Mystery Donor Gives $130 Million to Pay the Troops

Mystery Donor Gives $130 Million to Pay the Troops

Don’t know if Trump can use it though without Congress.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell told Fox News that a mystery donor gave the Defense Department $130 million to pay the troops during the shutdown:

“On October 23, 2025, the Department of War accepted an anonymous donation of $130 million under its general gift acceptance authority,” Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said in a statement to Fox News Digital Friday. “The donation was made on the condition that it be used to offset the cost of Service members’ salaries and benefits. We are grateful for this donor’s assistance after Democrats opted to withhold pay from troops.”

But it’s unclear how the Trump administration can legally use the funds to pay troops without Congress’ involvement.

While the government may accept general donations that go toward general funds available to the government, Congress must appropriate that money to go toward federal employees’ salaries, according to Romina Boccia, the director of budget and entitlement policy at the Cato Institute, a libertarian think tank in Washington.

Boccia said Congressional intervention is needed.

Private donations go towards “military schools, libraries, and museums, or to support service members or civilian employees who are wounded or killed in the line of duty.”

The move comes after the Senate Democrats voted down a proposal to pay the troops.

The Democrats did this despite the bill leaving committee with a vote of 26-3.

DONATE

Donations tax deductible
to the full extent allowed by law.

This should be entertaining. The administration ignores the negative press and pays the troops then the Democrats sue.

You can’t buy that kind of advertising for the mid terms.

Apparently, Congress needs to authorize using the funds this way, but how could they not?

Think that you’re going to get any of the Communist traitors to go along with that idea?

Because Schumer says they will not authorize any spending bill that does not include their pork-barrel spending and ACA tax credits. So I assume any bill that authorized the use of this donated $130 million to pay the troops would be stalled in the Senate if it did not include those items as Republicans don’t have the 60 Senate votes necessary to pass the bill.

130M should just about cover the salaries of the bloated general (and admiral) staff.

I can’t even imagine having that kind of money

Just use it and make the Democrats go to court to fight it.

Instead of pay per se, issue chits for loans, to be repaid when regular pay re-established.

I’m guessing it will be paid back to then when the shutdown ends.

The optics of this are astounding 😂

Democrats would happily support giving money to illegal aliens but will twist themselves in to pretzels to NOT use this money to pay the troops.

Pray Democrats aren’t this stupid 😂😂

Not very many persons who can afford to write a check for $130 million – even many “billionaires” don’t have that much in liquid assets immediately available without having to take out a bank loan (at interest) or sell an asset at bargain basement prices.

If the mystery donor isn’t Elon his-own-self (or Trump himself – but if it was T he’d have a hard time not taking credit for it) it’s a third very very rich person who saw how the TDS crowd tried by fair means or foul (mostly foul) to destroy T and Elon and doesn’t want to paint a target on his own back for the deranged among the (D)s to target him.

Efforts at anonymity may be wasted – several SOMEONES in govt has to handle receiving the funds – and chances are one of those someones will have TDS as a motive to dox the person.

I agree….use it and let Upchuck and the Frito Bandito go to court to stop it.

FWIW: the US military payroll is in the area of $190 Billion per year (sources vary). That is roughly $8 Billion paid bi-monthly, or $500 MIllion per day.

I think we can appreciate the gesture while noting that $130MM covers much less than one day’s pay. Maybe until the first coffee break?

In any case, its a fun headline and an opportunity for Dems to face-plant, but hardly a solution to getting these guys and gals paid.
