Spanberger Ducks on Bathrooms as Sears Seizes Opening in Governor’s Race

With Spanberger unwilling or unable to answer a simple question on where she stands, the controversy is already being wrapped tightly around her campaign.

The Virginia governor’s race has entered a critical stage, with early voting already underway. Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears is hammering Abigail Spanberger on the same issue that helped propel Glenn Youngkin to victory in 2021: whether biological males should be allowed into women’s bathrooms, locker rooms, and sports.

At a Fairfax County rally this weekend, Spanberger was pressed face-to-face on the matter by a local ABC affiliate reporter who had tried for months to get a straight answer.

“Since July, I’ve been asking Abigail Spanberger’s campaign team an email, where does she stand on this issue, and her campaign has not directly answered that question. Now, this issue of students at school using locker rooms and bathrooms based on their gender identity versus their biological sex has literally become a federal case involving the five largest school systems in Northern Virginia.”

When finally asked directly whether she supports biological males in women’s spaces, Spanberger pivoted into talking points about Donald Trump and education dollars, without answering the question.

“So can you tell us directly? Do you support biological males who say they’re women, using women’s locker rooms and bathrooms and competing in women’s sports?”

Spanberger: “Well, the circumstances this legal case plays out is really one of… there needs to be much clearer guidance in terms of what is an executive order’s binding assessment of Title IX, versus what has been a decision of a court. But ultimately, the real impact here is, once again, it is the Trump administration taking dollars away from Virginia, threatening education dollars to our public schools.”

The reporter tried again:

“But do you personally support these policies? Support them?”

Instead of clarity, Spanberger offered no direct response.

Another overlapping video shows her dodging repeated, blunt questions from the same reporter.

“Do you support these locker room or bathroom policies? Congresswoman, why can’t you answer this question directly? Congresswoman, Congresswoman, do you support these bathroom and locker rooms? Why can’t you answer these questions directly?”

She never did.

This refusal is no small matter. Bathroom and locker room policies, along with transgender participation in women’s sports, became flashpoints in Virginia politics four years ago, fueling parental outrage that helped elect Youngkin. Now, Winsome Sears is betting the same issue could close what polls show is a significant gap between her and Spanberger.

Early voting began yesterday. With Spanberger unwilling or unable to answer a simple question on where she stands, the controversy is already being wrapped tightly around her campaign.

Where do you sit on men in women’s bathrooms.

Clearly, she is OK with naked men in women facilities.

“But do you personally support these policies? Support them?”
“Don’t ask me. I’m not a biologist sexual assault counselor.”

Typical liberal response to any question that makes them squirm: “but Trump.”

The men in women’s sports was a lot bigger issue than the msm made it in 2024 election and it will be huge in VA. Plus, people saw how Kamala dodged every tough question and they didn’t like it.

“The audience at a leftist University siding with a pro-life argument may signal a shift among young people”

Or it may simply be more proof that the “noisy 10%” of kids who we thought represented the tenor of these institutions do not in fact do so, and the real majority is no longer cowed to express their opinions (especially if the vote was by secret ballot, which the video doesn’t go long enough to show).

When politicians refuse to engage and answer basic questions with straightforward answers they reveal they not only have something to hide but that they don’t have faith in their own ideological narrative.

I don’t think it’s a matter of faith. She supports men being in women’s showers. She just doesn’t have the balls (literally) to say it.

So taking a leaf out of the “Democrat running for office” playbook and just side stepping any kind of interview, debate, questions” until election day???

Title IX prohibited discrimination based on sex, not gender identity. Obama decided that wasn’t good enough and men who thought they were women would be treated like women under the law. Once again, Obama screws something up, everyone else pays the price.

Obama and Burden (intentional) allowed to change anything he wanted with the swipe of his pen and phone. Congress be damned.

But Trump is required to follow the Administrative Procedure requirements to change it back.

Title IX prohibited discrimination based on sex, not gender identity.

The other side claims this is a false distinction. Sex is gender identity. When a man says he is a woman he magically becomes one. Sort of like transsubstantiation: he has the accidents of a man, but the substance of a woman.

We lost Joan Rivers when she revealed the truth about Big Mike.

She can’t answer that question…it’s one of those 80/20 lose-lose issues for the left.

80% of the population opposes men invading women’s spaces and sports.

But the 20% lefty fringe that supports it IS the democrat base.

If she says she opposes it, she loses her base voters and loses the election.
If she says she supports it, she loses the “independent voters” who are in the 80% and loses the election.

She will spend the entire campaign refusing to answer questions like these in the hopes that enough of the “independent voters” aren’t paying enough attention to notice.

Sears is doing a pretty good job hammering on the issue in ads. I can see this incident becoming the basis for another ad campaign.

Keep asking her.
“If you were taking a shower in a locker room would you be comfy with a random, unknown man taking off his clothes and getting in with you”? “Do you think adolescent girls should be forced to strip in front of grown men”?
Pretty simple questions

Spanberger is definitely for they/them

Now would be an opportune time to send Winsome (another) donation.
