Report: Alex Pretti Broke His Rib During ICE Confrontation a Week Before Death
The story of how it supposedly happened made me raise my eyebrows.
A person told CNN that Alex Pretti, the man fatally shot by a border patrol agent over the weekend in Minnesota, suffered a broken rib during a confrontation with an ICE agent the week before.
It is unclear how Pretti first came to the attention of federal authorities, but sources told CNN that about a week before his death, he suffered a broken rib when a group of federal officers tackled him while he was protesting their attempt to detain other individuals.
In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security said that “DHS law enforcement has no record of this incident.”
A memo sent earlier this month to agents temporarily assigned to the city asked them to “capture all images, license plates, identifications, and general information on hotels, agitators, protestors, etc., so we can capture it all in one consolidated form,” according to correspondence reviewed by CNN.
Of course, CNN framed Pretti as an innocent bystander, claiming the incident “is another reflection of the aggressive approach federal agents are taking with observers and protesters – a philosophy underscored by the request for agents to collect information about protesters whose activities are broadly protected by the First Amendment.”
Yeah, let’s take a look at the incident again: “he suffered a broken rib when a group of federal officers tackled him while he was protesting their attempt to detain other individuals.”
Wow. It must have been chaotic. How could this happen? Let’s see:
The earlier incident started when he stopped his car after observing ICE agents chasing what he described as a family on foot, and began shouting and blowing his whistle, according to a source who asked not to be named out of fear of retribution.
Pretti later told the source that five agents tackled him and one leaned on his back – an encounter that left him with a broken rib. The agents quickly released him at the scene.
“That day, he thought he was going to die,” said the source.
FIVE agents tackled him?
CNN said it reviewed records that showed Pretti received “medication with treating a broken rib.”
But does anyone have proof that the incident even happened?
Honestly, it sounds like a story you would tell because you’re too embarrassed to admit you tripped over your feet and broke a rib.
DHS told ICE agents in Minneapolis to submit a form called “intel collection non-arrests” with information on any agitators or protesters they encounter.
Remember, DHS said it has no record of the incident described by Pretti and the source.
But the source insisted that federal agents knew of Pretti.
🚨🚨🚨 BOMBSHELL: Alex Pretti, the Minneapolis protester had a prior run-in with ICE just a WEEK earlier. He obstructed an immigration op, got tackled by agents (broke his rib), but they released him on scene.
Fast forward: Confronts agents again, allegedly pulls a gun, gets… pic.twitter.com/kp491fMu1S

You had an interaction with ICE and thought they were going to kill you and you went back with a gun. Hmmm. When did he purchase that gun? It appeared in like new condition to me.
Also pretty spry for a guy with one week old broken rib.
“When did he purchase that gun?”
In a state that requires permits, the question may not be worth asking. If he had a permit, he almost certainly started that process way more than a week ago.
Sig 320. Soooooo it was either on sale for 2 dollars or he’s had it a while.
Sig 320 has been in the news a lot this past year… and not in a good way.
Martin – 3-4 weeks for broken rib to heal. That was my thought. Since He was back at it after a week, most likely was only bruised rib.
Well in the incident we have on camera, we can see that touching an agent on the arm is enough to get dogpiled by five agents. So the threshold may not be as high as one would think.
That action is legally battery, even on you or me.
The difference is, when it’s on a cop, there’s always a cop around to enforce it.
Right and use of force doesn’t care about things like proportionality or necessity or “the totality of the circumstances” or whatever legal mumbo jumbo
It doesn’t actually. Proportionality is required for self defense between citizens engaged in conflict. Police do not have a requirement to meet force with proportional amount because they have license to use extra force in order to end a threat. It’s a caveat that allows them to do a job where they are put in situations of physical conflict at a high frequency.
Oh, I think the “totality of the circumstances” were EXACTLY apprised,
You don’t do it during a traffic stop — you CERTAINLY don’t during a riot.
It’s “felony assault,” dude.
When you’re in that hostile? No, there is no caring about that crap
Hostile environment

Video of pretti kicking the car and breaking a taillight, spitting at the car and a take down by agents prior to his being stupid enough to go back.
So your argument is that there should have been less agents so he could pull his gun and shoot them?
Yes, if done with intent. He was not patting the agent on the back.
Sweet Sister Josephine! You are absolutely right. The video clearly shows one of the agent’s arms being touched. You can clearly see him turn to the agent next to him and alerts him that his arm was touched. He, in turn, alerted the other four agents. After which, they get in a huddle and all five conspired together to dogpile on Pretti. Clear as pie.
It was a Pretti dogpile though.
Sounds Good to me…
Touching an agent on the arm–> Interfering with an arrest. And then resisting arrest. And yes, the use of force certainly cares about things like proportionality, necessity, and the totality of the circumstances. An arrest justifies as much force as is needed to safely subdue the subject.
Remember that in the second Rodney King trial, the one that convicted two of the four accused, the judge concluded that all but the last six blows were justified. It was only the last six blows that were excessive, because they were delivered after he had stopped resisting. Three out of the four cops noticed this and stopped hitting him. One continued, so he was convicted for that, and his supervisor for not stopping him. So that is the standard.
And in those circumstances, those of a person resisting arrest, his having a gun — which would normally be a non-issue — creates a reasonable concern for the officers’ safety. Yes, you have every right to go about armed, and yes, even at protests. But if you are armed, you should be especially careful not to get into an altercation with the police, and should certainly not resist arrest. On the contrary, as soon as they tell you you are under arrest, not only is it your duty to submit peacefully, but you should also immediately inform them that you are armed, and cooperate with their disarming you.
You consistently prove you don’t know anything about the law.
Law is not covered in troll school.
He’s a prolific porn actor and is too busy to attend troll school. He’s winging it.
I have no idea who Milhouse is, but he sounds to me like he DOES know about the law. He is also one of the most balanced comentators on this site, not just a rusted on hack!
It’s clear you’ve never had training on how to subdue someone who is resisting even mildly, pulling the arms in, going onto knees. It is a real pain in the ass to get cuffs on someone who isn’t ‘fighting’ offensively but is squirming around, refusing to allow hand holds. It takes multiple people to subdue someone doing that IF you aren’t trying to seriously injure them, which LEO ain’t trying to do b/c of the hassle if nothing else. Sure there’s some over eager cops with ego problems who like to be violent but that’s a tiny minority and usually they get weeded out once their agency gets hammered in a lawsuit/judgement. If theses guys had wanted to hurt him they’d have pulled one arm back, reversed it and knee dropped their full body weight on his elbow to break and/or hyper extend his elbow joint. I can assure you 99.9% of people will stop their resistance and be thinking only about doing nothing that delays medical attention at this point.
“Cigarette” Butz, bringing teh stoopit again.
I would say that “touching an agent on the arm” while he’s engaged in arresting criminal illegals is grounds for a solid ass-kicking.
I’d also say that doing that while carrying a concealed loaded firearm qualifies one for the prestigious Darwin Award.
Why are you here typing? Why aren’t you in Minneapolis with a weapon?
Probably why his parents cautioned him not to do something stupid.
Apparently his parents also said he had a permit for awhile but never actually carried the firearm. Until the other day…
Wonder how many years they had to do that.
From videos included in Andrew Branca’s review of the fatal shooting, it appears that Pretti intervened in an ICE agent dealing with a female protester, that female being knocked to the ground. Pretti entered that fray by pushing the agent and trying to drag the downed female away— a rescue, so to speak. That is when Pretti garnered the focus of other ICE agents there. The rest is history. It looks like Pretti had a habit of inserting himself into other persons business.
The autopsy should shed some light on the “broken rib” issue.
There is an old country song that centers on a mother’s plea: “Don’t take your guns to town, son. Leave your guns at home..” That remains pretty good advice today, as well.
The term these criminals use is “de-arrest”. It’s a deliberate tactic, and needless to say it’s a felony.
Oops. My </blockquote> got messed up there.
The song is about someone young and dumb who wore his guns to town looking for trouble, thinking the guns made him invincible. And he got killed because he tried to kill someone who laughed at him.
For truly sad song take a listen to
‘Ruby, don’t take your love to town’
That be Johnny Cash.
Good song.
This sounds fishy.
Smells fishy too.
….and gfloyd was drugged out 50+lbs overweight etc etc
they dont care and it wouldnt be that big of a deal that lefty doesnt care except
they run this country from pre-k to the black matriarchy
Pretti’s friend: “VCU anti-ICE nurse references paralytic drug in video instructing healthcare providers to ‘sabotage’ agents”

Watch out for nurses, especially if they use pronouns.
Plenty of Conceal Carry readers here.
Does anyone disagree that if YOU (meaning you are reading this AND have CC permit in your possession) were to go hands on with one or more LEOs while packing, there is a greater than 90% chance you will end up dead? Do that in a volatile and violent environment and that goes to 97%.
Anyone who has studied justified civilian use of fire arms for more than 2 minutes knows even if you are lawfully in the right in the shooting, you are 70% likely end up in handcuffs and in the back of a police car while they work out what happened… and that’s a good shoot scenario for shooting someone invading your home. Lesser scenarios are worse (Kyle Rittenhouse, George Zimmerman).
Fighting with a LEO while packing is the exact opposite of what a sane and sober CC person does. It’s literally a Darwin award unfolding.
“Fighting with a LEO while packing is the exact opposite of what a sane and sober CC person does. It’s literally a Darwin award unfolding.”
A sane and sober nurse going to a protest would’ve carried a first aid kit instead of a gun.
There are videos of traffic stops where the driver has a gun, has is permit on a chain around his neck, and announces it to the stopping officer while keeping his hands on the wheel. Now that is someone who knows the law and wants to live through the traffic stop.
Brandon Herrera just posted that it was a Sig 320.
So not only does Pretti have the bad judgement to scuffle with cops, but he’s bringing a gun that has been proven to “just go off” to a riot.
OMG!!!!!
“CNN said it reviewed records …” But it’s CNN so most likely they reviewed them after printing them, which came, in turn, after creating them in MS Word.
The man was born without a survival gene. No sane person would, go armed, to a riot, and start pushing the cops around. He was there to cause trouble, he let it get out of hand by resisting arrest. The news maggots are already running cover for him. The maggots are as guilty as anyone with the anti government sentiment they display, fanning the flames of dissent hotter. They have a guilty hand in these deaths as well as the rioters. Until we can learn to live together in peace nothing will change.
It sickens me to see people act like this.
I can only guess he never got a spanking while growing up.
The Officers that reacted and shot him probably feel just awful about it.
When I saw the picture of the SIG P-320 pistol, my thoughts immediately jumped to it’s reputation for accidental discharges.
I was considering purchasing one, but when I was researching the firearm, I discovered this. No sale here.
But it all goes back to the song…
“Don’t take your guns to town son, leave you guns at home, Bill…”
It is a sad situation.
And the Democrats, as usual, are taking the wrong side again, it’s predictable.
