La Vuelta Ends in Disgrace After Anti-Israel Mob Storms Race

“The pro-Palestinian mob heard the incitement messages – and wrecked the La Vuelta cycling race.”

The Vuelta a España, one of cycling’s three great Grand Tours, ended not in triumph but in disgrace, after anti-Israel protesters stormed the course in Madrid and forced organizers to cut short the final stage.

As Reuters reported:

“Pro-Palestinian protests forced the Vuelta a Espana cycle race to be abandoned at its finale on Sunday, with Danish cyclist Jonas Vingegaard declared winner as police sought to quell demonstrations against an Israeli team’s participation.”

Instead of the traditional celebration, chaos reigned. According to the Guardian:

“The final stage of the Vuelta a España was abandoned in chaotic and violent scenes, after groups of pro-Palestine protesters swamped the finish line area and presentation podium in central Madrid on Sunday.”

This was not peaceful dissent. These mobs overturned barriers, hurled bottles, and physically endangered athletes. Reuters noted:

“Protesters chanting ‘they will not pass’ overturned metal barriers and occupied the Vuelta route at several points in Madrid as police attempted to push them back. Two people were arrested and 22 police officers injured, the Spanish government said.”

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez openly praised the demonstrators, a move blasted as reckless. Reuters quoted Israel’s foreign minister Gideon Saar:

“Today he encouraged demonstrators to take to the streets. The pro-Palestinian mob heard the incitement messages – and wrecked the La Vuelta cycling race.”

The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, condemned the violence:

“(It’s) violence that the prime minister is directly responsible for due to his statements today in the morning instigating the protests… Today is the saddest day since I became mayor of this great city.”

This was not just an attack on a race, but on the very integrity of international sport. As pro-Isreal commentator Eylon Levy put it:

“BREAKING: The final stage of La Vuelta, one of the world’s top cycling races, was CUT SHORT after violent anti-Israel mobs stormed the finish line—attacking cyclists over the presence of an Israeli team. This is a global terrorist movement.”

Cycling is now on notice. If Spanish radicals can wreck La Vuelta, what will happen to the Tour de France Grand Depart in Barcelona next year? The ugly precedent is set: violent agitators can destroy historic sporting events in the name of politics.

The shame belongs not only to the mob, but to the leaders who continue to excuse them.

Anyone else did the math?
This numbers make no sense. Oh wait, maybe they do.

The sobering reality not many in the mainstream media will acknowledge is: 24-years after 9/11 and decades of war spending trillions in treasure and tankers full of American blood, Islam and the Jihad it visits on all that it sees an Infidels – has never been stronger. It has metastasized throughout the West by permissive immigration policies adopted by leftwing governments. With non-Muslim birthrates in the west below the replacement rate, in another 25-years, the west is going to be absorbed as part of the Islamic caliphate simply through attrition.

53 years ago at Munich, the International Olympic Committee set the precedent that Jews -or at least Israelis- are not part of the supposed international brotherhood of sports.

It’s goose-stepping Islamofascists, Muslim supremacists and Muslim and non-Muslim terrorist sympathizers who should be fearful about showing their faces in public and spewing their hateful, genocidal, Jew-hating and Christian-hating agitprop.

Instead, these pukes have been whitewashed, coddled, lionized, funded and enabled by vile, leftist European dhimmis and American Dhimmi-crats.

We’re witnessing mass psychosis in the form of lemming-like, performative and narcissistic displays of Jew-hate — all gleefully aided and abetted by leftists and Dhimmi-crats.

Yeah, but…it was MOSTLY peaceful. /s

Twenty two police injured, two protesters arrested.

I think I see the problem here.

They celebrate the boston marathon terrorist attack now?

There are some lines that should not be crossed.

Quite seriously, does anyone here know anything about astrology? It seems that we are entering whatever is the opposite of “The Age Of Aquarius” (with its promise of ‘harmony and understanding’).

We have seen this polarization and boiling over of the populace into war multiple times throughout history: Around 1800 you had the French and American revolutions…in the 1860’s and the Austrian-Franco war.. Then World Wars l and ll…

I honestly believe we are headed towards another period of “real wars” – civil wars- because the opposing factions are solidifying and only violence and blood will sate them. Perhaps humans are some warlike version of Lemmings who periodically must allow large portions of the population to die off for a stupid reason.

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity”

When you remove Christian morals and principles from civilization, this is what you get.

Astrology serves as a way to knock expertise down by coming up with a better analysis using the stars and the planets. For example:

“Thurber’s biographers like to say astounding things such as that the loss of an eye in childhood was what accounted for his genius. For instance, according to Charles S. Holmes in _The Clocks of Columbus_, “The psychological impact of the injury was more significant than the physical … In compensation he cultivated his already crowded fantasy life … Some of the intense competitiveness which marked his character throughout his life obviously derived from this childhood injury and his natural desire to make up for it.” Holmes is not the only one who talks this way, and it is a very strange way indeed to talk. It is not unusual, of course, being just a new version of the theory of the writer as a human being manque. Or, as in this case, the writer as a baseball player manque. I suppose that Thurber’s brothers would also have been geniuses if only they had been in some way maimed early on. My suspicion is that if Thurber’s eye troubles can be said to account for anything about his life and career, they probably account for the difficulty he had seeing, for his having submitted to five eye operations, and maybe for his habit of writing short pieces, which are less physically (not psychologically) demanding than long pieces are.

“Astrology serves as a much better candidate for the Explanation of Thurber than psychology does. Thurber was born under the sign of Sagittarius, which rules, among other things, archery. The placement of the sun is what rules a man’s health, so a man born with any afflictions to the sun in Sagittarius is going to be vulnerable to health problems associated with archery. I don’t have an ephemeris handy for December 8, 1894, the date of his birth, but I bet there is either an affliction of the sun to Mercury, the planet of the eyes and of sense perception in general, or else an affliction from his sun to some planet in Gemini, Pisces, or Virgo. An affliction to Virgo, however, is made fairly unlikely by the enormous intellectual and domestic pleasure Thurber got from dogs – Virgo rules animal training. But Gemini rules dogs, so that lets Gemini as a source of affliction out. It was therefore probably an opposition to Mars in Pisces, which would also account for Thurber’s excessive dreaminess and his problems with alcohol, as well as the tenderer and more romantic spheres of experience, as Pisces rules love and all other intoxicants. I would also expect to find Uranus, the planet of the inexplicable and especially the planet of misunderstood geniuses, in the constellation Scorpio, which rules erotic thought, since his brilliant visions of the wars and comedies of the sexes are so persistently misunderstood.

“So his life is explained, but his life is not what Thurber left behind for us, and it is too late for me to tell him that the placement of his sun in Sagittarius indicates that he ought to have come to terms with horses …”

Doesn’t sound like something I need to worry about.

Stop using their language:

NO. They were rioters. They were a MOB. They were violent and do not earn the title of “protest.”

oh snap!!! I think my nephew is on that team.

He’s the level of pro cyclists that are sponsored and lives on a stipend. Not quite good enough to be in the tour de france, but good enough to not have to get a day job. He was on an Israeli team (don’t ask me how that works, we’re neither Israeli nor Jewish).

I know he was living/training in southern Spain.

He had almost quit because he wasn’t getting any better, but after a few months back home in Wa he discovered getting a day job was not quite as cool as the dream life he’d been living as an athlete.

I’m curious how this is playing out- his mom had been veering left in the past few years. She voted for Inslee and Ferguson every time.

    I hope he’s alright.

He was on an Israeli team (don’t ask me how that works, we’re neither Israeli nor Jewish).

This is not like the Olympics where you have to have ties to the nation or whatever.

Take a look at the roster for the now defunct “US Postal Service” team from back in the day. While the team had Americans on it, the majority were from other countries. You build an international cycling team based on getting the best available riders, not their national origin.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Postal_Service_Pro_Cycling_Team

In case of the Israel Team, they have riders from all over the world:

    https://israelpremiertech.com/riders/

Interestingly, while the team was first formed as a developmental team for Israelis in 2014, the team grew in stature and prominence. At one point they had 4-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome on it. Froome is from Britain.

The team now has a major sponsor of Premier Tech which is from Canada.

The team name was changed to “Israel – Premier Tech.”

As to your nephew, there are levels within pro cycling. Think of it like baseball. You have minor teams that the train and develop players for the majors. Cycling does the same thing with lower level teams looking to develop young riders and get them to the highest level (Pro Tour) while at the same time signing “free agent” riders from anywhere and everywhere.

To somewhat illustrate the point further, while the Pro Tour Israel – Premiere Tech team was competing in the Vuelta, their lower level team took part in the “Maryland Cycling Classic” a few weeks ago.

Cycling is one of the great meritocracy sports. If you can ride and fill a need on the team, no one on the team cares where you are from.

Good. I want more of this. Maybe people will wake up before it is too late. I doubt it though.

Spain, as you know, doesn’t have nuclear bombs, aircraft carriers, or large oil reserves,” Sánchez said in a televised speech on Monday. “We alone can’t stop the Israeli offensive. But that doesn’t mean we won’t stop trying,” he lamented.

In his speech, the Spanish prime minister went on to announce a series of measures against Israel, including a ban on ships and aircraft carrying fuel or weapons to Israel.

The PM’s statement last week set the tone for this riot. He is directly responsible for the mayhem that ensued. The Spanish people stood by as the government allowed the Muslim population swell to unprecedented number. All to bend the knee for bureaucrats at the EU.

Let the barbarians in the gate then have the PM greenlight Jew hatred and there you go.

ESPN has an article on this as well.

Some things that they mentioned were not mentioned in the OP here:

1) “Spanish authorities say more than 100,000 people took part in the protest Sunday. ”

2) Team Israel Premier Tech had removed their name from their jerseys in order to lessen tensions. (Premier Tech is a Canadian company that became a major sponsor of the Israeli team in 2000.)

3) The Vuelta race director said that cycling’s administrative body (UCI) had approved the team into the race. (Typically, team slots in a race are based on performance in other races.)

4) Next year’s Tour de France is to start in Barcelona. (INMO, that start should be pulled until Spain supports the sport.)

As a side note, team Israel Premier Tech has racers from across the globe. The actions of the mob shows that they don’t care who they hurt or endanger or what country from which the riders hail.

What would Franco do?

Bring back the Inquisition!

People: STOP. DO NOT PUT UP WITH any more of this mislabeling bullsh*t.

“Demonstrators” and “protestors” do not assault people, and/or vandalize or destroy property. Violent movs and rioters do.

“Demonstrations” and “protests” do not result in violence. Only riots do.
