Report: Joe Kent Under Investigation for Allegedly Leaking Classified Info

Multiple outlets reported that the FBI opened an investigation into former National Counterterrorism Director Joe Kent, who resigned over President Donald Trump’s strikes on Iran, for allegedly leaking classified information.
I refuse to say “Trump’s war on Iran” because, as I’ve written in all of my posts, Iran started this war in 1979.
Sources told the outlets that the investigation began months before Kent resigned.
The FBI would not return any requests for comment.
When Kent resigned, those within the administration claimed that Kent leaked confidential information.
“He left quite an online paper trail and he has been monitored for months,” one person told Axios.
“He’s going to try to say this was in retaliation for his resignation, but it’s the other way around: He quit because he’s under investigation and he knew it,” the person added.
Kent supposedly leaked information to Israel and Iran.
That part shocked me because Kent blamed Israel for Trump’s involvement.
“Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby,” Kent insisted.
Why didn’t the Trump administration fire Kent?
Well, it would be easier to retrieve evidence against Kent while in close proximity.
Also, no one should be punished without clear-cut evidence and a finished investigation.
Axios reminded everyone that Kent caused a ruckus in October when he attempted to access files associated with the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
The New York Times reported that Kent’s interest alarmed FBI Director Kash Patel and other officials, who “believed Mr. Kent was overstepping, treading on F.B.I. responsibilities and potentially interfering with the investigation and the prosecution of the suspect, Tyler Robinson.”
Kent claimed a foreign agent had involvement in the assassination, justifying his inquiry.

It’s funny. Usually I am a believer in a political hit against someone who spoke out against the party in the White House. That’s just the way to bet. In this case I am afraid I have confirmation bias against this guy.

When speculating, we might as well speculate in the direction of our biases, so long as we keep in mind that that is what we’re doing, and are ready to change our minds if and when information comes in.
For instance, all these wild accusations people make against Trump. I prefer to believe they’re completely false, because there’s no evidence that they’re true. But it may be that one of them is true nonetheless, and one day evidence may emerge. If that ever happens, I’ll have to discard my uninformed assumption and form a new opinion based on whatever evidence there is.

Ditto here. I disagree with Milhouse at times and agree at others, but it’s always a thoughtful decision and shines light into odd nooks and crannies of legal questions.

With this guy’s hero resume and chiseled good looks, he could’ve been a MAGA rock star on pace to be a future VP, DNI, or SoS.
I hope none of the allegations against Kent are true, but if he did backstab this administration, he will drop faster than a turd in an outhouse, and be just as useless.
His “hero” resume — his military service, that is — does not give him protection from the law.
If he’s a leaker he should pay the price, like others have. I can think of a few as I write who are in exile as a result.

yeah- he was fighting the good fight in SW Washington, an area where we are losing to leftists, but was not a complete lost cause.
Wa has had a few disappointing conservatives. Rep Herrara-Butler- who is no longer in office. I had rubbed elbows with some of her staff in the early 2000s- they were not well liked by the Christian conservatives in Thurston at the time- so I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised how that played out.

It is what I posted elsewhere. This clown was under investigation for leaking and was specifically cut out of all Iran briefings leading up to Iran. He just got out when the getting was good to join the TDS grifting brigade on the talking head circuit to make enough money to pay lawyers ahead of what is coming down the tracks at him. He is joining MTG with his strange new respect in bashing Trump in all the usual places
It’s a pretty obvious decision. He was leaking like a sprinkler to the Usual Leftist Subjects and knew that would eventually come to light. He can’t be working for Trump or an ally when that happens or he’s out, so he sells out to the left who will entertain him for a fair chunk of change in the immediate future while he writes his book “They Didn’t Listen To Me And That’s Why Everything Went Wrong,” the same book every flipper tries to sell to the regular publishers and that sells only to the hard-left frothing loons.
I wonder if his good buddy received some of the leaks and what exactly he leaked. I also wonder whether his wife’s boss was the beneficiary of the leaks. Max Blumenthal is a real piece of work as is his father who was a Clinton confidant. Max is much worse than his father.
