Campus Reform reports:
2026 MIDTERMS: University of Idaho Faculty Political Donations Favor Democrats by 419-to-1 Margin
University of Idaho employees routed their political giving overwhelmingly to the left in the 2026 midterms cycle—about a 419-to-1 advantage for Democratic-aligned candidates and committees.
Of the $75,582 in total employee contributions recorded in the Federal Election Commission (FEC) database, $75,402 (99.76 percent) went to Democratic-aligned candidates and committees, while $180 (0.24 percent) went to Republican-aligned candidates and committees. The dollar gap between the two totals stands at $75,222.
The largest individual donor shown is Paul Hohenlohe, listed as faculty, who gave $18,078 across 27 donations—about 23.9 percent of the University of Idaho total.
Other prominent donors in the provided list include James Johnson, listed as a professor of entomology, who gave $16,246.50 across 417 donations; Sarah Nelson ($6,444); and Jean’ne Shreeve ($3,400.50). Hohenlohe appears multiple times in the donor table (including additional entries at $7,500 and $3,000), suggesting his giving is split across more than one row in the underlying view.
The largest share of University of Idaho-affiliated employee donations flowed to Democratic fundraising infrastructure, party committees, and Democratic candidate committees. ActBlue (Democratic fundraising platform) received by far the largest share.
Other leading recipients shown include the Idaho State Democratic Party, the DSCC and DCCC (Senate and House Democratic campaign arms), and a mix of Democratic candidate committees and allied groups such as Jon Ossoff for Senate, Warnock for Georgia, 314 Action Fund, EMILY’s List, and Progressive Turnout Project. Republican-aligned giving is minimal in the dataset, totaling $180.
