Our latest filing, which was at the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (OCR), was on January 6, 2026, against the Metropolitan State University of Denver and comprised a two-part Civil Rights Complaint. Part One of the Civil Rights Complaint covered eleven (11) scholarships that discriminate on the basis of race, color, and/or national origin in violation of Title VI. Part Two of the Civil Rights Complaint covered nine (9) scholarships for DACA and “undocumented” students, which constitutes national-origin discrimination against American-born students. Both complaints were simultaneously filed at the Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division

A public university in Colorado has been hit with two federal civil rights complaints alleging that 20 scholarship programs are either illegally race-based or reserved for undocumented immigrants, The Post has learned.
Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) is accused of flouting Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which bars institutions of higher learning that discriminate based on race or national origin from receiving federal funds.
The complaints by the Equal Protection Project, a legal watchdog, were filed with the Education Department’s Office of Civil Rights on Friday.
“We think it’s outrageous that universities funded by the federal government would have scholarships that discriminate against American-born students,” William Jacobson, Equal Protection Project president and founder, told The Post.
Of the 20 MSU Denver programs in question, 11 appear to be race-based while nine are alleged to be open only to illegal immigrants and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients….
A spokesperson claimed that the school “regularly reviews scholarship criteria to ensure compliance with current federal and state law.”
Last summer, the Education Department’s Office of Civil Rights announced probes into five colleges and universities over the awarding of scholarships based on national origin.
Since President Trump reclaimed the White House last year, Jacobson claims, many colleges and universities are rebranding and “hiding” discriminatory programs — including by requiring student login credentials to view scholarship prerequisites.
“They used to brag about it under the Biden administration,” he said of the discriminatory practicies. “Our challenge for 2026 is unmasking them.”
The Equal Protection Project specializes in filing federal complaints against colleges and universities over scholarships and other programs that allegedly violate the Civil Rights Act.
The group is guided by the philosophy that “there is no ‘good’ form of racism.”

Some history. When founded, Metro State College was designed for non-traditional students. Originally, it did not have a campus of buildings that it owned and instead leased space in buildings in and around downtown Denver every quarter. It’s purpose was to allow students who could not afford full time college and had to work full time the chance to go to school too. Most classes were night classes. A friend of mine graduated from there while working, became a Nurse Practitioner, and ended up retiring from the Navy as a Commander.
However, our bureaucrats could not conceive of a state college [later a university] not having a competitive athletic program and they ended up buying land and building buildings in the most expensive part of Denver and it became just another PC university.
Granting that I have not lived in Metro Denver for about half a century, but as I understand it the school long ago gave up on its effort to give a leg up to those who had to work for a living.
