Spicer Compares Charlie Kirk Assassination to Attempts on Trump: ‘They’re Going After the Movement’

Sean Spicer, the former White House press secretary in Trump’s first term, weighed in on the assassination of Charlie Kirk during Mark Halperin’s ‘2Way’ program yesterday, saying that he is struggling with the fact that he is a Christian, but is also ‘pissed.’
Spicer compared the murder of Kirk to the attempted murder of Trump, suggesting that the people who are doing this are not just going after individuals, they are targeting the leaders of a movement.
Teri Christoph of RedState has transcribed some of Spicer’s comments:
SPICER: I am conflicted because I’m sad for Charlie and his family and what happened. But I’m pissed. As a Christian, I don’t know how to reconcile that sometimes.
I’m tired of the left, the rhetoric. Charlie, what he symbolized was a movement. What he did in leading this movement, in putting himself out there can’t be overstated.
This violence, in all of its forms, is wrong. But when you go after Donald Trump and try to kill him twice — they’re not just going after people who are activists, they’re going after leaders of movements and trying to stop them. Not just stop the people, but the movement. And that’s the big difference here. Violence and extremism and craziness is one thing, but when you’re trying to silence Trump and you’re trying to silence Charlie Kirk, you’re not just going after them personally, you’re going after the entire movement. And I don’t think people fully appreciate that.
At that point, Mark Halperin jumped in with a few comments about Kirk’s reach.

HALPERIN: I talked to more than a few Democrats yesterday who had heard of Charlie Kirk. They know who he is. They knew some of what he did, but two things struck me in every one of the conversations.
They don’t appreciate how significant he was as a force for the movement, but they don’t appreciate the bond that people in MAGA have towards him, not just the president, whose bonds are quite substantial, but kids all over the country, some who have met him, some who hadn’t, some who are at MAGA, and some who are not. They do not understand how this young man was able to reach so many people in an emotional way. They’re acting like some Republican operative got killed, and we don’t know who did it, so how upset can we be?
They do not understand, and that’s part of what I think they have to understand, because you don’t have it. You don’t have anybody like Charlie Kirk.

We are at war.
Not because we want to be, because they’ve declared war on us and have already initiated hostilities. We can pretend that it isn’t what it is all we want, but pretending doesn’t change the facts.
Every leader on the left has declared us evil, Nazi, Hitler, white supremacist racist enemies. When they tell us what they think of us, we should believe them…because I can assure you, their ground troops believe them…hence the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the attempted assassination of Trump. Twice. The attacks on schools. The attacks on Jewish Americans. The attempts on Supreme Court justices. I could go on.
How long do we continue denying the fact that we are being made war upon and start acting accordingly?
The left is not just a political philosophy with which we have disagreements. They are the enemy. They have made themselves so by their words and their actions. We are under attack and the longer it takes for us to recognize that fact and fix bayonets, the more of our leaders and compatriots will be taken from us.

We need to greatly increase both rate and speed of Dem criminals. Perhaps contract investigators and research people to increase prosecution.

Now they get to deal with people like me who think that talking to lefties is a waste of my freaking time. I go into this understanding that it is a zero-sum situation and therefore the rules are really simple. I win they lose.
I’ve seen this point made elsewhere. The left is always whining that we all need to have a conversation. Well they killed that guy, so what’s our next move?
They claim to want to talk, but all they really want is a surrender. Not happening.

IMO Mark Halperin is correct, the assassination of Kirk is much bigger moment than the average lefty or even d/prog politician realizes. He was a ‘happy warrior’ who believed in debate and discussion and emphasized that when we stop talking/arguing/debating to deal with political differences that’s when violence becomes the method to settle the differences. He had a nearly unique ability to be relatable to anyone operating in good faith who engaged with him. Lots of younger folks watched countless videos of his performances and many attended in person events on campuses and venues across the Nation. That lefty trolls are mocking and celebrating his murder is revealing to some normies who shrug off the culture war just who the leftists really are. I suspect there’s gonna be a big up tick in folks waking away from the d/prog and wokiestas.

All this indicates is that the Democrat street army soldiers with IQs over 100 have entered the chat.
Before, it was their thugs – people whose idea of resistance was to loot and burn the establishments of their own neighbors.
Now enter the zealots who can actually walk and chew gum at the same time. They realize that targeted mayhem is more effective and produces better results.
And in a way, this is terrific for us. Remember how the Democrats were content to let Minneapolis, Seattle, and Portland burn for weeks, but swamped Washington laundry services with their own soiled undies when the mostly peaceful came to their own doorsteps on January 6? Oooooh, Pearl Harbor! Expect some of that action to rhyme once again.
Yes, it will be the GOP panicking this time, but I can’t think of a better way to shake up the RINOs, and the rest are capable.
