Iranian Media: Regime Halts Strait of Hormuz Traffic Over Strikes in Lebanon

Trump told PBS that he didn’t include Lebanon in the ceasefire because of Hezbollah.

Numerous outlets have reported that the Fars news agency, the Iranian state media, said the regime stopped traffic through the Strait of Hormuz after Israel struck Lebanon.

Fars reported that Iran allowed two oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz earlier this morning, but “tankers have been suspended from passing through the Strait of Hormuz after Israeli attacks on Lebanon,” according to CBS News.

The Times of Israel published comments made by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi with Pakistani mediators:

Araghchi “discussed the Zionist regime’s violations of the ceasefire in Iran and Lebanon,” referring to Israel, in a call with the powerful Pakistani military leader Field Marshal Asim Munir, the statement says.

Reports from Iranian media and Al Jazeera, citing Iranian officials and well-informed sources, say Tehran was prepared to withdraw from the ceasefire and retaliate over Israel’s bombardments of Lebanon.

“Iran will withdraw from the agreement if Israel continues to violate the ceasefire in its attack on Lebanon,” Iran’s Tasnim news agency reports, citing a well-informed source.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps vows on Telegram to “punish Israel for the atrocities it has committed in Lebanon and violating ceasefire conditions.”

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who participated in the ceasefire talks, also condemned the strikes:

“Violations of ceasefire have been reported at few places across the conflict zone which undermine the spirit of peace process,” Sharif wrote on X. “I earnestly and sincerely urge all parties to exercise restraint and respect the ceasefire for two weeks, as agreed upon, so that diplomacy can take a lead role towards peaceful settlement of the conflict.”

President Donald Trump clarified to PBS that Lebanon was not included in the ceasefire.

“Because of Hezbollah,” Trump answered when asked why he didn’t include Lebanon. “They were not included in the deal. That’ll get taken care of, too. It’s alright.”

Trump also said the Israeli strikes on Lebanon are part of the deal since it’s a “separate skirmish.”

Trump’s remarks back up Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who said last night that the ceasefire did not include the fight against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Hezbollah and Hamas are Iran’s terror proxies in Lebanon and Gaza.

Vijeta wrote this morning:

Israel, on Wednesday, conducted a missive aerial offensive against Hezbollah command structure and terrorist infrastructure inside Lebanon.

The IDF confirmed that it had carried out “largest coordinated strike across Lebanon since the start of Operation Roaring Lion.”

“The targets struck included Hezbollah headquarters, military arrays, and command-and-control centers,” the IDF disclosed.

“We will continue striking the Hezbollah terror organization and will utilize every operational opportunity. We will not compromise the security of the residents of northern Israel,” declared Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, the IDF’s chief of staff. “We will continue to strike with determination.”

A great victory!! Mission Accomplished!! We met all our objectives!!!

I’m not going to downvote you. Theres too much of exactly that crap going on, and it’s getting real tiresome.

GWB was absolutely correct when he declared “Mission accomplished” in Iraq. He was speaking to military personnel, and they had done exactly what was asked of them – defeat Iraq’s military and topple its government.

It’s the state-building the the US bungled, not the military operation. The latter was a complete success. They were not the same missions. (For instance, victory over Germany and Japan were both declared, and correctly so, long before both countries were rebuilt. Their rebuilding was a mission separate and distinct from the military mission to destroy them. Having succeeded in the military missions did not guarantee success in the rebuilding missions, but it probably set unrealistic expectations for our ability to do the same in Iraq and Afghanistan, two places very unlike Germany and Japan in ways that made success much less likely.)

‘March 6: “U.S. President Donald Trump demanded Iran’s “unconditional surrender” on Friday, all but erasing hopes that Washington would be willing to negotiate a cease-fire with Tehran in the near future. “There will be no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!” Trump wrote on Truth Social….’

What did we get? Negotiations and a fake/ghey ceasefire.

        “Met our objectives?”

Taking victory lap before the race has finished? We’ve seen this movie before. There is no victory until the regime has been replaced. Otherwise they go deeper underground and rebuild. Even after regime change, the islamofascists can take off their uniforms and hide out in the country side outside tehran, and wait for trump to term out, and attempt coup.

hosspuller in reply to smooth. | April 9, 2026 at 10:28 pm

Actually, there has been a regime change. All the leaders at the start of the operation have been killed. The regime is now third and lesser stringers.

ICYMI – The agreement was between Iran and the US. Hezbollah attacked Israel from Lebanon. Was Israel supposed to do nothing? We’re waiting for the answer. It should be simply yes or no.

So, would you rather Trump have not tried for a ceasefire?

Rather than merely criticize, please tell us what you believe should be done next.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

henrybowman in reply to Hodge. | April 8, 2026 at 7:38 pm

Hey, it wasn’t me who said there would be unconditional surrender, and then negotiated a ceasefire instead. Bait and switch. Move the objective goalposts.

smooth in reply to Hodge. | April 9, 2026 at 9:45 am

Yes it was absolutely wrong to attempt “ceasefire”. Trump has signaled weakness. He can’t unright that bell once its been rung. Iran government won’t negotiate in good faith. Any agreement will be broken by iran.

Hodge in reply to smooth. | April 9, 2026 at 10:13 am

You watched the entire Israeli Hamas war and expected negotiations in good faith? This pause is valueless to the Iranians because they don’t have the resources with which to recover. In the meantime the U.S. gets to look good in the U.N. “Hey we tried!” and gets a little time to rest and rearm. It’s a gesture that costs nothing and remember we really really don’t want to blow up Iran’s oil infrastructure if we can avoid that. It’s worth a try even while we know it’s 99 percent likely to fail.

Well, there’s a surprise. //

I rather doubt this was unexpected by our war-planners.

Trump made a good faith effort for a ceasefire, the corrupt regime in Tehran violated it.

    MarkS in reply to rbj1. | April 8, 2026 at 1:44 pm

and Trump does nothing,..she should start bombing immediately, and start with the house of the Iranian negotiator that lied to him

If Iran were allowed to continue this piracy and inhibit freedom of navigation other state bad actors might get some ideas. This “control” is an Iranian terrorist fantasy. It will not be allowed.

MarkS in reply to Concise. | April 8, 2026 at 1:45 pm

    but it is being allowed

Andy in reply to MarkS. | April 8, 2026 at 2:56 pm

Because we didn’t simultaniously blow their power plants to stone age the minute the mullah’s opened their pie hole?

Good grief- step away from the keyboard. This isn’t a video game.

DaveGinOly in reply to Andy. | April 8, 2026 at 3:33 pm

Mark is all gung-ho now. Was he previously supporting US strikes on Iran? I would think not. Anyone supporting the strikes knows that missions don’t come off at the wave of Trump’s hand. Missions planned and cancelled have to wait again for suitable conditions (usually darkness, and a little moonlight as possible, for a couple of possible conditions, others, such as weather, may apply). Anyone who wasn’t supporting the strikes becomes an inconsistent hypocrite for accusing Trump of not striking again immediately. Such a person would be calling for the cessation of the strikes, regardless of Iran’s violation of the cease-rife conditions.

        I’m going with the latter.

Concise in reply to Andy. | April 9, 2026 at 8:25 am

Any and every possible policy or action made by President Trump would be mocked by this loser. The wages of TDS.

FAFO time again. Did we expect the supremist Islamists to do anything less? Negotiating from weakness… the snarling rodent. Here they were given the Sun Zhu “golden bridge” to exit the battlefield with what remained but NOOO… idiots.

So how about those post cease fire missile strikes on SA, Qarar, UAE and Israel? Time for a US warship to escort a ship through the Strait.

Trump caved.

Iran is counting on him to cave again.

Sanddog in reply to dwb. | April 8, 2026 at 2:39 pm

Trump has shown that Iran is under the control of a military dictatorship via the IRGC and the “President” and “Supreme Leader” have no power. You can’t negotiate with the civilian leadership because they are not running the country.

DaveGinOly in reply to dwb. | April 8, 2026 at 3:39 pm

US forces are likely using this time as a breather after an extended period of high-tempo operations. Waiting a few beats before taking up the strikes again is smart. Better rested crews and support personnel commit fewer mistakes and aircraft need vital maintenance. A brief break allows for another, similarly-sustained, series of attacks in the (possibly near) future.

Your comment pretty much labels you as someone who never served. If you had served, you should know these things. I had a battalion commander who used to push us until our drivers couldn’t keep their vehicles on the road. I’ve patrolled so continuously that I have fallen asleep standing up. If you had been through such scenarios, you wouldn’t be jumping to conclusions about what the (so far) brief pause signifies.

Hodge in reply to DaveGinOly. | April 8, 2026 at 4:43 pm

Exactly, and while some might worry that the Iranians will also get rest and recover, that is true, but: they have much less ability to recover. We can bring in more materiel. They have no outside source of munitions or equipment. It can’t get through Syria, Azerbaijan, et al. Russia and China may provide money but Iran has no way to convert cash into weapons. They may also provide some intelligence, but again, there’s nothing that Iran can use strategically.

Ideally this is a chance for someone in Iran to get enough control over the hardliners to negotiate a surrender. The problem is that we need to find a country willing to accept (hundreds of?) leaders from the pld regime.

healthguyfsu in reply to Hodge. | April 8, 2026 at 5:39 pm

If you follow recent history, we also talked about peace and negotiations right before we offed that mass murderer and most of his entourage. It was a stall to move some pieces around.

So your apology for bad strategy is… what, you’re just too tired to carry on a war more than five weeks?

Boy, wait until China invades Taiwan.

smooth in reply to dwb. | April 9, 2026 at 9:51 am

Unfortunately you might be correct. I want trump to be successful president. But sand monkeys don’t respect empty threats, they are emboldened by them. They met the full force of the US airforce and navy and still control the straits and have their uranium. The sham peace talks in pakistan are diplomatic theater.

That’s it. There is no appeasing these evil people. Full stop. Get it over with and let the media moan; who cares if they do? Trump has to make a hard choice. Support him.

Israel should drop a few bombs on Hamas and the Houthis for good measure just to illustrate that Gaza and Yemen are also not part of Iran.
They should also continue to bomb Iranian positions in Syria and Iraq (if they exist) because last time I checked those countries are also not part of Iran.

Surprise, surprise, surprise!

ALL of them.

alaskabob in reply to Treguard. | April 8, 2026 at 2:05 pm

As a Pope said…”kill them all and let G_d sort them out.” With the IRGC and Mullahs… easy… no sorting needed.

Iran: we will limit the number of ships crossing through the strait at about a dozen a day.

Look … every time Iran attacks a ship we simply reduce one of their power plants and bridges to rubble. Or we take out the piers on kharg island so they can’t load any oil.

Trump seems to think he’s dealing with irrational businessman. He’s not he’s dealing with crazy mfing religious zealots who will literally never make a deal.

I said from the beginning the risk was losing the political will to the job. If we don’t finish the job, the cancer that is the irgc will simply come back more aggressively.

Sanddog in reply to dwb. | April 8, 2026 at 2:41 pm

I’m pretty sure Rubio has made it crystal clear exactly who Trump is dealing with. Trump is just playing the game the leftists demand and showing exactly why it will not work.

henrybowman | April 8, 2026 at 2:18 pm

German blogger eugyppius cleverly summed this up this entire CF state of affairs in the two-word headline of today’s installment: Schrödinger’s Ceasefire.

So is Iran saying that Lebanon is a part of Iran instead of a sovereign nation? They seem to be publicly admitting they see Lebanon as theirs.

Iran exiting is not in their existential best interest.

On the upside— I had a sweet covered call sell at top dollar while the market was over enthusiastic.

Todo: Buy it back tomorrow when it tanks again.

This is going nowhere. It’s the same crap for 47 years. My plan – start sending warships through the strait. Let them know that each attempt to intercept will be met with the destruction of a power plant or other infrastructure. Give them 3 hours to wise up. Additional actions or demands will result in destruction of another asset. Let the general population know (via leaflet drops, arms drops, etc) that they need to take control of their country. Continue with killing the leadership. Leadership needs to realize that the 72 virgins they were promised are actually Catholic nuns.

Andy in reply to Bob T. | April 8, 2026 at 5:02 pm

This is the most likely outcome: Keep killing their leaders until they run out or one who will take his 72 virgins w/out being un-alived.

Too bad the entire western world DEI’d their naval capabilities.

It appears there is no one to negotiate with in Iran. The country has devolved into multiple groups that are under no orders.

This clearly had to have been envisioned by the planners. I expect to see how they resolve this soon enough.

Unfortunately Trump will have to respond

Forcefully

Sham peace talks in pakistan already dead before they start?
