FBI Raids Home, Office of Los Angeles School Superintendent

The FBI confirmed to The Los Angeles Times that agents raided the office and home of Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Alberto Carvalho.

LAUSD officials said that authorities notified the district of the investigation. They are cooperating with the FBO.

The search included Carvalho’s home in Miami, where he served as superintendent in 2022.

“We searched a residence in Southwest Ranches today as part of this matter and have since cleared the scene,” Jim Marshall, spokesman for the Miami-Dade FBI Office, according to The Miami Herald.

Marshall said the FBI did not search the Miami-Dade County Public Schools headquarters.

The affidavits remain sealed, and no agents divulged information about the case.

However, the agents who spoke with The Los Angeles Times said that the case “specifically involves Carvalho.”

Interesting.

People will scream that President Donald Trump’s administration targeted Carvalho due to his criticizing its immigration policies.

Carvalho described the policies as “immoral, unethical, and illegal” in September.

The left will ignore that a cloud hovered over Carvalho in Miami when the Miami-Dade school system’s inspector general investigated his nonprofit in 2020:

Carvalho had helped solicit a $1.57-million donation from an online instruction company for a foundation that Carvalho oversees. The company had a contract pending with the district. Once hired, the company provided an online platform that was mired in problems and quickly scrapped, the Miami Herald reported.

The inspector general couldn’t find any “actual violations,” but the move created “the appearance of impropriety.”

The office recommended that the organization return the donation.

That’s not what happened.

The nonprofit foundation handed out $100 gift certificates to most of the Miami-Dade County public school teachers.

The Los Angeles Times mentioned Carvalho’s investigation in Miami. The Miami Herald left out the detail.
