Kamala’s Profanity-Laced — and Incredibly Ironic — Reaction to Trump’s Ballroom

Former Vice President Kamala Harris appeared Thursday as a guest on comedian Jon Stewart’s eponymous podcast. During an interview that covered a wide range of topics, Stewart asked for her thoughts on President Donald Trump’s construction of a ballroom at the White House. The explosive, profanity-laced response that followed — quickly going viral on social media — was nothing short of extraordinary.

In the clip below, Harris told Stewart:

Are you f*cking kidding me? This guy wants to create a ballroom for his rich friends while completely turning a blind eye to the fact that babies are going to starve when the SNAP benefits end in just hours from now! Come on!I’m not going to be distracted by, ‘Oh, does the guy have a big f*cking hammer?’ What about those babies?

To begin with, as many have noted in the public debate over the ballroom, the White House genuinely needs a proper entertainment venue — something it has long lacked. Undoubtedly, future presidents of both parties will appreciate this valuable addition.

Moreover, the project comes at no cost to taxpayers; it is being funded entirely by Trump and private donors.

Yet the most striking aspect of Harris’s meltdown was the strange and irrelevant connection she drew between the ballroom and babies going hungry. The two issues, of course, are entirely unrelated. Even more ironic — and perhaps most hypocritical of all—was that this fierce defender of extreme abortion rights suddenly professed concern for the well-being of babies. As if access to abortion in the U.S. weren’t already extensive, she ran on a platform of expanding it even more.

And Harris was so concerned about children’s welfare during her service as border czar that the Biden-Harris administration lost track of approximately 300,000 immigrant children. Although the Trump administration has located a fraction of those missing children, they have a long way to go.

Furthermore, if she’s truly worried about Americans losing access to SNAP and Women’s, Infants, and Children’s Nutrition Program benefits, she should use her influence to pressure her Democratic colleagues to end the shutdown. Since her party is effectively holding these programs hostage to its unreasonable demands, doing so would help ensure that “those babies” remain healthy.

Here are a few reactions to Harris’s rant on social media.
