People on the left seem to think nothing of threatening political figures they don’t like.
Campus Reform reports:
Authorities investigate UMass Lowell radio DJ’s threat to ‘kill JD Vance’
A University of Massachusetts Lowell alumnus hosting a school-sponsored radio program has sparked an FBI investigation after publicly calling for the murder of Vice President JD Vance.
The student, identified only by his account name on BlueSky, hanslopez.bsky.social, commented “it’s simple, we kill JD Vance” in response to another user’s post asserting that “JD VANCE THINKS BRITAIN & FRANCE ARE AMERICAS [sic] LIKELY ENEMIES.”
UMass Lowell stated that upon learning of the post, administrators reached out to law enforcement to deal with the potential threat.
“UMass Lowell police promptly coordinated with the FBI, Secret Service and Haverhill police the same day to ensure an appropriate response,” a university spokesperson told Campus Reform. “Contact was made with the individual in question, and the necessary assessments were conducted in collaboration with federal partners. Authorities confirmed there was no immediate threat.”
The university has condemned the student’s post, denouncing all threats of political violence.
“UMass Lowell takes seriously any threat of violence involving our community. Statements such as the post in question are inconsistent with the values of our democracy and our university,” the school said in a statement provided to Fox News. “The individual in question has since resigned from his volunteer role at WUML and removed the post from his Bluesky account.”
UMass Lowell confirmed that the account which made the post was owned by a school alumnus.
According to WUML’s website, the station was started more than 60 years ago as an avenue for students’ creative expression, existing in order to “[promote] and [celebrate] local and up-and-coming artists from all across the world. With weekly programming that showcases new music from a wide range of genres which include indie rock, metal, punk, hip-hop, pop, blues, as well as folk, and others, WUML strives to share and impart a love and appreciation of new and local music with the international listening audience.”
