Sarah Beckstrom, National Guardsman Shot in DC, Dies
Beckstrom was shot in D.C. on Wednesday.
President Donald Trump announced that U.S. Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, died.
Beckstrom is one of two National Guardsman shot in D.C.
I must unfortunately tell you that just seconds before I went on right now, I heard that Sarah Beckstrom of West Virginia, one of the guardsmen that we’re talking about, highly respected young, magnificent person, started service in June of 2023 outstanding in every way, she’s just passed away. She’s no longer with us. She’s looking down at us right now. Her parents are with her. It’s just happened. She was savagely attacked.
Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, an Afghan national, is accused of shooting Beckstrom and Andrew Wolfe on Wednesday.
Both are from West Virginia.
Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, told the media that Lakawani would face the death penalty if either guardsmen or both died.
Wolfe remains in critical condition.
Trump said Wolfe is “fighting for his life” and “in very bad shape.”
Trump confirmed Lakanwal is in serious condition, but refused to talk about him.

Mr. Trump, why are these troops not armed? The attacker should have been shot to death at the first sign of an attack.

Peter according to news sources at least one of the victims was armed. In fact, reports indicate that the assassin even used the weapon of one victim to fire more shots.
In this case fortunately an unarmed guardsman was able to use a pocket knife to help subdue the criminal aided by another armed guardsman who shot him several times..
My son elaborated to me today that since DC was considered “safe duty” most of them were neither armed nor armored, such that the “first” responder had to take on the killer with a pocket knife before a second responder put him down with a firearm.
The Trump administration’s ambivalence and lip service about the second amendment is not only offensive to the citizens, but is now putting servicemen at risk. There is no reason to send soldiers to do soldiers’ work but leave them unarmed just to pacify the shitlibs who are the original source of the problem in the first place..
They should have had machine guns, like the civil guard in Spain during the Franco era.
