Free Speech Under Fire: Over 100,000 March in London

What began as a rally became something more, a reminder that the principle of free speech is barely alive and under attack in Britain.

Free speech is under increasing attack in the United Kingdom, but this weekend, over 100,000 people showed that the fight is far from over. Tommy Robinson’s “Unite the Kingdom” rally in London drew a historic crowd, one of the largest demonstrations in recent years, dwarfing the counter-protest organized against it.

The BBC reported:

“More than 100,000 people have joined a march in central London organised by far-right activist Tommy Robinson, with a counter-protest by anti-racism campaigners also taking place.”

Meanwhile, the Independent confirmed the scale of the day’s turnout:

“More than 110,000 people are estimated to have attended the ‘Unite the kingdom’ march, while the Met Police said around 5,000 people are at an anti-racism counter-protest.”

The rally also featured a lineup of prominent speakers. The BBC noted:

“Protesters forming the ‘Unite the Kingdom’ rally have gathered in Whitehall where they are hearing a series of speeches from people including Donald Trump’s former strategist Steve Bannon.”

TV personality Katie Hopkins and actor Laurence Fox were also present, underscoring the rally’s high-profile support.

Elon Musk even made a video appearance at the rally:

Supporters on the ground highlighted both the energy and symbolism of the day. One widely shared moment came when a Palestinian flag was pulled down at the rally:

The Palestinian flag is TORN down on stage at the patriotic rally in London. British patriots only want to see this flag. 🇬🇧”

For Robinson’s supporters, the day was about reclaiming their right to speak freely. Robinson himself blasted the media narrative, writing on X:

“THERE ARE MILLIONS OUT FOR THE UNITE THE KINGDOM FREE SPEECH FESTIVAL TODAY!!!! Any mainstream media who prints anything otherwise are LYING. So feel free to call them out on their bullshit and send this video their way.”

Another video post from Westminster Bridge captured the sheer scale:

“British patriots in the MILLIONS walking over Westminster Bridge to get to the demo site. Unbelievable sight 🇬🇧🏴🏴 Credit to RISE Radio.”

The Guardian described how authorities scrambled to control the enormous crowd:

“Scotland Yard said over 1,000 officers had been deployed in a bid to prevent clashes, with barriers in place to keep a large ‘sterile area’ between the two groups.”

There have also been some tussles between police and the crowds:

As well as a moment of silence for Charlie Kirk:

Despite heavy police lines and predictable smears from the political class, the size of the march made one point unmistakable: tens of thousands of ordinary citizens are demanding their voices be heard.

What began as a rally became something more, a reminder that the principle of free speech is barely alive and under attack in Britain.

Yet if you listened to the mainstream media today you’d have absolutely no idea the protest was about free speech BUT you’d absolutely know it was organised by the far right extremist Tommy Robinson and that counter protesters (who were NEVER labelled as far left extremists) would be there to counter the hate from the right wing extremists. You’d also have no idea so many people were at the protest as all day long the media was claiming only a thousand people were there to protest.

Notice the framing by the BBC. On one side, it’s ‘far-right’ or ‘right-wing’ protestors and on the other side, it’s ‘counter-racists.’ Not even a mention by the media about the calls for free speech from the ‘far-right.’ I guess if they did, it would paint the people protesting free speech as….people protesting against free speech, an uncomfortable and wholly inconvenient truth they prefer to avoid altogether. So, they do.

Unbelievably, European/British media may actually be even more contemptible than US media. I would be interested if they’ve ever described someone of the left that they’re reporting on as ‘left-wing’ or extremist? I imagine they don’t, ever.

BBC is trash. Always has been no matter who was PM.

    F* the BBC.
If their language were any more slanted, it would be subterranean.
Really, they’re not even endeavoring to hide it. They think they’re in the catbird seat and the common citizen has to just bend over and take it.
And don’t forget — they are an arm of the government, which shows you how totally f*d the rest of it is.

Glad to see the protestors just pushed police out of the way.
British cops need to understand who they work for, and it’s not foreign invaders.
They also need to experience a taste of how futile their authoritah will be if the populace turns against them. It’s not about their bosses anymore, it’s about the numbers.

Once again a give thanks for the efforts of those who, in 1775-76, initiated the process to sever those ties. Its a good thing they did, because some 150 years later it was the descendants of them who had built the industrial juggernaut that saved Britain and the continent. Twice.

And still they cannot see the evidence of the power of the free-thinking man.

And also the fact that (at least until the globalists found the Philosophers’ Stone) they were regularly outperformed in quality-of-life metrics by the tiny continent to which they exiled all their undesirables.

So free speech is a “far right” issue. Meaning that the left opposes freedom speech.

Peaceful protest. How odd.

The little piggies were out there “just following orders”. I don’t remember the pro-Hamas marchers having to deal with police lines.

Charlie Kirk’s legacy reaches all the way to London. The leftists ignited a firestorm and they will not be able to stop it.

The UK preference cascade is turning into an avalanche.

The referenced video shows a massive number of people. The police estimate 3,000,000. This
is not to be contrary but if this video is false, then you can remove my reference.

I think he has a verifiable point about the laughable crowd size UNDERestimates. They’ve had a few ‘pro-Palestine’ marches in that exact same location over the last couple years. If you look at the aerial photography from those marches – which were estimated by the police and media to be in excess of 300K – this one looks appreciably larger. The streets today were much more densely packed for a longer distance. I don’t know what this crowd is actually closer to, 300K or 100K. But, it sure looks significantly bigger (maybe 3x) than the crowd at a University of Michigan game, which is roughly 110K.

Ordinary Brits are gonna decide the issue one way or the other. Either they surrender to the globalist demands for open borders and loss of Western Civilization or they work to retain it. The UK elites need to decide which side they are on before it gets to the point of anyone not loudly, explicitly, publicly on Team Historical Britain is automatically declared to be on Team Multiculturalism. Not a lot of runway left before that happens, IMO.

Having lived cutesy of the USAF in England 2 years have a affection to England. Do really hope they can get out from under the Socialists and Muslims. This is the first thing in many years that gives me some hope.

Subotai Bahadur | September 13, 2025 at 7:21 pm

Six months from now, how many of the 100,000+ will have been arrested by HM Government for hate speech because of their presence?

LibraryGryffon in reply to Subotai Bahadur. | September 13, 2025 at 7:30 pm

If the UK gov’t starts that route, they have a problem. There aren’t enough jails to hold 300K+. I suppose they could just give them all ASBOs, but if every one of them ignored it, they don’t have enough police to track them all down, just to give them all more ASBOs. What’s that line: “Become ungovernable”?

I never thought I’d live to see the day when the right wing would become the cool ones giving the middle finger to the establishment, and the left wing becoming the sniveling self-righteous twatty ones going around shaming everyone.
–“SEX PISTOL” JOHN LYDON

The only people calling the crowd 100,000 were the BBC and the Guardian, both left wing rags. People there are saying the crowd is over a million plus. One marcher said it took over three minutes of a drone flying over the crowd to reach the end of it. The next step is the one that counts and it will require a leader. Someone who can keep the ferver up and they must choose one item that they demand, not a litnay.

“I know my rights! Dunnage. Cowhage-in-ordinary. Badinage and prognostickage. Sneezzing and knezzing. Cheese-paring-in-the-hedge! If this goes on I shall claim the right of access to the back passages!”

Is it possible to get honest reporting on who Tommy Robinson even is? I would like to go to the internet and educate myself but I think no matter where I turn I will find bias. What a cesspool this “age of information” has become.

In the words of Twisted Sister…. “We’re not gonna take it. No we aint gonna take it. No we’re not gonna take it, anymore.”
