Israel Destroys Hezbollah Terror Targets in South Lebanon Strike

Israel, on Thursday, carried out a wave of airstrikes in southern Lebanon, hitting Hezbollah missile launchers and weapons storage sites. The military “struck and dismantled Hezbollah terror infrastructure in several areas in southern Lebanon,” the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a press release on Thursday afternoon.

“As part of the strikes, the IDF struck several launch sites where Hezbollah weapons were stored,” the IDF statement added. “Additionally, the IDF struck a storage facility that contained weapons, military posts that were used by Hezbollah terrorists to advance terror attacks against IDF troops, as well as additional terror infrastructure sites.”

The strikes come days after Israel eliminated Hezbollah’s military chief and second-in-command, Haytham Ali Tabatabai. On Sunday, Ali Tabatabai, who was wanted by the U.S. as a terrorist with a $5 million bounty, was killed in a Beirut airstrike.

In recent months, the Iran-backed group has been trying to rebuild its terrorist infrastructure — tunnels, weapons depots, underground bases — destroyed nearly a year ago in the Israeli ground offensive in southern Lebanon. According to the Israel National News, the slain Hezbollah leader was “leading the terrorist organization’s buildup and rearmament.”

Israeli forces struck Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon Thursday afternoon, the first such assault since the killing earlier this week of Hezbollah’s top military commander Haytham Ali Tabatabai, the IDF said.

The initial strike hit the village of Mahmoudiyeh, with subsequent attacks on additional villages. According to an IDF statement, the Air Force, guided by Military Intelligence, targeted terror sites including weapons depots, rocket-launch sites and military positions used by Hezbollah to plan attacks against Israeli forces.

The operation follows Sunday’s airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburb of Dahieh, which killed Tabatabai, known as Hezbollah’s de facto second-in-command. That assault, dubbed “Black Friday,” was the first Israeli strike in Dahieh since June. Lebanese reports indicated the strike hit residential floors in an apartment block; three people were killed and about 25 were wounded. Hezbollah acknowledged Tabatabai’s death, but did not issue an immediate retaliation threat.

Iran, Hezbollah’s main backer, has been rattled by the recent Israeli successes. The Mullah regime is trying to drag Lebanon into another war with Israel. After Ali Tabatabai’s elimination, Ali Akbar Velayati, the top foreign policy adviser to Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei, declared that Hezbollah’s terrorist campaign against Israel was “more important to Lebanon than bread and water.”

Israel is determined to keep Hezbollah out of southern Lebanon. On this day exactly a year ago, IDF troops crossed into Lebanon after the terrorist group relentlessly bombarded northern Israel following the October 7 massacre, forcing over 70,000 civilians to flee their homes.

The IDF on Thursday warned that “presence of the infrastructure sites and the activity of the Hezbollah terrorist organization in these areas constitute a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon.”

BBC recalled that last year’s “truce, brokered by the US and France, required Hezbollah to remove its fighters and weapons from the south of the Litani river, about 30km (20 miles) from the border with Israel.”

Israel busts Turkey-based network funneling weapons, money to Hamas in the West Bank

Israeli police and security services have busted a Turkey-based network funding and arming Hamas terrorists in the West Bank. With Hamas’ terrorist capabilities nearly destroyed in Gaza, the group’s backers are trying to bolster its position in the Palestinian Authority-controlled West Bank.

Two weeks ago, Israel’s domestic intelligence service, Shin Bet, dismantled a Hamas terrorist network in the Judean city of Bethlehem, capturing over 50 terrorists in a series of raids. These Hamas terror cells were plotting to carry out shooting attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers, the Shin Bet revealed.

The Jerusalem Post reports:

The Shin Bet on Thursday uncovered a network of Israeli citizens from Kafr Kassem and Rahat who, allegedly, acting on behalf of Hamas, moved weapons and funds into the West Bank in recent weeks.

The network operated under the direction of Ahmed Tzarzur, an Israeli citizen living in Turkey, the Shin Bet noted.

The suspects were arrested in joint operations with the Israel Police, and indictments are expected to be filed in the coming days, the agency said.

According to the investigation, Tzarzur, originally from Kafr Kassem and now based in Turkey, leveraged family and social ties to recruit locals and build a clandestine transfer route for arms and money into the West Bank.

The Shin Bet said the funds, totaling hundreds of thousands of shekels, were intended to reach terrorist operatives to facilitate attacks.

The agency said the money was sent from Turkey to Israel in cryptocurrencies, then converted by Israeli money changers into cash used to purchase weapons from dealers in the Negev. The weapons were then smuggled to the West Bank.
