Trump to Announce Tariffs on Colombia, Ends Aid Over Drugs

“Petro, a low rated and very unpopular leader, with a fresh mouth toward America, better close up these killing fields immediately, or the United States will close them up for him, and it won’t be done nicely.”

President Donald Trump will announce new tariffs on Colombia on Monday while ending all aid and subsidies if the country doesn’t get its act together regarding drugs.

Trump wrote early Sunday morning on Truth Social:

President Gustavo Petro, of Colombia, is an illegal drug leader strongly encouraging the massive production of drugs, in big and small fields, all over Colombia. It has become the biggest business in Colombia, by far, and Petro does nothing to stop it, despite large scale payments and subsidies from the USA that are nothing more than a long term rip off of America. AS OF TODAY, THESE PAYMENTS, OR ANY OTHER FORM OF PAYMENT, OR SUBSIDIES, WILL NO LONGER BE MADE TO COLOMBIA. The purpose of this drug production is the sale of massive amounts of product into the United States, causing death, destruction, and havoc. Petro, a low rated and very unpopular leader, with a fresh mouth toward America, better close up these killing fields immediately, or the United States will close them up for him, and it won’t be done nicely. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President Donald J. Trump

According to Fox News, Colombia receives the most in American aid in the region.

The country received $230 million this year. It has reached $700 million in previous years.

The cuts “could affect military cooperation and undermine efforts to fight rebel groups.”

However, why bother if Colombia isn’t doing anything about the drug trade?

I mean, it’s not a secret that Colombia is a hot spot for cocaine.

Trump doubled down on his criticisms on Sunday night:

And in fact, even when they had better presidents than they have right now, they were, that’s how they’re making a lot of money drugs. I used to complain about it when they had a very nice president, but he wasn’t doing, it was it was all talk.

They are a drug manufacturing machine, Colombia, and we’re not going to be part of it, so we’re going to drop all money that we’re giving to them they have. It has nothing to do with them stopping drug production. And you look at the fields, the fields are loaded up with drugs, and they refined the drugs, and they make tremendous amounts of cocaine, and they send it all over the world, and they destroy families.

Now Colombia is out of control, and now they have the worst president they’ve ever had. He’s a lunatic who’s got a lot of problems, mental problems.

The war of words comes after Trump acknowledged another strike on a suspected drug boat on Friday.

Two people survived, and two people died. Trump confirmed they would go back to their homes, Ecuador and Colombia.

The boat supposedly carried enough narcotics that would have killed 25,000 Americans:

It was my great honor to destroy a very large DRUG-CARRYING SUBMARINE that was navigating towards the United States on a well known narcotrafficking transit route. U.S. Intelligence confirmed this vessel was loaded up with mostly Fentanyl, and other illegal narcotics. There were four known narcoterrorists on board the vessel. Two of the terrorists were killed. At least 25,000 Americans would die if I allowed this submarine to come ashore. The two surviving terrorists are being returned to their Countries of origin, Ecuador and Colombia, for detention and prosecution. No U.S. Forces were harmed in this strike. Under my watch, the United States of America will not tolerate narcoterrorists trafficking illegal drugs, by land or by sea. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

DONALD J. TRUMP
PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Petro claimed the boat belonged to a fisherman who had no known drug connections.

That…that didn’t look like a fishing boat.

Will there be tariffs on the drugs?!?

The tariffs will be on coffee. I believe it’s their biggest legitimate export.

The Colombian Govt should consider how the USA has historically solved issues in our hemisphere when we choose to focus on problems in our own neighborhood instead of things half a world away. It wouldn’t set any precedent to carve another chunk of territory out of Colombia to create a more friendly Nation.

Trump can/should tax remittances – to Columbia, Venezuela, and really everywhere else. But, hit the worst offenders with the highest tax.

Let me see if I have this right … the aid payments were actually made to satisfy Hunter’s insatiable appetite for drugs?
