CNN Issues Rare Fact Check on Democrats Over Trump Ballroom Lie

Democrats and some in the mainstream press have lost their minds over the demolition work being done on White House grounds for the new ballroom, as evidenced by the meltdowns that commenced after images and video hit social media of parts of the East Wing coming down.

Legal Insurrection reported on the Democrat/media hysteria last week.

“Seeing the White House torn apart is really emblematic of the times we’re in,” Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN) tweeted, even though the White House itself is not being “torn apart.”

“No president should be able to do what trump is doing to the White House right now. He doesn’t own the place,” newly minted Democrat and confirmed Trump hater (and former GOP congressman) Joe Walsh wrote on X. “WE do. It’s OUR house. We’re just letting him live there for four years. He can’t tear down walls and sh*t. It’s OUR house.”

As the week wore on, the more peeved the Usual Suspects got. And on Thursday, they pounced and seized on a video clip of White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt seemingly saying during the daily press briefing that the ballroom was President Donald Trump’s “main priority” period.

Many Democrat members of Congress also shared the clip along with thoughts similar to Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s, as did California Gov. Gavin Newsom:

The problem here, though, is that Leavitt was specifically discussing the possibility of future White House renovations, not Trump’s overall priorities, as anyone who actually watched the exchange in the video— instead of relying on the predictably misleading translations from Meidas Touch senior digital editor Acyn Torabi — would have known.

It was so flagrant that CNN “fact checker” Daniel Dale even went so far as to set the record straight, especially after Democrats began sharing an even shorter version of the clip that completely left out the context of Leavitt’s remarks:

A reporter asked press secretary Karoline Leavitt at a Thursday briefing: “In addition to the ballroom and the Rose Garden patio, is the president looking at any other renovations or significant kind of projects here at the White House?”

Leavitt responded: “Not to my knowledge, no. But he’s a builder at heart, clearly. And so his heart and his mind is always churning about how to improve things here on the White House grounds. But at this moment in time, of course, the ballroom is really the president’s main priority.”

So Leavitt was clearly referring to the planned new ballroom as Trump’s main priority for White House renovations. But on social media, various Democratic members of Congress have cut out the first part of the exchange to make it sound like she was saying the ballroom was Trump’s overall main priority.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) also shared the deliberately shortened version:

When you’re a Democrat and you’ve lost Daniel Dale, even for just a moment, you know you’ve done wrong.
