What’s Happening? Having Flipped Against Hamas, Dem Pols In Unison Now Back Iranian Protesters
For What It’s Worth: Something’s happening here, what it is ain’t exactly clear.
Something’s happening here. What it is ain’t exactly clear.
We covered how Democrats politicians in unison and contrary to every message they’re sent since the October 7 Massacre, declared that public support for Hamas was unacceptable and antisemitic. We asked, What’s Behind the Democrats’ Sudden Pivot on Hamas and Antisemitism?
The talking points just dropped.
Now they’re condemning Hamas.
The Democrats are pure phonies. pic.twitter.com/TUzc1ocsAJ

I think it’s an election set up, they are going to use the “Woke Right” against Republicans not only in the 2026 midterms, but particularly if JD Vance is the Republican nominee in 2028. His proximity and friendship with Tucker Carlson and the Groypers will be a major Democrat theme, but that can’t work unless Democrats switch gears from their anti-Israel, pro-Hamas — and yes antisemitic — persona.
So they are up so to something. No one believes they had a change of heart.
And now Democrats have come out supporting the protesters in Iran, despite doing everything dating back to Obama to keep the Mullahs in power.
What did they put in the Democrat drinking water this weekend? What's going on? pic.twitter.com/k8fzDYcTXZ

Little history on AOC and Iran:
-She condemned Trump for killing top Iranian regime terrorist Qassem Soleimani
-She condemned Trump for blowing up Iran's nuclear facilities
-She co-sponsored legislation to prevent the U.S. military from taking action against Iran
-She was one… https://t.co/gqVTXIgClX

This is hilarious because she supported every single move that maintained the regime alive at the expense of American taxpayers, but because it’s a no brainer at this point that the regime will collapse and supporting uprisings is a popular stance, she is politically adjusting. https://t.co/WFzs8n3EEK

I don't know what's going on here with these Democrats suddenly switching gears like this, but I'm certain it signals nothing honest or good. Simplest answer is they're riding a wave back into acceptability, but is that all? https://t.co/HPRBLSAIJa

Denouncing pro-Hamas protesters and now the Iranian regime. Democratic internal polling must look really interesting right now. https://t.co/iCiWSOqEZD

” I support the 2nd amendment but [insert NFA, assault weapons ban, pot possession, bump stocks….]” says the Republicans.
Politicians pretending to be something they aren’t and voters eating it up.
You dont say.
I could have just as easily substituted balanced budget, or “emergency COVID” health care subsidies smh.
I agree that it’s probably a pivot to the old “anti-semitism only comes from the right” playbook which means all this BS about JD Vance or anybody else being “too close to” a bunch of f’losers like Tucker Carlson, Nick Fuentes, and whatever the f a Groyper is PLAYS RIGHT INTO THEIR HANDS. If you don’t have ironclad evidence that somebody in the current administration is a stone-cold Jew-hater, quit complaining about them not sufficiently denouncing whoever has put a bee in your bonnet today.
Fer christ sake Trump and everybody else in the administration is 100 percent behind doing away with the closest thing to the Third Reich on the planet, the Iranian Mullahs, and is doing a helluva lot more to make it happen than any Republican administration in my lifetime, going back to Ronald Reagan.
Unfortunately Vance is too close to Carlson.
And that time Kanye West tricked Trump into hosting Fuentes continues to hurt Trump, and will be fodder for Democrats for much of the next decade; never mind that Trump had almost certainly never heard of the guy.
Only to low information leftist intellectual Pygmies like certain posters here.
You know, you’re so predictable.
Do you mean because I speak the truth? Yes, I suppose that does make me predictable. You never know what lie a liar will tell, but there’s only one truth.
No, he means you’re so predictable because you are so arrogant and don’t know the difference between opinion and “truth”. I am reminded of that famous quotation by one of our greatest Jurists, Learned Hand:
“The spirit of liberty is the spirit which is not too sure that it is right; the spirit of liberty is the spirit which seeks to understand the minds of other men and women; the spirit of liberty is the spirit which weighs their interests alongside its own without bias”.
Sultan, do you deny that Vance is too close to Carlson? Or that Trump having been tricked into hosting Fuentes for lunch is still hurting him and being used to falsely portray him as a nazi sympathizer? Or is it that you think he did know who Fuentes was, and willingly hosted him anyway? It’s got to be one of those three.
IMO we should focus on what political leaders actually do while in power/office. On that basis what is the problem with Vance?
Yes. See Lyle H Rossiter’s work on the liberal mind. Most libs are borderline criminals, primarily out of ignorance.
Milhouse leftist masters don’t like Vance because he’s going to be the next president.
So they have to scream ‘nazi’ and ‘racist’ even louder, and Milhouse has to call attention to it, while concern trolling about it.
It’s about demoralization.
Milhouse isn’t a leftist. IMO he seems like a classical liberal, and more of a textualist v orginalist though he does have a tendency to be overly pedantic. His views as expressed here at LI are very much within the broad ‘conservative’ coalition.
I will say that the hoopla about Vance seems very overblown. He gets to decide who his friends are and his conversations and status of relationships with them are theirs not ours. Obviously others can disagree but in fairness they need to state a strict universal standard that can be applied to all situations and then be willing to have it applied.
Personally I think this whole ‘X is friends with Y who did something I don’t like and even though X didn’t have diddly squat to do with it I’m gonna be upset with X and try to get others to be upset as well’ is goofy. It comes across middle school Mean Girls behavior to try and regulate/manipulate other people’s relationships.
Azathoth is a filthy liar as usual. He deliberately and constantly defames me as a Democrat and a leftist, knowing that it’s not true. To this purpose he will tell any lie in the world. He is a demon from Hell and belongs back there.
Chief, there’s no difference between textualist and originalist. Originalism means interpreting a law strictly according to what its text says, as it was understood at the time it was enacted.
For statutes enacted last year, the text obviously means the same thing now as it did then. For laws (statutes or the constitution) enacted in the late 18th century, the text must be read with the meaning it had then, not with the meaning we would attribute to it were it to be written today.
Milhouse,
The distinction between the two different approaches is that textulism looks at the text of the statute and the appropriate section of the Constitutional text in a near vacuum with the outlook that ‘if the legislature, Founders or drafters had wanted to say X then they’d have done so directly and unambiguously within the text and no effort to divine what they truly meant to write is needed. In contrast Originalism adds to the textulism approach the historical context, legislative record/intent and intent of Founders and drafters of later Amendments. IOW the names are derived from a very short description of their different philosophical approach.
Chief, the drafters’ intent is irrelevant. So are the ratifiers’ intent. The law is not based on what’s in certain people’s heads. Otherwise we could never know what the law is, at least as long as those people are alive and can tell us they intended something different.
The law is the text they approved and published, that everyone could read and understand. And it means what a reasonable person, accustomed to reading legislative language, would have understood it to mean at that time.
Where the historical context comes in is in determining what language enacted two centuries ago actually meant to its original readers. The minds we’re trying to read at this distance are not those of the legislators but of the public to whom the language was addressed, and who were expected to understand it. They operated not only with a language that has evolved since then, but in a historical context that would have controlled how they understood it.
If you focus on what political leaders actually do, then Vance doesn’t actually do anything, because his position doesn’t come with any authority to do anything. It’s inherent in his role as VP that he’s about what he says, not about what he does.
Any problem with a VP is by definition a political problem. And as a matter of politics, he is far too close to Carlson. He needs to distance himself from him, and he refuses to do so. Which means he is giving Carlson moral sanction, and that’s a point against him.
‘Too close’ is very ambiguous. Distance himself? What exactly is it he should do? Are you demanding he denounce Carlson? Please be specific and not evasive about what steps you want to see Vance undertake and the reasons why. Please no version of ‘TC is obviously an (X ism/ist bad person) and everyone knows it’. It is very important to be extremely precise when we start up what some might say resemble Maoist demands. I don’t think were there yet but we seem to be moving in that direction.
For that matter why should his private relationship with Carlson be an issue when Vance isn’t running around in public with Carlson or going on his podcast or praising him? For all we know Vance has told Carlson privately some or all of the message you want delivered. If Vance was inviting him to the VP Residence, as his official guest at State Dinners, bringing him into his office IOW in an official capacity I’d agree.
Chief, yes, I think he needs to explicitly and publicly denounce Carlson for his views on Jews and on Israel, and to state that there is no room in the conservative movement for someone with those views. I think he also needs to tell Carlson’s son that if he wants to remain employed with him he must make a public statement that while he loves his father he disagrees with him on this issue. He also needs to stop having Carlson over the White House for lunch, and letting him sit in on meetings with him and the president concerning significant foreign policy initiatives.
Carlson and his admirers have created a situation where Vance appears to be joined to him. Vance needs to make it clear that he isn’t.
Milhouse,
Thank you for that very direct answer. Too often some refuse to clearly state their case specifically.
As I understand it Carlson attended a briefing/meeting between Trump and oil executives. IMO that’s on Trump not Vance. Carlson may or may not have had more intimate/personal meetings behind closed doors with Trump and /or Vance while there, I haven’t seen any definitive reporting that says Carlson had such a meeting.
IMO I see a good deal of condemnation of Vance for what he has Not done v what he has done. Further I don’t see the same folks making that case v Vance condemning Trump for his own ‘failure’ to denounce Carlson.
In the article you linked there seemed to be some conflation about antisemitism and tepid support for Israel. This is, IMO, an error. Israel is a wholly legitimate, sovereign Nation with the right to defend its Citizens in the manner their leaders choose. That doesn’t mean they are ‘more equal’ than other Nations. Some ardent Israel supporters in the USA seem to claim the USA has a duty to always support Israel no matter what without any limiting principle.
While that level of support has mostly been the case (a few less supportive WH Admin aside) for nearly 80 years many ordinary folks have grown weary of such commitments. That’s true for NATO and all such ‘entangling alliances’ not just Israel. I would hope that the ardent Israel supporters would be willing to acknowledge the distinction between those of us who want to end most of the post WWII security arrangement status quo and the loony antisemitic goons who go after Israel as a standalone effort while ranting about goofy ‘Jewish conspiracy’ crap.
My own take on Carlson is that he’s got issues. He seems off or his own beliefs are coming forward. His ‘just asking questions’ routine has lost its shine.
Politically the problem for Vance (and DJT) is that the most outspoken supporters of Israel have created a narrative many interpret that less than enthusiastic support of Israel much less opposition to Israeli policies will get you lumped in with antisemitism and groypers. Its not a fair minded claim and is overused. Due to the lack of clear distinction made by ardent Israel supporters if Vance and Trump denounce TC b/c of his stance on Israel they risk alienating a much larger percentage of folks than the truly antisemitic groypers. Its a thorny problem. IMO there’s a way to figure out how to do it but I don’t have much optimism that their effort to thread that needle won’t be met by claims they ‘didn’t go far enough’ by the most ardent Israel supporters.
Thanks again for engaging in a good faith exchange.
Chief, it was Vance who invited Carlson for lunch in the White House. He needs to stop doing things like that.
Trump has less need to distance himself from Carlson, for several reasons. First and most obvious: he isn’t running again. Second, he was never as associated with Carlson as Vance has been. Carlson more or less made Vance, so by default they’re Siamese twins unless and until Vance publicly severs that connection. And third, Trump’s own position against antisemitism is so obvious and clear, and has been for his entire life, that he doesn’t really need to make it any clearer.
And let me be clear about something else: Antizionism is antisemitism. Opposition to Israel’s existence, and to its right to defend itself by the same means that all nations do and that we do ourselves, is antisemitism.
No one claims that Israel is “more equal” than other nations; it’s those who complain about American support for Israel who are claiming it’s less equal than other nations.
The USA has a moral duty to always support Israel, simply because it’s the right thing to do. That doesn’t mean giving Israel money. It means moral and diplomatic support, the same as it gives all friendly and free countries, such as the UK and Australia.
As for financial assistance, the US does have some moral obligations there, because of all the times it has forced Israel to compromise its own security and interests in return for promises of such aid. Most of those promises were broken, and Israel has paid a heavy price for them. But in particular I’m now thinking of the promises the US made to Israel in return for giving the Sinai back to Egypt, and in return for bringing the PLO snake into its bosom and establishing the PA.
If the US wants to stop giving Israel money then morally it ought first to get the Sinai back from Egypt and give it back to Israel, and to allow Israel to abolish the PA.
However I have long believed that the US money does Israel more harm than good, precisely because it has led to all these suicidal concessions, and that Israel would be far better off refusing both the US money and the US opinions. So I’ve never objected to people like Paul or Massey wanting to stop giving both.
It should be borne in mind though that most of the US “aid” is actually aid for the US defense industry, since it must be spent in the US. Also that loan guarantees don’t actually cost the US anything, since Israel has never defaulted on its debts. They don’t even affect the interest rates the US pays on its own debt, since they’re a drop in the bucket.
Agree about Vance being too close to Carlson.
Now that AOC said it was okay to support the Iranians being massacred by the disgusting theocratic regime; I guess we can now expect dumbass loser keffiyah kids to follow suit? After all they can’t do anything unless their phones tell them to. Can you imagine being a moron college kids these days on campus with you grateful dead t-shirt, playing frisbee on the quad with your keffiyah on, while you have weekend plans to protest at a Jewish restaurant and scream how much you love Hamas and hate Jews at patrons eating matza ball soup. How confused and mad are you going to be by AOC’s post? Will your head spontaneously combust? Reminds me of the line from a song from the 1990’s about the fall of the Berlin wall “a woman on the radio talk about revolution when it’s already passed her by.” A bit late AOC after propping up that anti-woman anti-human regime for years, now you are going to pretend to care? Maybe she and everyone else realizes that reality is crashing in on their red-green alliance, and the walls of reality are closing in. Guess what Russia, China, Qatar, Iran, Cuba and Venezuela are evil. Hamas and Hezbollah (same difference) is a terrorist organization. And if Iran is free they will open up warm relations with Israel because the actual people of Iran don’t hate Jews or Zionists (as she likes to call us). A very different middle east is possible one that has another free nation besides Israel. And these idiots will have had no hand in it. It was all Trump. If kama-lama ding dong had been elected Iran would be stronger than ever and resurgent, likely threatening very realistically to drop nukes. Trump deserves 4 nobel peace prizes for all he has done for the world.
Opportunists.
Liars one and all.
1000^^^
Democrat socialists grasping at political straws to try and halt their accelerating slide into the cesspool of history.
All of the Iranian rebellion surge can be sourced to one thing: the liberation of Venezuela, which the Demsocialists vehemently opposed, and still do. None of this rebellion was seen during the Biden autopen years.
Now they are trying to shed their Hamashole status? This is as bad as that other failed concept: gender “fluidity,” and as effective.
They can’t grab PRESIDENT Trump’s coattails, so they scrabble in the dust for purchase. I include the bulk of the RINOs in this select, failed group as well.
Remember, practitioners of Islam can lie any time, anywhere and about anything according to the Quran and Hadith’s. If Dems are so enamored with Muslims (as in MN) they can lie about anything.
Nah, they already turned on AOC, and consider her to have sold out to the establishment.
Riiiiight.
Weren’t you leaving?
Why don’t you leave, to Hell where you belong?
That the left has turned on AOC is a fact, for which I provided evidence. You can’t deny it so you deflect.
It’s not worrying arguing about this. AOC has lost some of her loyal followers due to being slightly less crazy or more in the center. But she’s still very radically left. So you are both correct !
Azathoth is never correct about anything. His entire purpose on this forum is to harass and defame me.
I believe you’re referring to the Billy Joel song: “We Didn’t Start the Fire”. Your comment reminded me to listen to it again, and it’s probably more relevant today than ever. Change some of the names and places, and the stories are the same.

And/or —
“Of course we support each and every protest against Trump, ICE, DHS , just like we support the protests against the Iranian regime.”
We have ALWAYS been at war with (quick — make up a fourth coalition!!)
Wake me up when they turn against welfare fraud, and they support voter-ID.
See you in 20, Rumplestiltskin!!
Dems must believe that Iran’s socialist/communist group will seize power.
It will be the Shah.
They will flip in a minute if Israel or Trump makes a move. They will not be able to sustain because it is inauthentic and the base will not accept the message in the end. It has already taken sides.
As for Iran, and the U-Haul event in LA targeting pro-Iran supporters, the Shah may have been hated, but the replacement far worse. An animated film, Persepolis, captures what happened through the eyes of a little girl. Well worth the watch.
That’s is a beautiful movie !
The Dems support the Iranian revolt until Trump sends help. Then it will be colonizing or US trying to control their oil.
Maybe they suddenly realized that there aren’t enough spoiled college brats and menopausal Karens to give them a majority and they’re trying to win back the sane vote.
“Win back?”
Horseface has no working brain, so its actions are justified.
Two AOCs in one, a bargain….
The vile, stupid and evil Dhimmi-crats are doing what they always do — changing their political postures and rhetoric, not because of moral probity, courage or a devotion to truth, but because of crass political expediency, self-preservation and shifting political winds.
These reprobates are so despicable.
Demsocialist “stupidity fluidity.”
The Dhimmi-crat pieces of excrement were staunchly for genocidal Islamofascism/Muslim supremacism, before they feigned to be against it.
What’s happening? Elections in November are happening.
Probably all depends on how fast and bad the Iranian government falls
Suddenly backing the Iranian people at the expense of the mullahs is just cover to get the news from Minnesota off of the front page. There has never been a demonrat willing to challenge the mullahs for the past 47 years.
Bingo!! And never let a Demsocialist manufactured crisis go to waste….
IMO, the d/prog are moving to embrace Iranian street protests b/c they see the writing on the wall. The regime is weak, seems ripe to collapse. The d/prog can jump on the bandwagon to be on the correct side of an 90/10 issue. Doing so allows them a fig leaf to use against arguments that the d/prog always seem to carry water for Islamic Terrorism.
So facile for AOC to post that she “supports the Iranian demonstators.” Someone give her a daisy: I love them, I love them not …
they know they need to have any future iranian immigrants on their side when the come to this country
Remember. Jezebel was beautiful before she got into power too.
