Leftists Call for a January 23 Anti-ICE Day of Action in Minneapolis
In response to ICE’s continued presence in the state, activists plan for an “ICE Out of Minnesota: Day of Truth and Freedom” with rallies scheduled in other states
Minneapolis labor organizations, the Revolutionary Communists of America, and the Twin Cities Democratic Socialists of America chapter, among others, are calling for a day of action or a general strike on January 23.

The president of a local teachers’ union described that ICE has “only been around for 23 years. The concept of abolishing a system isn’t that far-fetched. I don’t think it’s going to be that hard to say that maybe it shouldn’t exist, either as it is or at all.” She further said, “There will be a reckoning … Whatever office you hold, whatever way of doing business that was status quo for you, say goodbye to that because we didn’t come this far to only get this far.”
Minneapolis educators are tired of seeing their students, colleagues, and neighbors terrorized by ICE. Marcia Howard, President of @MFELocal59, spoke out against the attacks on her community, demanding ICE out of MN, ICE out of everywhere! pic.twitter.com/gmEFCAFOJj

The local DSA chapter encourages participants to take advantage of Minnesota’s Earned Sick and Safe Time law by claiming a paid “mental health day” from work, which DSA says would not require an employee to provide documentation.
Demands include:
• ICE must leave Minnesota now.
• The agent who killed Renee Good must be held legally accountable.
• No additional federal funding for ICE in the upcoming Congressional budget and ICE be investigated for human and constitutional violations of Americans and our neighbors.
• Minnesotan and national companies to become 4th Amendment Businesses – cease economic relations with ICE and refuse ICE entry or using their property for staging grounds.
Multiple businesses in the Twin Cities have announced closures “in solidarity” with the action. Others are remaining open but have pledged either to donate profits (several to the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota) or services.
January 23 rallies in support are scheduled in at least a dozen other states, including New York and California.
One postal worker described the demands of federal postal workers, who are statutorily prohibited from striking, as including that ICE “stop using postal property to stage their raids.” When asked whether there was anything else he wanted to say, he responded “Free Palestine.”

Otter:… Oh no. No, in this case, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody’s part.
Bluto: And we’re just the guys to do it.
Remember that boycott of Chick-fil-A a few years ago? Didn’t work out the way the organizers expected, did it?

I’m going out on a limb here and suggest that this union boss is functionally illiterate and has no business teaching any child anything.
As to whether ICE should exist or not, I can easily find legal justification for their existence.
Teachers unions? Not so much.

That is a long winded way of saying ‘Democrats’.
this all somewhat is going to fail with the subzero temps in msp and the upper midwest today and this weekend.
-9℉ high and -20℉ low forecast for Friday, Jan 23rd 2026 in Minneapolis, MN. So I doubt that many will show up for this
riotprotestpeaceful demonstration.Temps might keep the fires in check as well.
Oh, look, more traitors. Get the water cannons
With these temperatures no need for high pressure. Just soak them and let them walk a while in wet clothes back to their vehicles. Add in a little skunk oil just to help them remember the experience. After a few such events most of the want to be revolutionaries will have an extreme withdrawal of enthusiasm.
Oh no! They’re going to hold themselves hostage until their demands are met. Mel Brooks must be one of their strategy consultants.
My response.
Double ICE’s budget
Decertify Public Unions
Double the ICE contingent in Minnesota
wondering if omar ever orders
ice with her water
She’s probably triggered by ice like Serena Williams is triggered by cotton.
I can’t believe VP Vance went to Minnesota and declared no need for insurrection act.
The president of a local teachers’ union described that ICE has “only been around for 23 years.
What exactly did they think INS was prior to ICE being formed by the Homeland Security Act of 2002. In fact, the Immigration and Natural Service was absorbed into ICE.
That’s about the same time that BATF added the E onto their name.
Woops, the clock starts over! There go all your pensions!
The vast majority of MN citizens will ignore this shitshow. They can’t protest, they HAVE JOBS.
Just as a thought, how about those of us in the rest of the country declining to purchase goods and services from Minnesota, especially Minneapolis. Yes, there are free people in hostile territory there; but Minnesota is at war with the rest of the country, the Constitution, and federal law.
Subotai Bahadur
Other than abrasives, adhesives, and thermostats, what’s there?
A lot of food products.
Gee, it’d be too bad if there was a January 23rd “day of action” against communist pieces of trash.
Would we even need a day? We could probably schedule it for a coffee break.
Looks like a counter protest to Right to Life Day today.
Sounds like a great day for coordinated hits on criminal Somalis in Rochester, Sauk Rapids, St. Cloud, Haverhill, and maybe even St. Paul. Perhaps it’ll cause more of them to migrate to “safer zones” in Minneapolis. That would sure be a Lovely Parting Gift to Jake Frey!
“”Yo Dawg, I herd you like alien fraudsters and criminals, so I put some more aliens in your third-world hole so you can luv you some more fraudsters and thugs!”

1. So number 1 is actual secession stuff. The federal government isn’t leaving. You have as much chance of getting rid of ICE as you do of getting rid of actual ice in Minnesota.
2. He was held legally accountable. He’s just innocent so there’s nothing to charge him with.
3.ICE is getting funded. They’re always being evaluated and sued. Just like every other law enforcement agency.
4. Whatever, it ain’t happening. The vast majority of Americans support ICE. Bad business decision to cut them off.
