Harvard Medical School Cancels ‘Pro-Palestine Vigil’ by Student Groups

These groups need to be sent a message. This is inappropriate. They just want to take over everything.

Harvard med school puts kibosh on students’ ‘pro-Palestine vigil’
Harvard Medical School allegedly canceled at the last minute a pro-Palestinian vigil organized by a pair of student groups, citing rules regarding “distributing and posting event flyers without authorization.”
According to The Crimson, the med school’s Student Alliance for Health Equity in Palestine and Student Human Rights Collaborative initially were given the green light for the event, but were informed just “five hours before it was slated to begin” that it had been scrapped.
Dean of Medical Education Bernard Chang, Dean for Students Jennifer Potter, and Director of Student Affairs Sheryl O’Brien noted in an email that both groups had “repeatedly violated policies on event promotion, on-campus gatherings, and collaboration with unauthorized student organizations.”
One of the unauthorized groups was Harvard Out of Occupied Palestine, the brainchild behind last year’s pro-Gaza encampment in Harvard Yard.
In SAHEP’s Instagram advertisements for the vigil, it initially notes it is for “Harvard affiliates only,” but in the very slide the group “invites all”:
The vigil is the first event to be canceled “entirely” under the med school’s (campus) use rules, “rolled out shortly” after the 2024 encampment.
The SAHEP said in a statement it tried to follow the policies “to the best of [its] abilities.”
“Our intent as co-organizers of this vigil was to mourn the hundreds of thousands of people that Israel has massacred in Gaza in their ongoing genocide and campaign of ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people,” the SAHEP said in a statement. “This vigil was an avenue for our community to stand together in grief and solidarity.”

A bunch of loser Harvard Medical students who never understood what was going on. I hope my local doctors are never one of these people.
On another thread while discussing what to do with Harvard I suggested keeping the medical school. I changed my mind. Burn it down too and if the STEM programs are infected as well burn it down as well.
I was a med school professor before the DEI infection existed but a few years ago looked into openings for a part-time appointment. As soon as I saw that I was required to provide a narrative discussing my commitment to DEI and what I had done in concrete examples of how I had implemented DEI principles in my professional practice, I knew that not only would I never be hired but also it was no place that I wanted to be. It will take a complete change of faculty and staff to return the institution to its prior status as an outstanding institution.
The 100,000s of killed palestinians even Hamas own wacko inflated numbers aren’t that much of a bold face lie. Apparently math not good for snotty Ivy league med school students., How about a vigil for the palestinians murdered by other palestinians, or do those people not count? Or is it still math hurt too much?
In what masquerades as progressive thought arabs killed by arabs doesn’t matter, genocide in black african countries doesn’t matter, and black on anyone else violence doesn’t matter. Move along now. Nothing to see.
Just a black lives matter, but only if they AREN’T taken by other blacks. They only matter if a white person is involved in taking them. Talk about pathological cynicism….
According to hamas itself, about 0.6–zero point six—hundred thousand died. And even hamas refuses to say what percentage of those were combatants. Soldiers die in combat—that’s how war works.
