Communist group at UC Berkeley campus displays poster depicting Trump as Hitler
A Berkeley-based bookstore tied to a communist organization appeared on the University of California, Berkeley campus on April 2 displaying a poster depicting President Donald Trump as Adolf Hitler.
An image shows members of Revolution Books tabling on campus with a sign reading “Mein Trumpf,” a reference to Hitler’s manifesto Mein Kampf.
Revolution Books describes itself as an “intellectual, political, and cultural center” for revolution on its official website. The bookstore has locations in Berkeley and New York and is associated with the Revolutionary Communist Party, which advocates for revolution and a change to a communist system in the United States.
The organization was founded by Bob Avakian, a longtime activist who has promoted what he calls “New Communism” and authored a proposed constitution for a “New Socialist Republic in North America.” He also has had involvement with other socialist parties before the founding of the Revolutionary Communist Party, notably being previously involved in the Black Panther Party.
Bob Avakian is a vocal opponent of Donald Trump, and continues to make the claim that Trump is a fascist.
The store’s inventory includes progressive and socialist literature, as well as children’s books such as And Tango Makes Three, which depicts a same-sex penguin couple raising a chick.
Revolution Books has appeared on the UC Berkeley campus multiple times, according to students. John Paul Leon, president of the Turning Point USA chapter at UC Berkeley, said the group has previously confronted conservative students.
“Revolution Books is a radical leftwing organization that implicitly encourages people to break the law and act violently towards conservatives,” Leon told Campus Reform. “We’ve got to confront these fascists every step of the way,” he recalled members saying during a prior incident.
Leon also provided video footage showing a bookstore member using a megaphone and stating, “We’ve got to confront Trump’s MAGA fascism.”

These people aren’t exactly original thinkers. Back in the late 60s at my junior college in Birmingham, there was a group of left leaning students who liked to carry around posters of pictures of George Wallace with a toothbrush moustache drawn with black marker.
