures after an incident at their synagogue. That this is necessary here in the U.S. is outrageous.

You can thank democrats and compliant republicans for that. They actively encouraged importation of bottom of the barrel muslims from a number of countries. Those scum have rewarded the US with aggressive often violent antisemitism as well as spreading that disease to progressives. Now a good chunk of this country hates Jews and Israel and is not shy about acting out their fantasies. Unfortunately a good chunk of Jews are also progressives and go along either to get along or because they really believe the progressive beliefs about muslim victimhood as if a religion with 2b adherents and 57 countries can really be victims.

Ztakddot, don’t think of Islam as a religion. Think of it as a totalitarian political movement and death cult that has a religion.

Indeed, just from Facebook posts over the years I know many of those in attendance at this service are pretty well infected with TDS and are rabid blue voters. It’s more than just going along to get along, it’s cognitive dissonance at best. I doubt this will ever change.

Right. The chick that tried to memory hole 6,000 tweets because of how awful they are and bragged about voting in California after moving to Michigan is the real victim here. Nice try. If your husband is a Jew married to you who loves her some Hamas he needs to be institutionalized

Yep. She seems surprised to discover that the crocodiles she and her ilk nurtured have many sharp teeth and use them indiscriminately of anything other than eating the closest person regardless of their political affiliation.

I don’t offhand know any anti-semitic slurs. Hey big nose! perhaps. Same as anti-Indian slurs.

Jumped in bed with the wrong side, now stuck with it.

This is a woman who has only lived 11 years in Michigan and now wants to be their senator. Previously she lived in CA.

This is a woman who deleted 6000 online posts recently. One had he dreaming about the elite coasts annexing themselves from Middle America, Another talked about her voting for Ted Lieu after moving.

Well, she is more, uh, presentable than your average democrat female. There is that.

“I will not take money from AIPAC”
Why? Is their money not green or something?
Listen up lady, you’re already whoring yourself out for money. You might as well take all that you can from any source.
Even lot lizards know this.

Curious description of Rep Haley Stevens as being the ‘pro Israel’ candidate in the MI Senate race. I’d rather have candidates for US political office who are pro USA, first, middle and last. That isn’t a hit at Israel and doesn’t mean we shouldn’t seek to work with responsible international partners, especially those such as Israel who pull their weight militarily, when our respective National interests align but it is becoming all too common to frame candidates by their support for/against other Nations when the focus of their attention should (IMO) be on the issues directly impacting average middle-class constituents. Maybe I’m over thinking this but it irks me when politicians start jabbering about the plight or ‘needs’ of Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Mexico, Somalia ….The Gov’t of those Nations either will/will not adequately govern/administer their own Nations and the people living there can choose to throw the bums out or not but it ain’t our issue ….until our interests are directly threatened.

Yes I’m aware PR is a US Territory but it isn’t a State and since the people there have consistently rejected Statehood over many decades it is past time IMO to give them a final opportunity to choose in or out decision in making an application to become a State which Congress can then choose to accept or deny.

theres approx 4+ million muslims and 6+ million jews in america

so whats the ratio of legit white collar jobs vs. white collar m?

same with blue collar
who produces more jobs money education etc?

my guess is the j

but who holds the reins of power and cant be criticized?
cant be bothered with blending into western culture?

my guess is m

and yet the whole dem party is beholden to m

and probably 50% of gop/scotus fear what will happen if they too dont bend the knee for the blmplo brigade

if m can accept western ways …then no problem

but if they cant and we see if they can or cant or wont
then we are in biggger trouble than even I thought we could be in

the gop has to win over the m voters. especially by pounding away at pro life values and maga values not bend the knee ala nancy pelosi style into submission

Michigan has an open primary with no party registration, so the nomination may yet be decided by Republicans crossing over to raid the Dem primary to pick the one most likely to be beaten. That is a very risky strategy, and could indeed backfire.
