House Likely Voting to End Schumer Shutdown Today

The final vote should take place at 7 PM ET.

The House will hold a procedural vote today at 5 PM ET on the funding bill, after it passed the House Rules Committee on Tuesday night.

If the legislation survives the procedural vote, the official ballot should take place at 7 PM ET.

The bill does not contain an extension for Obamacare subsidies.

However, it promises a stand-alone bill to take up in December.

The bill funds the government through January 30. It allocates funds to the agriculture, defense, and veterans departments, as well as the legislative branch.

The Democrats will likely vote against the legislation sent back from the Senate.

The Republicans can only lose two votes. It appears, though, that the party is unified. From Fox News:

The vast majority of Democrats are still against the legislation, including House Democratic leadership, but GOP lawmakers across several ideologically diverse factions have signaled confidence in a nearly unified Republican vote.

House Freedom Caucus Policy Chairman Chip Roy, R-Texas, said he heard no dissent on the bill from his band of fiscal hawks.

“I’m not going to speak for everybody, but I think there’s general support. So you know, I’m unaware of any opposition of significance,” he told reporters Tuesday night.

House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole, R-Okla., said, “Nothing’s ever easy around here. But, look, I didn’t notice any dissent … I think the votes will be there on our side.”

The Senate finally passed its version of the continuing resolution on Monday when seven Democrats and one Independent crossed the aisle.

The shutdown won’t end until President Donald Trump signs the bill.

Given the utter lack of crowing from Democrats over this it really does sound like they got nothing for their shut down antics.

They got a exactly what they wanted. A talking point, albeit a false one, to use during the run up to elections.

I think The Great Grillmaster Chuckles is burnt toast no matter what, now. He might as well announce his retirement when his term is up. He is probably waiting until after the Midterms to throw in the towel.

To any honest person who watched this 41+ day kabuki theater playout, and observed the audience reaction on social media, it was painfully obvious there’s a massive population of Americans who do not understand how our government works either because they are willfully ignorant or deliberately deceptive.

Painfully obvious.

We will not survive another 250 years let alone another 20 without a severe intervention.

It’s actually worse than that. Most of my law school class had no idea how a bill became law, how laws, were enforced, how the branches of the govt worked, etc. Basically no real concept of civics. The ones that did understand were conservatives. And this was 12 years ago.

The deliberate miseducation of Americans is finally bearing fruit.

All this unnecessary drama & angst because…..
(A) Dems were shocked, shocked to find that a “temporary” “emergency” subsidy – which was that way because thats the way the bill that they wrote, passed, and Obama (Blessed Be His Name) signed was written…..
Was only temporary. And…..
(B) They hate Trump more than they love their constituents.
