Italy’s Meloni Proposes Naval Blockades to Curb Illegal Immigration
“It would also be possible to stop the ships from entering Italian waters in the case of a drastic influx in migrants that could jeopardize the secure management of borders.”
At least one European country is being serious about illegal immigration.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has proposed a bill to curb illegal immigration, including naval blockades along the shores.
Meloni’s cabinet approved the proposal. The bill needs to pass the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.
From The Associated Press:
Italy’s new migration package — which also includes stricter surveillance at borders and cooperation with European agencies — comes a day after the approval of the new EU pact on migration and asylum, which Rome plans to implement swiftly.
The package includes new powers that would enable Italian authorities to impose a naval blockade on migrant ships trying to enter Italy’s territorial waters, under certain conditions.
Authorities can ban the crossing into Italian waters for up to 30 days, in cases in which the migrant ship poses “serious threats to public order or national security,” as in the concrete risk of terrorist acts or terrorist infiltration, the bill says. The blockade is extendable up to a maximum of six months.
It would also be possible to stop the ships from entering Italian waters in the case of a drastic influx in migrants that could jeopardize the secure management of borders.
Violators face a fine of up to 50,000 euros ($59,400). They could lose the ships, too, if they repeat the violations.
The government would then transport the people “to third countries other than their country of origin, with which Italy has entered into specific agreements.”
I’m shocked that the European Parliament approved new policies that allow nations to deny asylum and deport illegal aliens.
Oggi il Governo ha approvato un provvedimento molto significativo per rafforzare il contrasto all’immigrazione illegale di massa e ai trafficanti di esseri umani. Ascoltate. pic.twitter.com/WijEHfvyXq

Why send them anywhere but home?
Spain’s leadership seems to want them.
Why enable the collapse of one of your own flanks? Armies have marched from Spain into Italy before.
Spain’s stupid and self-destructive leftist dhimmi leadership seems committed to ushering in a new Islamofascist/Muslim supremacist caliphate, I’m Spain.
True. But, at least they exiled their Jews….
/s
After forcing a bunch of them to convert to save their lives and that of their families. Who says only the muslims convert by the sword.
I believe the Spanish inquisition, was brutal, cruel and awful in so many ways. But remember, it was around 1200 years ago? The others expelling Jews are doing it today. That is a world of difference. Though Spain appears to be heading down the wrong road. This socialist move to stack the voter roles is just awful. Stupid too..
Because the home country may not accept them. So the new EU law (which will take effect in June) says if they’ve passed through a safe country that will accept them they can be sent there.
Who cares what the home country says
Drop them off in 3 feet of water by a coast in Africa, with a lunch bag, and wave good by
1. Not everyone comes from a coastal African country.
2. You can’t just invade another country and conduct a military operation there without its permission. That’s war. (And no, those countries’ governments are not invading Italy; the people fleeing those countries are not acting for their government.)
1..so what!
2. “and they are not acting for their government”
ahahhaaa
the gov opens those jail doors and sends their own rejects to the other countries
Day one
Let see if the Italians are smarter than Americans. Probably are.
The world surely has turned upside down when a country’s security depends on it navally blockading ITSELF.
More accurately phrased as a nation protecting itself from a hostile foreign invasion.
Subotai Bahadur
Yeah, much like the Brits when they were concerned with Boney or Hitler crossing the Channel.
The EU Parliament’s “new policies that allow nations to deny asylum and deport illegal aliens” are the result of more and more right-leaning member constituencies. I’m shocked at the progress too.
Well, you know…
That’s exactly what navies are for.
But when they tried it before, they had all this news footage about people drowning at sea and such as their crappy little skiffs were turned away. It was why some of the “refugee” policies got as accepting as they did.
Don’t allow filming as your navy plows through the troop transports. If people don’t see it, they won’t whine about it.
The alternative is the Vatican Mosque and Italians enslaved.
Well, if it were the US we couldn’t prevent filming. People have a right to film from a safe distance.
How is it a “right”? It’s not illegal, certainly, but it’s stretching the meaning of the 1A to claimtaking pictures as a right.
Every single court that has ever considered the matter has agreed that picture taking is indeed a right fully protected by the first amendment. Which means not only is it not illegal, but states and localities can’t make it illegal, which they could if it were not a right. And it means the navy can’t prevent people from filming its operations which are already fully visible to the enemy, so it can’t argue that the filming gives the enemy information it doesn’t have.
Blockade? I’d suggest capturing the vessel, detaining the crew, off loading the ‘migrants’, seizing the vessel and cutting it up for scrap, trials for the crew. If the port of the Nation they set out from refuses to accept the returned ‘migrants’ then expel their diplomats, refuse entry to any passport holders of that Nation. If that doesn’t work then cut off trade and financial transactions. If they still balk, then institute an actual blockade of that Nation’s ports sea and air; no entry, no exit and expand the trade/financial sanctions to any Nation which continues to do business with them. Large scale ‘migration’ is an invasion and should be treated as National Security issue with all possible responses on the table to stop it.
Just treat the ships as they had in the past, as invaders.
Sink them.
Read “Camp of the Saints.” It’s harder to take action against unarmed invaders than you might think.
I vote for sinking too.
Does anyone else ever think ‘Georgia Maloney’?
we had to sink the bismark
this is no difference
