Democrats to Defy Leadership With Protests for Trump’s State of the Union

The Hill reported that some House Democrats have developed ideas to protest President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries already gave his members two options: boycott the address or remain silent.

A few members gave Jeffries a migraine during the 2025 SOTU, especially Rep. Al Green (D-TX). Authorities had to remove him after he shouted repeatedly as Trump started his speech.

The Democrats couldn’t even applaud or show any normal human emotion when D.J. Daniel, a 13-year-old who survived brain cancer, became an honorary Secret Service agent.

Did the Democrats applaud for Jason Hartley, a high school senior who lost his father, an LA county sheriff’s deputy, in the line of duty, when Trump announced he was accepted to West Point?

Nope.

Others flashed paddles with “False” and “Musk Steals” messages on them.

Looks like 2026 could be a repeat because some Democrats can’t control their Trump Derangement Syndrome:

While some Democrats are making a quieter stand by skipping the high-profile event, others are prepared to walk out midspeech and bring guests to underscore their arguments about the real-world impact of Trump’s policies.“The only question for me is which of his disgusting lines prompts me to get up and leave, because at some point I will,” Rep. Jared Huffman (D-Calif.) told Axios.Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-Mich.) told The Hill via text message that he’s “thinking” about protesting during Trump’s speech, though he didn’t share specifics on what exactly he’ll do.“I don’t have details to share but this President is not above [the] law, his massive corruption, unconstitutional actions, his insults to our allies and despicable acts at Epstein’s island must be protested,” he said.

Rep. Leger Fernandez (D-NM), the chair of the Democratic Women’s Caucus, promised that the members will make sure that the world knows their opinions on Trump.

The caucus also has plans to do “a lot of stuff around the State of the Union.”

Rep. Gwen Moore (D-WI) said she plans to bring a small-business owner from her district who advocates for Obamacare.

Rep. Jennifer McClellan’s (D-VA) guest will supposedly be able to tell everyone how Trump’s “policies have made it harder for him and his family to make ends meet as they face an active health care crisis.”

Have fun, Jeffries.
