Nation’s Top Teacher Union Funneling Millions to Far Left Groups

Nation’s Top Teacher Union Funneling Millions to Far Left Groups

“The filing also details hundreds of thousands of dollars flowing to organizations backing ballot initiatives aimed at reshaping education policy and election laws in states, including Ohio, Massachusetts, Arizona and Wisconsin.”

The National Education Association, one of the largest teacher unions in the country, is apparently spending millions of dollars on left-wing political causes. Why do you suppose that is?

We knew that teacher unions spend a mint trying to get Democrats elected, but this goes well beyond that. And of course, none of this has anything to do with education. It’s about power and money.

FOX News reports:

Unearthed filing shows top teachers union funneling millions to far left orgs: ‘Social justice unionism’

One of the nation’s most prominent teachers unions funneled millions of dollars in union funds to far-left activist groups, ballot initiatives and social justice organizations, according to federal labor filings.

A November Form L-2 disclosure from the National Education Association (NEA) filed in November and obtained by the North American Values Institute (NAVI) shows 2024 fiscal year spending that involved millions given to social justice-oriented groups and far-left causes.

The NEA, which boasts more than 3 million members, sent $300,000 to the Sixteen Thirty Fund, a liberal dark money group Fox News Digital has reported on extensively, and tens of thousands of dollars to the Tides Foundation network, which Fox News Digital previously reported has ties to anti-Israel protests and a variety of far left causes.

Among the largest expenditures was more than $3.5 million sent to Education International, a global teachers federation where NEA President Becky Pringle serves as a vice president. The filing also details hundreds of thousands of dollars flowing to organizations backing ballot initiatives aimed at reshaping education policy and election laws in states, including Ohio, Massachusetts, Arizona and Wisconsin.

The union reported spending $500,000 to support a campaign to end standardized testing in Massachusetts, another $500,000 to back an anti-gerrymandering amendment in Ohio and nearly $500,000 to a progressive political consulting firm specializing in ballot initiatives and canvassing.

This was discussed on FOX News yesterday:

More from the New York Post:

The NEA gave $30,000 to Win Without War, a “movement for progressive foreign policy” whose new campaign is “Defund ICE,” on the ground that its agents “are inflicting incredible violence in our communities, including murder, with impunity.”

Millions of bucks have gone for policy briefings for black pastors as well as to oppose standardized testing in Massachusetts and promote racial equity training and anti-gerrymandering measures in Ohio.

And this cash flows to the NEA from dues subtracted from teachers’ paychecks, and so from the taxpayers.

Again, this is not about education or students. It’s about keeping the left in power, and it should be stopped.

Obviously, based on this and pupil standard scores, teachers are overpaid and underachieving

    Not teachers, indoctrinators.

Statistically, most teachers came from the bottom third of their high school class.

    It shows!

When I was obtaining my post baccalaureate teaching cert (for some God forsaken reason. Okay, it was tuition free for professors and I had this insane dream of bringing back rigorous science to high schools.) from a local state university, my class was 99% early ed, while my friend and I were the only two hard science, secondary school level, and he dropped out for personal reasons.

The courses were painfully easy, explaining why most of the ed classes graduate “summa cum laude,” which is a joke. It’s like Jill Biden’s Ed.D., considered a joke among doctoral level degrees. Needless to say, the teachers were rabid leftists, propagandizing nascent teachers to brainwash future generations.

      I weep for the future.

Decertify the union. Break them up. This has nothing to do with negotiating teacher’s salaries and working conditions.

There should not be unions for public employees. It makes absolutely no sense. If there are unions they should be completely nonpolitical and confine themselves to salary and benefit negotiations. No political activities or lobbying of any sort permitted,

Can we just save time and add clarity by calling this union a domestic terrorist organization? Education is not their first, second, or third priority.

How is this newsworthy? It’s like a story about the sun rising in the east.

I guess it pays to bring it to the forefront of the public’s attention every so often.
Look how much money the Beatles made by singing “Here Comes The Sun.”

Public schools are the ultimate captive audience.
