‘Sic Semper Tyrannis:’ Maduro’s Capture Is Both Strategically and Morally Justified

‘Sic Semper Tyrannis:’ Maduro’s Capture Is Both Strategically and Morally Justified

In defending American interests, Trump’s administration also supports strategic allies like Israel and safeguards the ideals of Western civilization.

The brilliantly executed U.S. strike against Venezuela resulted in the capture of its illegitimate President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, who had been indicted in a U.S. court on various charges, including narco-terrorism and conspiracy to possess weapons and other destructive devices against the United States.

Overwhelming numbers of liberty-minded people across the globe are rejoicing at the prospect of freedom, prosperity, and stability brought about by Maduro’s arrest.  As a survivor of Communism, I, too, feel elated to witness the end of an especially brutal regime that impoverished and enslaved a once-thriving nation. When communism collapsed in my native country of Bulgaria, we joyfully gathered in front of the U.S. Embassy and chanted “USA! USA!”

The recent U.S. strike is indicative of another important statement made by President Trump’s foreign policy. Some popular influencers use the cover of national interest and “isolationism” to attack and discredit any international intervention by our country. Trump’s position, however, is one of principled realism and informed patriotism.

In defending American interests, Trump’s administration also supports strategic allies like Israel and safeguards the ideals of Western civilization. This includes operations that protect American peace and security, such as those against Iran’s nuclear arsenal and now against Venezuela’s narco-terrorism.

It is not just strategic interest and Realpolitik that motivate the current international policy decisions. It is also the commitment to liberty and quintessential American principles. Dennis Prager often reminds us that “America first” does not mean “America only.”

If it hadn’t been for the American intervention, South Korea would not exist today as a thriving and free society. It would have been devoured instead by the North Korean regime, whose barbarous elimination of human rights and ubiquitously imposed starvation illustrate what the natural progression of totalitarian socialism looks like. Hopefully, Venezuela has now been spared such a fate.

Margaret Thatcher famously remarked that in America she felt as if she were at “the heart of the free world.” This is radically different from fighting forever wars or exporting woke ideology to Islamic countries. In defending her strategic interests, America also secures the values and the very existence of Western civilization.

In his “Farewell Address to the Nation,” President Reagan remarked:

Common sense also told us that to preserve the peace, we’d have to become strong again after years of weakness and confusion. So, we rebuilt our defenses, and this New Year we toasted the new peacefulness around the globe…. [O]ne of the things I’m proudest of in the past 8 years [is] the resurgence of national pride that I called the new patriotism…. An informed patriotism is what we want.

There is criminal indictment in the SDNY –

Zero chance of conviction – Far too many people in the SDNY that irrationally hate Trump and who are basically communists and therefore will acquit Maduro.

Doesn’t matter. Venezuela’s free. Things are not going to go back to the way they were. Maduro’s time has come and gone.

Won’t they be tried under Federal statutes. Will capital punishment be on the table?

I question the venue. If Maduro is being accused of importing tons of cocaine into the US he could have been tried anywhere with a greater chance of conviction than SDNY. Why not Miami, Texas or North Dakota? Guam? American Samoa?

Because he was already indicted in SDNY. There would need to be an new indictment elsewhere in a more favorable venue, which is probably already in the works.

If you are watching CNN or MSNow (or whatever) you would think otherwise. If fact you are doing so, you could easily be forgiven for pulling together your go bag.

So far only comments from our Leftist representatives, still waiting for the Commassar Judges to jump into this.
Won’t have a lot of faith in any court in NY to convict either of the 2

Agreed – zero chance of conviction in SDNY – see my comment above

If not convicted, release him to the celebrating mobs in Venezuela’s streets.

You know, I like the cut of this Nora’s jib. She can really write.

I’m jealous that no other country came to save us from an illegitimate president who was running a crime ring so brazen that Vito Corleone would have blushed.

As to holding the trial in the SDNY, I think it might be of secondary importance to find him guilty. He’s been ousted from his illegitimate position as president and not even Judge Boasberg can undo that. Or maybe we can keep Maduro and send Boasberg to Caracas.

Democrats now love dictators

El President Rubio

And VP Pete

“I understand she was just sworn in, but she was, as you know, picked by Maduro. Marco [Rubio] is working on that directly. He just had a conversation with her, and she’s essentially willing to do what we think its necessary to Make Venezuela great again, very simple,” President Trump told reporters.

At another part of the press conference, President Trump said that Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth will be a “team” that will work with the people of Venezuela to make sure that “we have Venezuela right.”

Less than one year into Trump’s 2nd term VS what could’ve been with drunken cackle pants and tampon Tim. Good grief we dodge a nuclear bomb.

Harris would be sending pallets of cash to Maduro and the Somali scams would have been permanently covered up.

An Israeli pager would have been more fun though . . .

And a round of applause to Pete Hegseth for not blabbing about this to random people beforehand! Well done, Pete!

Sic semper tyrannis?
That feels pretty feeble when Virginia is about suffer under a tyrant. Can someone snatch the new gov and AG and maybe deport a couple million or so from the north end of the state?

(The phrase is Va’s motto.)

Four years ago at a local gettogether, noted gun rights author Alan Korwin was handing out worthless 500 Bolivar bills as party favors. We’ve had a couple riding our refrigerator since then. It would certainly be fascinating if 2026 becomes the year that Kenmore outperforms Fidelity.

One thing that people on the left haven’t talked about is why it’s acceptable to have Cuba, China, and Russia control Venezuela through Madura over the decisive wishes of the Venezuelan electorate? Their position is that we should sit on our hands while these three brutal regimes slowly take over our hemisphere. Recent elections in Argentina, Ecuador, Bolivia and Chile indicate that the population is starting to reject communist control. The Venezuelan people made a mistake electing Chavez, and the options to correct that quickly evaporated. Hopefully they take advantage of the opportunity presented by the removal of Madura, and the populations of other South and Central American countries realize that they will have support from the US if they seek freedom and liberty.

Leftists only dislike some “Kings”, Dictators they do like and will fight for. I am not so sure how this will play out because our justice system is packed with Leftists, assigned to the case or not they won’t be stopped from sticking their foot in the door way.
As for Venezuela, will the people get a choice or like us the corruption is no doubt so deep and wide it may not be stopped.
