President Donald Trump gushed over his meeting with Chinese dictator President Xi Jinping, who promised to crack down on fentanyl, bring in more agricultural products from America, and pause his rare-earth export limits.
Trump wrote on Truth Social:
I had a truly great meeting with President Xi of China. There is enormous respect between our two Countries, and that will only be enhanced with what just took place. We agreed on many things, with others, even of high importance, being very close to resolved. I was extremely honored by the fact that President Xi authorized China to begin the purchase of massive amounts of Soybeans, Sorghum, and other Farm products. Our Farmers will be very happy! In fact, as I said once before during my first Administration, Farmers should immediately go out and buy more land and larger tractors. I would like to thank President Xi for this! Additionally, China has agreed to continue the flow of Rare Earth, Critical Minerals, Magnets, etc., openly and freely. Very significantly, China has strongly stated that they will work diligently with us to stop the flow of Fentanyl into our Country. They will help us end the Fentanyl Crisis. China also agreed that they will begin the process of purchasing American Energy. In fact, a very large scale transaction may take place concerning the purchase of Oil and Gas from the Great State of Alaska. Chris Wright, Doug Burgum, and our respective Energy teams will be meeting to see if such an Energy Deal can be worked out. The agreements reached today will deliver Prosperity and Security to millions of Americans. After this Historic trip to Asia, I am now heading back to Washington, D.C. I want to thank the Great Countries of Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea for being so generous, gracious, and hospitable — Also, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, who were at the Dinner last night hosted by His Excellency Lee Jae Myung. Hundreds of Billions of Dollars are being brought into our Country because of them. Our Nation is Strong, Respected, and Admired Again and, THE BEST IS YET TO COME!

From Fox News:
After the talks, Trump said he and Xi had “an amazing meeting” and that both sides had reached “an outstanding group of decisions” on key economic and security issues. The president said Xi agreed to begin immediate purchases of U.S. soybeans and other farm goods and that China would work “very hard” to block fentanyl from entering the U.S.
Trump said he would cut the tariff rate on Chinese imports by 10 points – from 20% to 10%, according to his description – though an aide clarified that the rates would be closer to 45-47%, in response to Xi’s promise to crack down on the flow of fentanyl.
“I believe he’s going to work very hard to stop the death that’s coming in,” Trump said.
I don’t know about you, but I refuse to believe anything Xi says.
Earlier this month, Trump imposed a 100% tariff on China when he found out the communist country planned to tighten its exports on rare earth minerals.
The decision has led to Trump making numerous deals with other countries concerning the elements.

As a great man once said, “Trust, but verify”.
And as another great man once said, “Jaw jaw is better than war war”.
None of this was on the table with Obama & Biden occupying the White House for twelve years. I’m perfectly happy waiting to see if Trump is indeed successful.
For a change they’re at least talking instead of just taking advantage of us
I am intrigues by Trump’s method of talking big and fierce before a meeting, then after, only kind things to say about the leader. He seems to have a way of letting people “save face” at home. I think this is a good method to win friends.
but I will reserve judgement until after action is implemented and results start showing
Trump always seems to have this strange ebullient affinity for whoever talked to him last.
I think it’s more calculated than that. We have enough data on Trump by now to know that he will 180 that mess if things go south. He’s not afraid to say the exact opposite and contradict Trump then with Trump now if the situation demands.
I used to hate it, but I’m starting to get that it’s all part of the strategy. Praise can help smooth things if the other side has genuine interest in compromise. Don’t mistake that for weakness. People know by now that Trump is going to turn on you if you turn on him and don’t live up to your promises and agreements.
The deal is for a year. In my opinion, that is too long to watch the Chinese violate the agreement. I say that it should be month to month. Miss a month and the tariffs increase by the percentage of the non-compliance.
WRT Rare earth metals, I suspect Trump is trying to buy enough time for us to spin up our production of Rare Earth Metals and other critical resources.
I think it’s a good strategy and profoundly alarming that we are forced to adopt it.
I also think while the next 3 years are critical for us, what will really count is who controls our government following Trump.
“President Donald Trump gushed over his meeting with Chinese dictator President Xi Jinping,”
President Trump speaks this way to all
Leaders
He’s a showman and loves to make other leaders feel good and look good, as he, makes deals for America
Think of his being nice after he has reamed them as an alternative to personal lube.
China, like Hamas is to never be believed untli it is verified. Even then it must be watched constantly to be of any value. For a fun mental cartoon, try to imagine Kamala doing what he just did! Or Biden. I saw Schumer already saying Trump caved to Xi and the fool doesn’t even know what’s in the agreement.
Instead of trying to balance just enough tariffs with regulation cuts to avoid tanking the economy and maintain the economy exactly as it was under Biden why not just kill them all and end up with a booming economy?
2028 if the Democrats nominate someone sane is as good as lost as it stands now. By every metric grocery prices have gone up a little bit just as it was while Biden was president.
Like it or not the cultural issues I care about and no doubt other LI readers care about speak to very few people. Donald J Trump is president because he promised to tackle inflation and recreate the 2020 economy.
Maintaining the Biden economy with endless exceptions to his tariffs while companies pass on the prices to the consumer even if the prices are low because they also pass on regulation savings to the consumer……..
“It’s the economy stupid”
As true today as in the 90s, and betting on the opponent getting a nut job as their nominee is not a good bet and we shouldn’t want a Democrat nut job as their nominee because there is a chance the Democrat wins.
