MS NOW Dropping the ‘News’ Act, Doubling Down on Resistance Programming

MS NOW Dropping the ‘News’ Act, Doubling Down on Resistance Programming

“The sort of the general weakening of CNN has caused MS NOW to lean more into what it is and what its viewers like.”

MS NOW, formerly known as MSNBC, is backing off the charade of presenting ‘straight news’ and is doubling down on the anti-Trump programming that brings them eyeballs and ratings.

Morning Joe is being cut by an hour, and other supposed ‘news’ shows are being ditched to make room for what they are hoping will increase their market share.

NewsBusters reported on the cuts:

Rating MS DOWN? MS NOW Shakes Up Network Line Up, Anchors Out

After being cast out into the wilderness by NBCUniversal last year, things didn’t appear to be going well for the rebranded “MS NOW.” On Wednesday, a shakeup was announced that saw daytime completely reshaped with two anchors losing their seats with at least one already announcing that she had quit, Morning Joe experiencing some shrinkage, while a new face would appear during the 11th Hour, among other shifts.

Going down the line up, first, Morning Joe will be losing an hour. After spending some time at an inflated four hours of Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski shrieking at the camera, the purported preferred morning show for Washington D.C. insiders would be returning to just three hours.

Anchor Stephanie Ruhle will be leaving The 11th Hour and taking over that lost hour from Morning Joe, as well as the following one. Meaning her time slot would be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

One of the more noteworthy line items in the shakeup was Ana Cabrera losing her position as an anchor of the 11a a.m. slot, and her announcement that she would be leaving the company.

FOX News provides a little more inside baseball, noting that the people who watch MSNOW are not going there for news. They’re watching for their two-minute hate of Trump:

MS NOW leans into its liberal identity by rolling back on straight news programs, insiders say

One network insider told Fox News Digital that MS NOW is veering away from the “Andy Lack nonsense” of the editorial programming separations between daytime and primetime, referring to the network’s former chairman during its MSNBC days from 2015-2020.

“Both internally and to the viewer, the distinctions are less clear than they used to be, including the distinctions between perspective and news,” the MS NOW staffer said. “The sort of the general weakening of CNN has caused MS NOW to lean more into what it is and what its viewers like.”

The insider pointed to the success of “Deadline: White House” hosted by Nicolle Wallace, highlighting how her 4 p.m. show earns viewership that rivals the network’s primetime programming.

“What we’re finding is you can achieve that in different parts of the day if you don’t pretend to be CNN for half your lineup,” the MS NOW staffer said. “So, I think what you’re going to be seeing is changes to shows that just seem like news, right?

“The Ana Cabrera, Chris Jansing thing — those are disappearing. I think you’re gonna see that throughout the lineup. Everything’s going to feel a little more MS NOW all the way through.

This is actually not a dumb strategy for the far left network. If you look at the numbers shown below, you can see that while FOX News still dominates cable news ratings, there are about a half dozen MSNOW shows creeping up the list.

CNN should probably just hang it up at this point. It’s amazing that the 12 AM rebroadcast of The Five on FOX News beats all of their primetime programming.

The hysteria is only going to get worse the closer to mid terms we get.

Just 3 hours….that’s not enough time to cover ALL OF THE THINGS TRUMP MADE ME DO!

I like how even their staffers can’t take responsibility for their own decisions and actions. Instead, it’s “the weakening of CNN” that made us do this.

It would be so easy to raise their ratings.

Just announce that there will be a program devoted to serious debate on the issues, and bring in guests and hosts that will truly work to provide such debate.

You’d have people on both sides of the aisle tuning in to see what happens,

At least they aren’t pretending to be news anymore. I have two neighbors with “resistance” flags in their yard. One wonders what they are resisting? A fairly elected president, that they can fairly vote in the opposite direction on in the upcoming elections. I strongly disliked Joe Biden but I wasn’t “resisting” his election. Just really disappointed in it, but aware of reality. Maybe it’s time democrats understood the real meaning of that word resistance, and read some history or actually started listening to something other than their echo chamber. Real resistance is the people of Iran who have no say in what happens to them and are being executed for daring to try.

    “what they are resisting?“

Intelligence, law enforcement, honest elections, factual reporting, biological reality, ending racial discrimination, ending victimization mentality, ending illegal invasion, and exposing the democrat crime syndicate.

You can’t blame them for giving their few loyal viewers what they want. They were never news in the first place and are trying to survive

They should just rename to MS TDS.

Three hours of “Morning Joe” still seems like too much, by three hours.

I have never been a fan of the Morning Blow Show. Two morons patting each others backs. I have to agree with guyjones, too much by three hours. You would think they would have run out of lies by now.

It’s a great move by msnow. They can’t compete by being fair and appeal to who is left of their audience so they are not even going to try. Much like The View, they know who they are going after and might as well as otherwise they are going to be off the air by next year. Now they are going to prolong it until 2028.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Me-again, Qatarlson and Candy-O all get shows on this “network” as we approach the midterms.

How much more insufferable can Morning Joe and sidekick Mika get? ( I confess to never watching them for more than two painfully long minutes.)
