Trump Peace Plan: Netanyahu Says Hostage Release to be Finalized ‘in Coming Days’
President Trump: Hamas to face “complete obliteration” if it refuses to hand over control of Gaza.
With President Donald Trump putting pressure on Hamas to deliver on his Gaza Peace Plan, Prime Minister Netanyahu, on Saturday night, told Israelis that the remaining hostages could return home soon.
In a televised address, Prime Minister Netanyahu said that he hopes to announce the release of 48 remaining hostages, of which 20 are thought to be alive — “in the coming days.”
Despite Hamas’s ongoing attempts to water down and sabotage the 20-point Gaza plan, the return of the hostages could be finalized during the weeklong Sukkot festivities that start on Monday. “It is not yet final; we are working on it diligently, and I hope, with G-d’s help, that in the coming days, during the Sukkot holiday, I will be able to inform you about the return of all our hostages, both living and deceased, in one phase, while the IDF remains deep within the Strip and in the controlling areas within it,” he assured.

Israeli negotiators were heading to the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to finalize the hostage deal, the prime minister disclosed. “I have instructed the negotiating team, headed by [Minister of Strategic Affairs, Ron] Dermer, to go to Egypt to close the technical details of the release of our hostages,” Netanyahu said. “Our intention and that of our American friends is to limit this negotiation to a few days.
The Trump “peace plan proposes an immediate end to fighting and the release within 72 hours of 20 living Israeli hostages held by Hamas – as well as the remains of hostages thought to be dead,” BBC noted recently. These hostages will be exchanged in return for nearly 2000 Palestinian terrorists, including 250 who are currently serving life sentences — mostly for murderous crimes, Israeli news reports suggest.

Prime Minister Netanyahu laid out the two-pronged strategy pursued to force Hamas to release the hostages:
To bring back our remaining 48 hostages, a few weeks ago I instructed the IDF to enter the most important Hamas stronghold – Gaza City.
Concurrently, I coordinated a diplomatic move with President Trump and his team that instantly flipped the script. Instead of Israel being isolated – Hamas is isolated.
As a result of the intense military pressure we applied and the diplomatic pressure, Hamas was pressured into agreeing to the plan we presented.
In the first stage, Hamas will release all of our hostages, and IDF forces will redeploy in a way that the IDF will continue to hold all of the controlling areas deep inside the Strip.
As the war with Hamas and Iranian terrorist proxies nears the two-year mark, Prime Minister Netanyahu recalled the “breaking of the Iranian axis of evil” and “the existential threat of nuclear bombs and ballistic missiles from Iran” under his watch.
“This is a historic achievement that will be recorded in the annals of Israel and also in the annals of nations,” he said. “I thank my friend, our friend, President Trump, who assisted this historic operation by dispatching the B2 planes to bomb the nuclear facility in Fordo, and I thank him for his steadfast support.”
On Sunday, Netanyahu noted that President Trump was “determined” to ensure Hamas fulfills its side of the bargain. The 20-point plan requires Hamas to release all hostages within 72 hours of accepting the agreement. The terrorist group will receive no concessions from Israel unless every single hostage is freed, he said.
The Times of Israel reported Netanyahu’s remarks:
Meeting with members of the right-wing Gvura Forum, which represents families of soldiers killed in action in Gaza, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says no other element of US President Donald Trump’s plan for a Gaza ceasefire will move ahead until every single hostage is released.
“Until the first clause — the release of all the hostages, living and dead — until the last of the hostages, all of them, is transferred to Israeli territory, we will not move on to any other clause,” Netanyahu pledges, according to Hebrew language media.
If Hamas doesn’t release the hostages “by the end of the time set by President Trump,” he says, Israel will go back on the offensive in Gaza “with the full backing of all the countries involved.”
“Trump’s pressure is increasing,” he tells the group in the 40-minute meeting in Jerusalem. “Trump will not hesitate to wait longer than he has allotted. This time, he is determined.”
Trump: Hamas to face “complete obliteration” if it refuses to hand over power in Gaza
President Trump, on Sunday, warned that Hamas would face “complete obliteration” if it refuses to give up control of Gaza. He also noted that Netanyahu was “committed to peace,” and he wanted Hamas to make up its mind “soon.”
CNN reported:
President Donald Trump told CNN Hamas faces “complete obliteration” if the group refuses to cede power and control of Gaza, amid ongoing efforts to push forward his proposed ceasefire plan.
The president said he expects clarity “soon” on whether Hamas is genuinely committed to peace. (…)
“Yes on Bibi,” Trump said, when asked if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is fully on board with ending the bombing campaign in Gaza and supporting the president’s broader vision.
Trump added that he is hopeful his ceasefire proposal will become a reality and emphasized that he’s working hard to achieve it.
Writing on Truth Social, President Trump shared a map of Gaza, depicting the “initial withdrawal line” that Israel had agreed to. The “Ceasefire will be IMMEDIATELY effective” if Hamas agrees to the terms, he said on Saturday.

I’ll believe it when the hostages are in safe terrority
Is John Kerry going to advise Hamas again?
It’s diarrhea Israel must give back jailed terrorists
Mi would send them back in body bags
Yeah, I don’t like the terrorist exchange. Maybe Israel could return the pali prisoners in pieces. One piece per Israeli hostage return.
Sucker’s bet. This will backfire.
I think Bibi knows that but is trying to get all the hostages out before it blows up
Great pun! 😂
This will be the last ultimatum that Trump gives. If he blows this one, he can forget being respected by the evil forces of the world. He must stick to the 72 hour limit that he set. This one threat that he can’t back out of.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Hamas in a fit of pique just kills the currently alive hostages before giving them back.
As for returning the 2000 arabs, the ratio of live to dead hostage is 20/48 or 5/12. Basically 1/3 alive. I’d kill 2/3 of the arabs to be returned and return just their bodies to give everything nice and equitable.
Fortunately there are adults in charge and not people like you. Actually, there are people like you involved in this but why are all on Hamas’s side 🙄
Oh please cry me a river. You do know what happens to the 2000 after release. They rearm and are right back to terrorism. There is nothing like staffing your enemy.
If it was up to me I’d take only the minimum prisoner and those for intelligence purposes. The rest, well dead terrorists don’t commit more terrorist acts. As for the ones squeezed for intelligence, afterwards, a convenient disappearance. Maybe shot while escaping.
BTW: You got to love the personnel attacks when you disagree. Says much about you, doesn’t it?
How is there a question?
Either Hamas has or has not accepted all of Trump’s demands, and if it hasn’t either Netanyahu is or is not alright with Hamas retaining control of Gaza essentially winning the war in return for the remaining hostages.
Hungary can’t veto the coming EU sanctions on Israel, and I do not think Israel has 15 countries to vote against the EU sanctions.
Europe is not replaceable, 77 nations publicly declared they will not even remain in the room when the representative of Israel speaks.
If Hamas has rejected Trump’s terms and that is alright with Netanyahu he just wants the hostages the time for Netanyahu to admit it was yesterday at the latest. If Hamas has rejected Trump’s terms and Netanyahu wants to eliminate Hamas the time to physically take Gaza is now with the caveat it is 2 years late.
Give up, or I’ll threaten you again.
That isn’t fair because it is Netanyahu not Trump who decides how to go forward if Hamas doesn’t agree to the surrender/peace deal Trump is proposing.
Trump has been flawless in terms of Israel policy, the big question is if Netanyahu will actually pick the result of the war or if it lasts forever. Trump has clearly given him permission to pick a fast victory with the elimination of Hamas or withdrawal in return for hostages.
The question is if Netanyahu is capable of making decisions right now, not if Trump stands against terrorism.
The 2AM Israel time deadline came and went.
Absolutely nothing happened.
The deal is as dead as a doornail and worth just as much.
And now…
What credibility?
Let’s get real. Hamas is already hedging on the “deal” and is just buying time to re-arm. Lucy and the football once more. Israel may get the hostages back but Hamas is going nowhere and sure as hell isn’t laying down it’s arm’s
Why should it when they can murder Jews at will, get billions of international “aid” and have a state recognized as a reward?
This ‘peace plan’ is simply a rehashing of the last 32 years of the disastrous – for Israel – ‘peace’ process. Oh, let’s give the Fakestinians money. Let’s deradicalize them. Let’s build things for them and give them jobs and healthcare and leisure activities. And then we’ll have peace. The problems are that (1) the Land belongs to the Jewish People; and (2) The folks who live in Judea, Samaria and Gaza have a different definition of ‘peace’ than you and I do. To them, ‘peace’ means that they rule with an iron fist and if they let me live, it’s as a subjected and heavily taxed 3rd class citizen, and this includes all of the area that remains of the state of Israel. I was dragged out of Gaza by the IDF twenty years ago seemingly ‘for peace’. How’d that work out for us?
The only way to achieve actual peace in the area is to pay those that can’t accept Jewish sovereignty to leave. It can be a quarter million dollars per family, or any number chosen. 900,000 Jews were expelled from there homes in Muslim countries after Israel declared independence, and the transfer must be completed. And don’t tell me about the ‘nakba’. Not one arab would’ve left there homes in 48 if 7 arab armies hadn’t attacked Israel. And of the 500-600k that left, over 90% left of their own volition at the urging of their fellow Arabs.
