MSNBC Fires Matthew Dowd Over Nasty Comments About Charlie Kirk
“And I always go back to hateful thoughts, lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions.”
MSNBC fired political analyst Matthew Dowd after he suggested it’s Charlie Kirk’s fault someone assassinated him, according to Variety.
At first, MSNBC president Rebecca Kutler apologized for Dowd’s comments, posting her statement on the little-used MSNBC public relations X account.
Dowd said right after Kirk was shot:
DOWD: Yeah, again, I emphasize what you just emphasize. We don’t know any details of this, that we don’t know if this was a supporter shooting their gun off in celebration or so. We have no idea about this. But following up with what was just said, he’s been one of the most divisive, especially divisive younger figures in this who is constantly sort of pushing this sort of hate speech or sort of aimed at certain groups.
And I always go back to hateful thoughts, lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. And I think that’s the environment we’re in that people just you can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have, and then saying these awkward words and not expect awful actions to take place. And that’s the unfortunate environment we’re in.
The despicable ghouls at MSNBC immediately attack Charlie Kirk in wake of shooting — Matthew Dowd blames Kirk's pushing “hate speech” as reason he was shot:

Dowd attempted to walk back his comments:
Dowd tried to backtrack on the liberal social media platform Bluesky.
“On an earlier appearance on MSNBC I was asked a question on the environment we are in. I apologize for my tone and words. Let me be clear, I in no way intended for my comments to blame Kirk for this horrendous attack. Let us all come together and condemn violence of any kind,” Dowd wrote.

Charlie Kirk was the opposite of a hateful person.
Dowd deserves every bit of opprobrium he’s getting right now, including the loss of a paycheck. I’d add a few additional punishments but I’ll keep them to myself. For now.
However, the entire MSLSD network is a disgrace. My hope is that NBCUniversal’s efforts to spin off the network fail completely, and they’re forced to shut it all down.
I won’t. Dowd deserves to be fire out of a cannon. As for PMSNBC they and everyone that works for them deserve any and all misery that comes their way, They’re all despicable human beings and that is using the term human being in the broadest way possible, Really most of the main stream media is this way. You know behind the somber faces they are all celebrating.
why do you hate free speech, we may find his comments disgusting, but in effect and to a much lesser degree you are advocating a response that is the same as the shooter
Why do you tolerate people who lie and misinform? They can and do say what they want but for most of them there are no consequences for most of the time. Free speech does not mean freedom without consequences.
Freedom from consequences isn’t part of freedom of speech.
Where did he say he hated free speech? Where did he advocate shooting the idiot Dowd?
“Fired from a cannon” isn’t even remotely the same as “shoot him in the head.”
As Henry said below, freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom from consequences.
And with that Dowd became a Communist martyr. The Left is all-in on assassination chic, and Dowd is their newest prophet. Honorary PhDs, glowing articles, fawning interviews, book deals – and just perhaps a sinecure in a possible Newsom or Harris administration.
We need to prevent that. He should never get a job working with ideas again. He is 64 so I feel like this is a good time for him to become a retired person.
“Let me be clear, I in no way intended for my comments to blame Kirk for this horrendous attack.”
You absolutely intended exactly that, Matt. You’re an ignorant, vicious, hateful person and have been for years. You never faced any consequences for it, though. Until now.
The first thoughts and words are your beliefs. Anything after that is the attempt to save your ass.
And he thought to throw in anyone that agreed with Kirk as the potential killer. He and the bunch of the TDSers need to attempt to grasp what shreds of sanity still clinging to their minds.
“Let us all come together and condemn violence of any kind, you Fascists”

Poor journalism even if it turns out to be right.
It just sounds like ineffective rhetoric to me.
Shortest path through a thesaurus from hateful to beneficent
hateful despicable abject submissive respectful gracious beneficent
Just put up a pointer to where on the scale you want to put something and it may tone down the hate.
When the path is done right (it’s an algorithm) any three words in a row mean the same thing in come context, so working your way to an opposite brings up a series of contexts.
The hate speech that comes from your newsrooms to the ears of the mentally unstable Left is what incites violence, good sir.
The leftists openly celebrating the murder of Charlie Kirk, refusing to take an introspective look at their own contributions in creating a dangerous climate where overheated rhetoric and calls for violent acts are portrayed as ‘deserved’, ‘justified’ or ‘righteous’ must be held accountable. Any lefty goon so sociopathic that they couldn’t restrain their eagerness to dance on Kirk’s grave for even 24 hours should be fired. Any employer who refuses to do so should be shunned by the rest of society and if receiving Federal or State funds cut off from future access to public funding.
Well if he had been describing the leftists perpetrating the ACTUAL violence, I think his quote is spot on.
But instead his quote is like accusing the Jews of persecuting Palestinians by Jews simply existing.
“FIRES”
thank you
not..”parts way…or “drops” ( as I think foxnews posted
fu soft on crime pro omar pos!!
I’m assuming they kicked him upstairs to MSNOW.
Dowd switching parties as the political wind shifts. That’s his MO.
On the bright side – he’s now free to join Don Le’mon’s 487th ranked Apple podcast.
This story would be more useful if you gave us a working phone number for Mr. Dowd.
The left could show some humor with “filled a much-needed gap.”
Leftist definition of a divisive person: Anyone who hasn’t yet been bullied into following the party line, to the letter.
Leftist definition of hate speech: Anything the left has not commanded you to say.
The left handles wrongthink every bit as horrifically as L. Ron Hubbard handled “suppressive persons.”
