Trump Moves to Designate Muslim Brotherhood Chapters as Terrorist Groups
“President Trump is confronting the Muslim Brotherhood’s transnational network, which fuels terrorism and destabilization campaigns against U.S. interests and allies in the Middle East.”
President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday, beginning the process of designating various chapters of the Muslim Brotherhood as foreign terrorist organizations. The order specifically targets the Islamist group’s branches in Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan.
The Muslim Brotherhood “has developed into a transnational network with chapters across the Middle East and beyond,” the Executive Order said, noting that the group’s “chapters in Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt engage in or facilitate and support violence and destabilization campaigns that harm their own regions, United States citizens, and United States interests.”

The Muslim Brotherhood, which was founded in Egypt in 1928, has influenced Islamic terrorist groups and movements across the world. Its chapters, based in Muslim and Western countries, dream of toppling the existing governments and imposing Islamic law, or Sharia.
Islamic State (ISIS) chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and Al Qaeda’s leader Ayman al-Zawahiri both got their ideological training as members of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Palestinian Islamic terror group Hamas is an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Huge congratulations to @POTUS, @SebGorka, and @NancyDahdouh for driving forward the Executive Order against the pernicious Muslim Brotherhood — a global Islamist network that endangers America and our allies. pic.twitter.com/aIquq1W1VE

The move banning the Islamist group is in keeping with the policies of the last Trump administration, Reuters reports:
Trump signed an executive order directing Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to submit a report on whether to designate any Muslim Brotherhood chapters, such as those in Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan, according to a White House fact sheet.
It orders the secretaries to move forward with any designations within 45 days of the report.
The Trump administration has accused Muslim Brotherhood factions in those countries of supporting or encouraging violent attacks against Israel and U.S. partners, or of providing material support to Palestinian militant group Hamas.
“President Trump is confronting the Muslim Brotherhood’s transnational network, which fuels terrorism and destabilization campaigns against U.S. interests and allies in the Middle East,” according to the fact sheet.
Republicans and right-wing voices have long advocated for and considered terrorist designations for the Muslim Brotherhood.
The Republican president mounted a similar effort during his first term. Months after his second term began, Rubio said the Trump administration was working to designate the movement as a terrorist organization.
Monday’s Executive Order notably leaves out the Muslim Brotherhood chapters in Qatar, Turkey, and Syria — countries where the group or its jihadist ideology holds sway over the ruling regimes. After Qatar, Turkey has emerged as the second biggest backer and haven for Hamas terrorists.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who has long led the fight in Congress and the Senate against the creeping influence of the Muslim Brotherhood in the U.S., welcomed President Trump’s executive order. “I applaud President Trump for his leadership in advancing and announcing today’s Executive Order, which is critical to American national security and to the safety of Americans,” Sen. Cruz said in a statement.
“This battle has been over a decade in the making, and it faced fierce resistance from supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood abroad and from deeply embedded bureaucrats across the U.S. government,” he added. “The Muslim Brotherhood and its branches encourage, facilitate, and provide resources for conducting jihadist terrorism across the world. They are committed to overthrowing the United States and the governments of our allies.”

Why leave out Turkey and Qatar. They are the biggest problems to us. For that matter, why the continual bending over backwards for Qatar. Currently they might be the biggest danger to us. Not only to they host Hamas and who knows who else, but they find a lot of stuff in the US (colleges anyone) which is not of benefit to us.
Why leave them out? Easy they are both ‘allies’ of the USA. Turkey is a NATO member and Qatar hosts the largest US base in the Middle East (10K troops), is home to the US.Central Command HQ and was designated the status of ‘major non NATO Ally’ giving it increased access to US Military Tech including transfers of Patriot Missiles, F-35 and Apache Helos. In addition Trump signed an EO in late September declaring US commitment to ‘mutual defense’ of Qatar if they were attacked.
Add either to list and there would be some level of repercussions and temporary diplomatic upheaval at minimum. Washington’s admonition about the dangers of the USA entering into ‘entangling alliances’ is more relevant than ever IMO.
We have a whole lot of great allies don’t we. Islamic states who attempt to subvert our society. Freeloading states that don’t pull their own weight. States that want us to protect them but won’t allow our nuclear powered vessels in their territorial waters. States that are cozying up to our foes. States that constantly criticize us and won’t support us in the UN. States that hate our other allies. Gee how benefit are we getting for these allies.
There’s issues of one sort or another with all of them. The UK is going straight up totalitarian in sending cops to round up folks for social media or public comments re rape gangs and failed immigration/assimilation policies. The EU wants to try and control content on X and other social media worldwide threatening US Corp with huge fines. Almost all imposed unfair barriers to trade with USA including some, like Israel as one example among many, imposing import quotas on US Agricultural sector so strict it was effectively a ban.
IMO we should reexamine the US relationship with every ‘ally’ under a far more narrow criteria based on a combination of commitment to the basic values of Western Civilization, direct vital US National Security interest, the openness of their economy to US exports and whether they directly support US interests with troop commitments to our military adventures and whether the ‘ally’ has made investment to create and maintain a robust military of their own.
That is a good set of criteria.
Islam in its entirety is a terrorist group.
Acts of terror carried out by Muslims are in furtherance of the direct commands of their prophet.
Now do antifa as an international terrorist organization. No teeth behind “domestic terrorist organization”
They did so a couple weeks back in a similar manner.
There is no international organization. There isn’t even a national organization. Antifa is a movement, not an organization; just like the KKK in its day. Individual foreign antifa groups can be designated, and some have been. The local ones can’t be.
And now support for antifa?
It’s looking like your leftist masters want you maskless, Democrat, if they’re telling you to do such things as parrot the ‘antifa is an idea’ lie.
Shut your filthy mouth, you lying piece of shit. How dare you accuse me of supporting antifa?
I have no masters, I am not a Democrat, and antifa is not an organization. There is no such organization. Where is its headquarters? Who are its officers? Antifa is a movement. People act in concert when they feel like it. People form local organizations if they feel like it, which have no existence beyond those people.
Wait a minute; Did Trump remember to ask all DC federal district court judges if it was okay to issue an executive order designating various chapters of the Muslim Brotherhood as foreign terrorist organizations before he signed the executive order?
My money is on CAIR and SPLC to file their lawfare suits alleging the “unconstitutionality” of the EO immediately, if they haven’t already done so.
Any foreign organization that is designated as a FTO is free to challenge it in court. Designations are absolutely reviewable by the courts, and have been for as long as they have existed.
Can Trump sign an EO designating the various US district courts as foreign terrorist organizations? Asking for a friend?
He can sign whatever he likes, but first of all the president has no power to designate foreign terrorist organizations. Only the secretary of state can do that. And second, US district courts are not foreign, nor are they organizations, and they do not engage in terrorist actions. All of which are necessary criteria.
Lighten up Milhouse. Not every comment on here is serious or requires a response. You’ll save wear and tear on your fingers.
Milhouse is on the autism spectrum. The evidence is there.
.
CAIR is entirely part of the Muslim Brotherhood, and so are the Muslim Student Associations on virtually every college campus in the US.
Long overdue to declare it a FTO. They’ve long been one of the deadliest Terrorist organizations on the planet.
The holdup, for multiple prior Presidents, was the fact that the regime in Jordan has always been part of the Brotherhood, and they didn’t want to create friction with King Abdullah. Not a peep about that this time around. Apparently, he’s no longer relevant.
I’m old enough to remember when President Obama went all-in on having the US support the Muslim Brotherhood’s regime in Egypt, and tried to reverse the coup that overthrew it. Meanwhile, his primary goal in the Middle East was establishing Iran as the regional hegemon. Insane that he was ever President. Like electing Lucifer to be Pope.
Now do CAIR.
For reference, Hamas is Muslim brotherhood, and Egypt recognizes the MB as a terrorist organization. Also, murdered Saudi journalist Khassogi was a Muslim brotherhood member as a young man, and evolved to be a vocal critic of the Prince of Saudi Arabia. Thats kinda like being a vocal critic of Putin.
