Gavin Newsom Tries to Blame Trump for Lack of Rebuilding After L.A. Fires

“The message to survivors is unmistakable: Donald Trump doesn’t care about them.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom published a tweet yesterday that must be seen to be believed. Nearly a year after wildfires tore through Los Angeles and destroyed thousands of homes, Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass have accomplished nothing in terms of rebuilding, and Newsom blames… Trump. Just amazing:

Karen Bass has tried to single out one particular house as a success story, but she is not being candid about it.

The Daily Mail reported:

LA Mayor Karen Bass accused of telling shocking lie about first house rebuilt in fire-ravaged Pacific Palisades

The Los Angeles mayor has come under fire over a seemingly misleading update about the first home to be rebuilt after the deadly Palisades Fire.

Karen Bass, 72, announced Friday that the city has issued its first certificate of occupancy for the reconstruction of a property in Pacific Palisades, a neighborhood ravaged by fires last January.

She hailed the certificate as an ‘important moment of hope’ in a statement obtained by the Daily Mail, which heralded LA’s commitment to ‘expediting every aspect of the rebuilding process, until every family is back home.’

But Bass failed to note that the newly constructed home on Kagawa Street was not a rebuild from the blaze – as the demolition project began before the Palisades Fire erupted.

Thomas James Homes applied for a permit to demolish the one-story single-family home and its attached garage in November 2024, LA building and safety records revealed.

Although city records show the residence was impacted by the fire, the property was declared ‘non-eligible’ for the wildfire project.

As for Newsom’s claims about Trump, he should be laughed off the national stage. Instead, at least one outlet, Politico, is taking him seriously:

Newsom accuses Trump of wildfire aid snub

Gavin Newsom accused the Trump administration of rebuffing a meeting request as the California governor seeks more wildfire recovery aid in Washington, casting the refusal to make a staffer available as an unprecedented breach.

The Democratic governor’s staff said the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the Federal Resources Management Agency, told them FEMA’s acting director was unavailable and did not offer another official to meet with as Newsom presses Congress for $33.9 billion. The Newsom administration framed that freezeout as part of a larger abandonment of the Los Angeles area, arguing the White House has broken with precedent by not sending a funding proposal to Congress.

“The Trump Administration refused a routine wildfire recovery meeting — a rejection we’ve never seen before — even as LA families near a year without long-term federal financial help,” Newsom spokesperson Izzy Gardon said in a statement. “The message to survivors is unmistakable: Donald Trump doesn’t care about them.”

It has been almost a year since the fires, yet Newsom and Bass have done almost nothing.

Adam Carolla predicted the rebuild would be nonexistent back in January. He was right.

“It’s long past time for Trump to wake up and do his job,” says the governor.

Where in Article I, section 8 is that duty/power ceded to Congress?

No one is stopping you or LA from issuing building permits.*

(*Which themselves are another burden placed on the people.)

I’m still waiting to hear what happened to that $100 Million that was raised for the fire victims and why CA has the money for universal free healthcare for illegals but none for people burned out of their homes. If they shifted their priorities around a little they have the money and can issue the permits today, much like Europe they don’t want to. They want to run around dumping money out of a helicopter on their latest fantasy and then beg Uncle Sugar for cash.

So is Governor Hairgel saying the seventh largest economy (or is it sixth or eighth?) in the world needs help to take care of its own business at home? Somebody ask him why California isn’t sufficiently wealthy to handle it. Nothing’s keeping them from issuing permits.
.

Dems lie and lie always. Gov Newsom and Mayor Bass have not let permits and regulations in Los Angeles relax so people can start to build. The only house built since the fire was one that was planned before the fire, had been slated for removal when the fire destroyed it, so the permit was already there and it was built as a model home. So they are claiming this is the great build when it is not.

“Instead, at least one outlet, Politico, is taking him seriously.”
All Democrats accept this as proven fact.

Symptoms of TDS include pathological lying and never being able to discuss any political issue without mentioning Trump.

Oh, blow it out your backhole, Gavin.

Better yet, he should keep it inside till he explodes.

Hey Henry, you used to live in Northboro and you operated an ISP? What was its name?

It’s not a good place to build anything expensive owing to fire risk. Like you build cheap houses in flood plains. Unless somebody subsidizes insurance for you.

Whoops. Meant an upvote. The cost of fire damage is rising much like the cost of hurricanes. People are building in risky areas and the home prices are rising. The insurance customers are paying for others to take risks. This is often ignored.

As a famous democrat once said “All politics is local.”

The context is a bit different but it applies just the same.

As long as this mayor and this governor are in office, none of those homes will be rebuilt.

I see one bright spot in all of this. So much is blamed on Trump, no matter how outrageous.

At least it takes SOME attention of of Jews, who are to blame for so much.

Since when is the federal government responsible for issuing building permits in Los Angeles? Without the permits, nothing can be rebuilt.

It’s long past time for Newsom to wake up and do his job.

The message to survivors is unmistakable: Gavin Newsom doesn’t care about them.

(See how easy that was?)

So, when did Donald Trump become the authority that issues building permits in Los angeles?

I think Trump should pull a variation on the garbage truck or the McDonald’s fry Cook theme. Show up in the Los Angeles County built Department of buildings dressed like any other worker. Walk up to the counter and just start issuing building permits. Obviously with a press on entourage present.

Someday people will realize what is obvious and has been staring them in the face of r years:

Gavin Newsom is a stone-cold, honest-to-goodness sociopath. He is.

He has no feelings other than his own personal desires and no attachment to anything else in the universe. “Truth” is nothing but a meaningless utterance to him.

He is a true sociopath.

Greasy Newsolini is a despicable piece of excrement, like all incompetent and mendacious Dhimmi-crat apparatchiks.

Newsolini’s line is that everything good that happens in California is allegedly due to him, while everything bad that happens is allegedly #47’s fault.

So Trump is the one who manages California now? I thought California had built a trump proof fund or something of $50 million dollars so they could “fight” his policies with endless lawfare. How about they use that slush fund to re-build some homes? Just a thought.

I’d call this clown a greasy dirtbag, but it would be rather insulting to greasy dirtbags.

Dear Governor Nuisance

I must have an old version of the Constitution. I can’t find the part where it says that taxpayers in one state are obligated to pay to rebuild homes for rich people in another state.

Did these people not have fire insurance? Does the state not have energy money for these types of things?

Doesn’t the city, county, state not have the ability to remove barriers to permits so that people can rebuild?

What has the government in California done since the fires to help their own constituents?

In fact, what has the federal government done to rebuild the SouthEast after the hurricanes, given that the Burden Administration bypassed “conservative” areas?

Compare and contrast the actions taken in both situations.

Typical liberal: deflect, deflect, deflect attention from their own egregious failures – which would be everything they do. Does history record any liberal program which has been successful?
