Sen. Fetterman Defends Trump Admin. Boat Strikes: ‘There’s Extensive Intelligence’

Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, the most reasonable Democrat in the country, strikes again.

On Tuesday, there was a Senate briefing on the recent strikes on narco-terror boats. Fetterman emerged from the hearing in full support of the Trump administration’s efforts.

Here’s some background from NewsNation:

Fetterman added at times, the military will decline to move on those pieces of intelligence they receive, and that when they do make a move, they have absolute confidence in their decision. After Tuesday’s Senate briefing on the matter, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth both praised the series of strikes, part of an operation called “Operation Southern Spear.”“This has been a highly successful mission that’s ongoing and continued, and we’re pleased to be here today to update Congress on how that’s developing and how that’s moving forward,” Rubio said. Hegseth said he “echoed that” sentiment.President Donald Trump announced a blockade of all tankers carrying “sanctioned” oil and said he has designated the Nicolás Maduro-led Venezuelan regime as a foreign terrorist organization. Trump also threatened that warships surrounding the country will only get bigger until the return of oil, land and other assets he claims belong to the U.S.

He was asked about this by Chris Cuomo during an appearance on NewsNation.

CHRIS CUOMO, NEWSNATION: Topic switch. What did you learn, Senator, that gave you any comfort that we’re not heading into some kind of extended military exercise around Venezuela or in Venezuela?SENATOR JOHN FETTERMAN: Absolutely. I thought it was pretty comprehensive. And this idea—some things out in the media—it’s kind of putting out that the military’s just picking off, you know, anybody that comes across. That’s just not true.I mean, there’s extensive intelligence, and they know exactly who’s on that boat, and they know what’s actually on that boat right now. And quite frequently, they decline to take it in, to move on those things. When they move on these kinetic kinds of strikes, you know, they have absolute confidence in who’s on it and what’s on it. And that’s exactly what it’s about. They’re not just going around randomly shooting boats. That’s just not the fact.
