Trump Announces 25% Tariff on Countries Doing Business With Iran

“This Order is final and conclusive.”

President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he will slap a 25% tariff on any country doing business with Iran.

“Effective immediately, any Country doing business with the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a Tariff of 25% on any and all business being done with the United States of America,” wrote Trump. “This Order is final and conclusive.”

Vijeta has done a wonderful job with his posts on Iran:

Do you know who is in bed with Iran? China and Russia.

Other countries include India, Iraq, Pakistan, Turkey, and the UAE.

While Trump declared his order “final and conclusive,” the Supreme Court will soon decide whether he has the legal authority to impose global tariffs.

The decision could come next Wednesday.

This increases the pressure on the Regime insiders. In order to get any meaningful change in Iran it has to be at least mostly internal.

I am sure that Trump is getting a lot of info from our intelligence as well as Mossad. Hopefully that means that some generals are ready to support the opposition. Perhaps the regular army can isolate the Republican guard, cut off water and power to their facilities and force capitulation.

This it’s about the response I expected. Keep up the sanctions and jack up the pressure. I approve. We’re certainly not sending troops

any Country doing business with the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a Tariff of 25% on any and all business being done with the United States of America,

Other countries don’t pay US tariffs. Nor do their residents. Americans pay them, when purchasing goods from vendors in those countries. Those countries’ governments are affected only indirectly.

And by “doing business with Iran” does he mean that those countries’ governments deal with the Iranian government, or does he mean simply that they allow their own people to trade with Iranian people? Because if he means the latter, that makes no sense. He’s still allowing us to trade with Iranians; we can sell to them as before, and we can buy from them by paying an extra tax. So why does he expect those countries to prevent their people from doing the same?

    Milhouse —> Exactly!
Vague criteria. I do not see how it can be enforced as a practical matter. But ‘practical matter’ and “US Customs” are rarely in the same sentence. Google ‘harmonized tariff codes’ and skim through the volumes of descriptions and codes.

Tariffs won’t stop the killing.
