Minnesota Lt. Gov. and US Senate Candidate Dons Hijab, Panders to Somalis

Minnesota Lt. Gov. and US Senate Candidate Dons Hijab, Panders to Somalis

Flanagan told viewers she was “incredibly clear that the Somali community is part of the fabric of the state of Minnesota.”

Minnesota Lt. Gov. and current Democratic Senate primary candidate Peggy Flanagan, who is not Muslim, donned a hijab and proclaimed solidarity with Minnesota’s Somali community in what amounted to a humiliating display of political pandering.

[Did no one inform the far-left lieutenant governor, who is Catholic, that this was cultural appropriation?]

In the video below (released on Thursday), Flanagan visited the Somali market in Minneapolis. She began her remarks with a Somali greeting, “As-salamu alaykum,” which means “peace and blessings be upon you.”

Flanked by two Somalis, she noted that she has been friends with the woman, Nimco, for nearly 25 years. She said, “When I think of being part of Minnesota and growing up here, the Somali community has always been a part of my Minnesota.”

While I may be mistaken, despite their long-standing friendship, Nimco’s expression throughout Flanagan’s remarks looked an awful lot like disdain. Perhaps she understood she was being used as a prop in her friend’s performative display of inclusivity. The man in the video wore a similar look on his face.

Flanagan told viewers she was “incredibly clear that the Somali community is part of the fabric of the state of Minnesota.”

She continued, “I want to just encourage the community to know that we’re with you, we’ve got your back. I am here shopping today and just encourage other folks to show up, support our Somali businesses, support our immigrant neighbors. And I know that things are scary right now, and just know that there are more people who are looking out for you, there are more people who are here to support you than you know.”

As one X user pointed out, Flanagan is the current frontrunner in the Democratic Senate primary. The fraud scandal that has engulfed the Somali community in recent weeks has only reinforced a long-standing political reality in Minnesota — the decisive role this voting bloc can play in statewide elections.

Unfortunately for Flanagan, her hijab moment landed poorly, and her transparent exercise in virtue signaling may prove more damaging than beneficial — at least among some independent voters that she needs to win.

The video certainly drew attention. But judging from the fierce backlash it received on social media, it was not the kind she’d hoped to generate.

Here are a few of the reactions:

Some commenters noted the disdainful expression on Nimco’s face:

And finally:

Last weekend, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu’s over-the-top display of solidarity with the Boston Somali community triggered similar outrage on social media. The progressive mayor said, “You cannot talk about any achievement that the city of Boston has had in safety, jobs, and economic development, in education, without talking about the Somali community that has lifted our city up.”

At least she didn’t wear a hijab.

Kissing the backside of Somalis is a requirement to be elected to office. What the woman on the right should have done is turned to the left and pointed to to her butt then told Flanagan to place her lips here.

Dems have devolved into honesty among themselves. This woman is an honest Democrat, NYC now has an honest Democrat mayor and so on. “Flanagan told viewers she was “incredibly clear that the Somali community is part of the fabric of the state of Minnesota.” Democrats used to be but I guess no more. They are finally learning the new ‘position’.

The armed forces in their tests determined that below something like an IQ of 82 that there’s simply no useful job that you can be trained for. Somalis have an average IQ of 67. So grift is what the mass receives for a living, organized by the smart ones.

“incredibly clear that the Somali community is part of the fabric of the state of Minnesota.”

It is very clear people with such a low IQ are not good foe America. Even if they wanted to assimilate, they are for the most part incapable of doing so. Dull witted groups detract from our competitiveness.

Irish Catholics are the absolute worst scum in political office. Corrupt, stupid, drunken, apostate and hypocritical.

    “Irish?”

This short drink of mayonnaise claims to be an Ojibwe Indian named “Gizhiiwewidamookwe” — “the first woman of color elected to statewide office in Minnesota.”

Hey, Peggy, want to wear a hijab?
Then shut your mouth NOW, quit your job, go home, do whatever your hubby tells you, and don’t you dare appear in public without him from now on.

Wearing that means she’s following a rule imposed by a male dominated society. A society that places women under the control of her husband and his religion. A religion that makes her a lesser human.

Flanagan donned a hijab to proclaim solidarity with the Somali community!

Will she don a poncho to show solidarity with the Hispanic community?

What will she do to show solidarity with German, Norwegian, Irish, Swedish, African American, Liberian, Ethiopian, Hmong, Indian, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Burmese, and Native American groups?

Almost ALL politicians are scum. No need to single out the Irish with the stereotypical insults.

The Kennedys gave us this peasant occupation situation that has destroyed the country I grew up in. So, yes, I single them out.

Boston has it all – except not as much now as it used to.

I did and that’s spot on. Illegal Irish immigrants everywhere and scary as hell Irish mob with zero ethics made the Italians in Rhode Island look like crème puffs.

My favorites were the Bulgers. Billy grifted off the state for years first as the Senate President and then when he as approaching retirements as U Mass Chancellor so he could really pump up his retirement pay.

His brother Whitey was a crime boss. Among his scores was strong arming a lottery winner so he would have a “legit” income and making a pet out of a local FBI agent.

The run of the family Jackey was merely a run of the mill state employee hired because of patronage.

You could make a movie out of this and I believe at least one was.

“The run of the family Jackey was merely a run of the mill state employee hired because of patronage.”

Hey, he didn’t happen to be the muttering hunchback who “ran” the last manually-operated people elevator in the free world (kept in the Statehouse just to employ him), was he?

The guy practically had “some bigshot’s brother-in-law” shining in neon lights on his waistcoat, but I never knew exactly whose.

      Handmaiden’s tail come to life
Go live under Islam awhile Peggy, and fulfill your dream

Panders to Somalis
More like “dhimmis to Somalia.” If you can use ‘dhimmi’ as a verb.

Minnesota is making California look sane.

A bored look of disdain? lol, get out of Darien and into the real world. That’s the dull look of genetic stupidity.

Someone needs to put a drawstring bag over this bitch’s head and draw the string tight. Either that or nuke her from orbit as it is the only way to be sure.

This used to be referred to as “cultural appropriation” by the lefties.

Dolce Far Niente | December 27, 2025 at 3:58 pm

” the Somali community is part of the fabric of the state of Minnesota.””

Yes, in exactly the same way that ticks are part of the fabric of your dog.

And, several years ago, some misguided and stupid idiots actually objected to my totally apt and accurate characterization of these feckless, greasy, duplicitous, subversive, self-serving, totalitarian, evil, neo-communist/Islamofascist/Muslim supremacist pieces of excrement, as “Dhimmi-crats.”

    JohnSmith100 in reply to guyjones. | December 27, 2025 at 8:01 pm

It is a shame that more people do not yet understand how awful Islam is.

      guyjones in reply to JohnSmith100. | December 28, 2025 at 7:33 am

And, equally shameful is that 1,4oo years of Islamofascists’/Muslim terrorists’ invasions, conquests, genocides, barbarism and assorted atrocities committed against Jews, Christians and other non-Muslims — continuing into the present day — and, the explicit vilification of non-Muslims and exhortations to violence against non-Muslims that are contained in “Submission’s” central/founding text, don’t suffice to educate naive, ignorant, stupid and blind leftists/Labour/Dhimmi-crats in Australian, Canada, Europe and the U.S., on this score.

On another note, Trump mentioning the birth of Christ in his Christmas message has democrats in a tizzy. But an elected official donning the religious garb of a religion that isn’t hers to show solidarity with them is totally cool.
