A commander of Hezbollah’s terrorist Radwan Force was taken out in an Israeli strike earlier today in southern Lebanon.
“The IDF on Monday struck and eliminated the terrorist Muhammad Ali Hadid, a commander in Hezbollah’s Radwan Force in the Nabatieh area in southern Lebanon,” Arutz Sbeva/Israel National News reported.
The 2500-strong Radwan Force, trained and armed by Iran’s Islamic Guard (IRGC), spearheads Hezbollah’s terrorist campaign on Israel’s border with Lebanon.
The slain Radwan Force’s commander was trying to restore Hezbollah’s terrorist infrastructure in southern Lebanon. He “advanced numerous terror attacks against the State of Israel, and recently, he has continued attempts to reestablish Hezbollah terror infrastructure sites,” the IDF disclosed in a statement on Monday evening.
The IDF also killed another Hezbollah terrorist, who was gathering intelligence on troops posted across the border. The military “struck and eliminated a Hezbollah terrorist in the Ayta ash Shab area. The terrorist was observed attempting to gather intelligence” on military positions, the IDF confirmed.
The IDF strikes highlight Hezbollah’s continued attempts to reestablish its presence on Israel’s northern border. In early October 2024, the Israeli military carried out an eight-week-long ground operation to flush out Hezbollah terrorist forces and destroy their Iran-funded terror infrastructure — such as tunnels, weapons depots, and missile launch pads — in southern Lebanon.
Israel ended the ground offensive in late November, complying with a ceasefire deal brokered by President Donald Trump. Under the U.S. plan, the Lebanese government is obliged to disarm the Iranian-backed Shia-Islamist terror group by the end of 2025.
U.S. Ambassador to Turkey, Thomas Barrack, recently observed that Lebanon is incapable of fulfilling its obligation of disarming Hezbollah, calling it a ‘failed state,’ Fox News reported Sunday:
U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Thomas Barrack, who also serves as envoy to Syria, said Saturday in Bahrain that Lebanon is a “failed state” because of its “paralyzed government,” The Associated Press reported. He also noted that Hezbollah retains 40,000 fighters and between 15,000 and 20,000 rockets and missiles, noting the terror group pays its militia $2,200 per month, whereas the Lebanese Armed Forces soldiers earn $275 a month and have inferior equipment as well.
