Report: Ted Cruz Aiming for 2028 Presidential Run

Axios claims Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) will run for president in 2028 by professing his conservative views while attacking Tucker Carlson.

I have to admit that it’s a great way to showcase your traditional conservative views.

But it will likely put him against Vice President JD Vance:

Why it matters: By poking at Carlson’s isolationist foreign policy views, accusing him of antisemitism and more, Cruz is putting himself on a collision course with Vice President Vance, a Carlson ally widely seen as the 2028 GOP frontrunner.

Carlson has been a regular in the headlines since his slobbering with neo-Nazi Nick Fuentes. However, Carlson has showcased his antisemitism for a while, which Professor Jacobson highlighted in August.

Cruz has been consistent in his criticism of Carlson and even fellow Republicans.

Earlier this month, Cruz called out Republican senators for not condemning Carlson:

“My colleagues, almost to a person, think what is happening is horrible, but a great many of them are frightened because he has one hell of a big megaphone,” Cruz (R-Texas) said Friday during a speech at the Federalist Society’s National Lawyers Convention in Washington.—At the RJC last week, he said he has “seen more antisemitism on the right” in the past six months “than I have in my entire life.”“If you sit there with someone who says Adolf Hitler was very, very cool, and that their mission is to combat and defeat global Jewry, and you say nothing, then you are [a] coward and you are complicit in that evil,” Cruz said. But Cruz was more forceful Friday in criticizing fellow conservatives for not forcefully condemning Carlson.“Fuentes and Tucker and the rest of that ilk have a right to say what they are saying,” Cruz said at the Federalist Society convention. “Every one of us has an obligation to stand up and say it is wrong.”“It’s easy right now to denounce Fuentes,” Cruz added. “Are you willing to say Tucker’s name?”

On X, Cruz shared a portion of a newsletter from independent journalist David Reaboi that trashed Carlson.

“Tucker is now-literally-calling Jews…Nazis,” wrote Cruz.

This afternoon, Harris Faulkner asked Cruz about the rumors on Fox News.

Cruz dodged the question but expressed the work he’s doing for his Texas constituents. He also did not mention Tucker Carlson:

You know reporters are going to write headlines that get get clicks and get eyeballs. I got a job. It’s representing 31 million Texans, and it’s fighting every day for 31 million Texans. And I’ll tell you right now, the winds we are getting are historic. The one big, beautiful bill you were talking about just a minute ago, I was blessed to write major portions of that bill. I’ll tell you two victories in that bill that I’m most proud of. Number one, I authored and passed into law the single most far reaching federal school choice bill that has ever passed. Tens of millions of kids will get billions of dollars of scholarships to get out of failing schools and get to excellent schools of their choice that will transform the lives of 10s of millions of kids. And number two, I authored in the law the so called Trump accounts, that starting next year, every child in America will have a personal investment account. You’ll have $1,000 for newborns seated in that account. Parents can give up to $5,000 a year. It will be invested in the S&P 100 and Harris, every single child in America is going to be an owner of the major employers in America. We’re going to be a whole new generation of capitalists. And so the victories we are winning are a big deal. That’s where my focus is, and it’s why my focus right now is on the Christians in Nigeria, because working hand in hand, I was at the White House last week with the President talking to him, thanking him for standing up for the Christians in Nigeria. As you noted, when Biden turned the other way, more and more murders occurred, because when the commander in chief is absent, is a wall. Bad guys do really bad things, and I’m really glad we now have a strong commander in chief, who will stand up and say, We’re not going to do nothing while you commit mass murder of Christians.
