Israel Eliminates Senior Iran IRGC-Quds Commander in Lebanon Strike

“The target was identified as Hossein Hussein Mahmoud Marshad al-Jawhari, a key operative in the Quds Force’s operations unit.”

Israel on Thursday eliminated an senior commander of Iran’s Quds Force in a drone strike in Lebanon. The slain terrorist, Hussein al-Jawhari, was a ‘key operative’ in Iran’s Islamic Guard-Qurd Force’s Unit 840, which according a recent Israeli military report is “responsible for advancing and remotely directing acts of terrorism against Israelis and Jews in Israel and abroad.”

“The IDF and the Shin Bet security agency said Thursday they eliminated a senior operative in Iran’s Quds Force in northeastern Lebanon,” the newspaper Israel Hayom newspaper reported. “The target was identified as Hossein Hussein Mahmoud Marshad al-Jawhari, a key operative in the Quds Force’s operations unit. He was killed together with another terrorist, Majed Qansoua, according to Israeli officials.”

The Iranian commander was taken out in the area of Ansariyeh, deep inside Lebanon. He was “killed in an Israeli drone strike on a vehicle deep inside Lebanon, about 140 kilometers from the Israeli border,” Israel’s Ynetnews reported.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in a statement disclosed the elimination of al-Jawhari, describing him as “a key terrorist in the Operational Unit of the Quds Force (Unit 840), who had been involved in recent years in planning and advancing terror attacks against the State of Israel from Syria and Lebanon.”

“Hussein operated under the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and was involved in terror activities, directed by Iran, against the State of Israel and its security forces,” the IDF added. “Unit 840, the operational unit of the Quds Force, headed by Asghar Baqeri and his deputy Mohammad Reza Ansari, is the unit responsible for directing and overseeing Iranian terror activity against the State of Israel.”

The IDF also released a drone footage of the strike:

Al-Jawhari’s killing is a serious blow to Iran and its proxy terrorist group Hezbollah, which has been trying to rebuild its terror infrastructure in southern Lebanon, destroy by the Israeli ground operation in October 2024.

The Lebanese government has so far failed to disarm Hezbollah, in violation of the November 2024 ceasefire agreement brokered by President Donald Trump.

“A year of intense conflict between the Lebanese Iran-backed terror group and Israel came to a halt just over a year ago with a US-brokered ceasefire,” The Times of Israel noted.” Under the terms of the truce, Hezbollah was to be disarmed and allow the Lebanese Armed Forces to deploy fully across the country as the IDF withdrew.”
