Why didn’t anyone budget for this?
It turns out that not every federal agent Minneapolis has a body camera.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem is changing that:
I just spoke with @RealTomHoman @ICEDirector @CBPCommissioner. Effective immediately we are deploying body cameras to every officer in the field in Minneapolis. As funding is available, the body camera program will be expanded nationwide. We will rapidly acquire and deploy body cameras to DHS law enforcement across the country. The most transparent administration in American history—thank you @POTUS Trump.
After the Renee Good shooting, we found out that ICE sent out body cameras to agents in select cities in 2024.
ICE did not choose Minneapolis at that time.
You would think after the BLM riots in 2020 that the feds would put Minneapolis on the list.
Body cameras received bipartisan support on the Hill during the spending fight.
President Donald Trump suppots Noem’s decision.
