Democrats and Media Drop New Talking Point About the Cost of Trump’s Iran Operation

“Republicans on Capitol Hill are preparing to confront a staggering price tag for the war in the Middle East after closed-door briefings this week”

Democrats and their friends in the media have settled on a new talking point to go after Trump, with regard to the ongoing operations in Iran. They are emphasizing the cost.

The same people who wanted to send unlimited amounts of cash to Ukraine, forever, now want you to be outraged that Trump is spending a lot of money taking out Iran.

The fact that Politico is reporting on this suggests it is an official narrative:

Massive war price tag could be a massive problem for GOP leaders

Republicans on Capitol Hill are preparing to confront a staggering price tag for the war in the Middle East after closed-door briefings this week detailed the rapid consumption of expensive munitions and the lack of any firm deadline for the end of the military campaign.

Asked how much the Iran offensive would cost, House Appropriations Chair Tom Cole (R-Okla.) didn’t sugarcoat it.

“A lot,” he replied.

Senior Republicans privately expect President Donald Trump’s administration to request tens of billions of dollars for the Middle East conflict and other military needs from Congress in the coming days, with some GOP lawmakers hearing estimates that the Pentagon is spending as much as $2 billion a day on the war.

Three F-15E jets shot down by friendly fire in Kuwait are estimated to cost $100 million alone. But Trump officials in private briefings have declined to give lawmakers any specific numbers, according to six congressional Republicans granted anonymity to describe the internal discussions.

A White House request for supplemental funding could further balloon once it hits Capitol Hill, according to four other people with direct knowledge of the matter.

In case you think I’m exaggerating about this being a narrative, this has also been picked up at the Maddow Blog at MSNOW:

Democrats seize on the Iran war’s enormous daily price tag

The list of questions surrounding the ongoing war in Iran is not short. At this point, neither Donald Trump nor anyone on his team has explained in a coherent way why the administration launched this offensive, what its objectives are, what the plan is to achieve those goals, whether the war is legal or how long it’s expected to last.

In case that weren’t quite enough, we also don’t know how much this war of choice is costing, though an answer is starting to come into focus.

Elizabeth Warren is pushing it.

And even Ilhan Omar.

Maybe if we ended the massive fraud and grift in Massachusetts and Minnesota, we would have an easier time paying for what’s happening in Iran.

It’s amazing how Trump can turn Democrats into fiscal conservatives overnight.

Democrats will seize on anything but winning. Try calculating the cost of losing this one.

It is hard to calculate the cost of mushroom clouds above Tel Aviv, Paris, New York, and what’s that leave? About eight other cities?

My understanding is that while Israel has never OFFICIALLY owned up to possessing nukes, they quietly used back channels decades ago to let the Saudis (and others) know that (Israel being such a small nation that several nukes could erase it) any nuking of Israel would also result in the nuking of Islamic Capitols and “Holy Cities”, in particular Mecca.
Doesn’t matter what particular nutjob country did it, no court case needed, Mecca gets it,

Democrat Rule #1, Tax and Spend and be Elected and Re-elected and Re-Elected . . .

When Ds worry about spending, they’re trying a new trick.

Exactly how much money did we give to Ukraine to do what with? Don’t get me wrong I admire the Ukranians but it’s noticeable to me as an American Jew that no one ever questions the loyalty of Ukranian Americans just us Jews. We are always trageted that the US supports Israel with too much money, but that conversations never comes up about the 100’s of other countries we dump crazy money into and in no way that they are held accountable. It was all slava Ukrani with the Democrat party and F Israel; explain that one to me, because I don’t get it?

Isn’t the real question: how many days of bombing can we buy if we claw back the billions that the Scamalis have bilked out of the system?

I’m old enough to remember when Clinton erased a budget surplus by randomly bombing Kosovo. (I think it was Kosovo, I was 11 at the time).

Warren and Omar need to go F themselves. Stuff them into tomahawks and launch them at Iran. Their demises will be the sole benefits they ever provided to this country.

Raise your right hand high if you’d rather see federal money being spent eliminating the Iranian Terrorist Mullahs instead of funding “student” agitators, BLM, Antifa, the cartels, and Al-Shabaab.

Otherwise, raise your left fists high.

“and the lack of any firm deadline for the end of the military campaign.”

What an idiotic talking point. Why would anybody in their right mind want to broadcast that, even if it existed? (The duration will be goals, not calendar, based.)

“Remember this when Donald Trump tells you we can’t afford health care.”

That’s heap big wampum.

Of course, Senator Pocahontas wants you to forget that any money a president spends is authorized by Congress.

Counter the goofy d/prog propaganda talking points by calling their bluff:
1. Offer universal HSA with Federal deposits into them by converting 80% of Medicaid and Obama Care funding
2. Remaining 20% of Obama Care and Medicaid used to subsidize those with ‘preexisting conditions/hugely expensive care’
3. Gut Obama Care allowing actual risk based insurance pricing, consumers allowed to buy bare bones health IN including catastrophic care policies
4. Hand out ‘free’ school, breakfast, lunch, take home brown bag to all students
5. Revoke EBT for in kind food boxes picked up in person with ID each week
6. Specifically limit eligibility all federal or joint federal/state ‘welfare’ programs to US Citizens. For any housing or household based benefit programs any non Citizen is ineligible and makes the household ineligible.

Gee! Spending large amounts of money on an endeavor that ACTUALLY leads to greater safety for the country and its citizens, as well as the world as a whole.

Sounds like money SPENT, rather than WASTED.

Gas is 2.99 here, central Texas

It’s going higher and I think Trump has to be d some arms or this dog won’t hunt

People can not see beyond their nose

The sacrifices of the 40’s and greater good are gone, but he needs to make the argument for them, I’m not sure he has,,,

First, Omar is correct – the war is illegal. Iran should never have started it.
Second, the war, as being conducted by the US, is an investment for the American people. It’s an investment in a future that doesn’t include a nuclear armed Iran led by fundamentalist Islamic nutbags.

It was pointed out on another site that if Iran’s theocratic government falls (the ultimate goal), the following is likely to happen:

    1) Funding for terrorism (Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthi’s, etc.) will dry up.
    2) No more supplies of missiles, weapons, munitions for the Palestinians (and others).
    3) The 97 million people in Iran will be brought out of the dark ages, soon to be a powerful economic force for good.
    4) Loss of a Mid East ally for Russia and China.
    5) No more threat to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
    6) A more stable Mid East.

There’s probably more. They used to call this a “peace dividend”. And if it actually happens, Donald J. Trump will get absolutely no credit for it.

      7) The 12th Imam is still stuck in that well… cap it!
      8) The doomsday march to destroy Israel and cause nuclear havoc is toast… for now.

What Democrat/ Marxist ever started worrying how much money some program or campaign costs?
The shovel billions out in government programs without oversight.

So which is giving us the bigger bang for the buck: Ukraine or Iran?

Glad Trump is taking them out. Long since due. I remember the “Death to America” chants back when I was in school in the late 70’s. Good to see they’re getting the death they crave.

Amazing how the only times the profligate, fiscally illiterate, prosperity-destroying, vile Dhimmi-crat apparatchiks pretend to care about federal spending, are when a GOP president is in the White House.

How much money has the U.S. spent on Ukraine war aid? Tell the idiotic and hypocritical Dhimmi-crats to call me when the numbers are equivalent. And, even then, I won’t give a damn, because the strikes against the Iranian Islamofascist/terrorist regime are fully justified and are in the interest of U.S. and allied interests and global peace and stability.

I’m guessing war is way less expensive than letting in millions of illegal aliens who suck off all of our public resources like hospitals, schools, and housing without paying anything in? War help stimulate the economy often in the defese industry and hardware etc. Yes gas prices are going to go nuts and already are; but that’s a price I’m willing to pay given that gas prices went crazy Biden and Obama anyway, but there was no good reason for it.

After the talking points related to the cost of the war, the Democrats will begin claiming that the war is racist.

Yes because Hamas somehow are “black and brown bodies” even though most Palestinians are lilly white unless they are decsendants of Africans who were enslaved and force converted to Islam. Of course Palestinians are super racist and force those people to live in separate neighborhoods, but let’s not talk about that now. It hurts the “narrative.” Maybe that’s why Democrats want Iranians to stay enslaved ? They are just too white?

What would the cost be if the US were hit by an Iranian nuke? Oh my. They don’t want to calculate that one. Heh. Finish the job, Mr. President and move on to the midterms.

Two things are undeniably true, no matter what your opinion on this conflict;

1) Neither Democrats or Republicans in Congress actually give a hoot about spending money we don’t have; in fact, it is in THEIR best interests that we spend more and more every year. There may be a handful of exceptions, but cutting spending has never been something politicians willingly do.

2) Very few VOTERS/citizens care about how much the government is spending unless they can see it IMMEDIATELY impacting their daily lives in a significant way. Gas prices going up won’t hack it because those prices vary constantly no matter what else is happening. Pretty much used to that. Mostly people can’t make the connection between what gummint spend and the cost of… well everything.

Those are very good points particularly the first. The second probably holds generally but with the rampant inflation in housing, food, insurance, electricity to name just a few things since Covid era already pinching household budgets I suspect voters are more sensitive to sudden price hikes and with plenty of info access it’s easier than ever to link cause and effect…even when the stated cause didn’t lead to the effect.
