Colorado Teen Who Died Saving Classmates From School Shooter Being Petitioned for Sainthood
“Castillo was fatally shot in the struggle, but his actions gave classmates the chance to disarm the attackers.”
This is pretty cool. A petition has already been delivered to the Diocese of Colorado Springs.
FOX News reports:
Teen who sacrificed his life stopping school shooter could be declared a saint by Catholic Church
A Colorado teenager who died tackling a school shooter to save his classmates is now being considered for sainthood — a move parishioners say reflects his extraordinary courage and faith.
Kendrick Castillo, 18, was killed on May 7, 2019, when he charged one of the gunmen who opened fire at STEM School Highlands Ranch, just days before graduation. His selfless act allowed classmates to subdue the attackers and prevented what could have been a much larger tragedy.
“You cannot overstate the heroism of Kendrick Castillo,” George Brauchler, who prosecuted the case, told Fox News Digital. “And on that particular day, if you said in classroom 107, who’s going to be your hero that averts a mass murder? I don’t know if he’s in the top half. I just think that people would have written him off as not that guy, but he turns out to be that guy.”
The shooting erupted inside a British literature class that had gathered to watch “The Princess Bride” as an end-of-year reward. Two assailants, Devon Erickson, then 18, and accomplice Alec McKinney, then 16, carried out the attack.
During the shooting, Castillo and fellow students Joshua Jones and Brendan Bialy rushed Erickson. After firing four shots, Erickson’s weapon jammed.
Castillo was fatally shot in the struggle, but his actions gave classmates the chance to disarm the attackers. He was the only student killed, while eight others were injured.
Brauchler, who also prosecuted the Columbine High School and Aurora theater shooting, described Castillo as “a miracle baby” and the only child to his parents, John and Maria Castillo.
“They renamed the street near the school Kendrick Castillo Way,” Brauchler said. “And now he’s cleared the first hurdle toward canonization in the Catholic Church he loved so much. It’s really an incredible story.”

According to the petition submitted to the Pope, the first miracle laid to his credit was that his Colorado school didn’t immediately suspend him.
If staff had been armed, maybe he would be alive today. Liberals are making it necessary to be ready to impose justice at the drop of a hat.
Hero yes, saint no. Roman Catholic saints are something different though so …?
As I understand it, the Christian definition of a saint is simply anyone who is in Heaven. The question is only how to determine whether someone is indeed there. The Roman Catholic Church has procedures for making a positive determination that someone is indeed a saint; failure to make it through this process doesn’t mean the person isn’t a saint, but only that their status is not known with sufficient certainty for the Church to officially recognize it.
So the more likely one thinks this young man is in Heaven, the more likely one is to recognize him as a saint, and ask for his intercession. If there is a verified miracle attributed to such a request then he can be beatified, and with a second miracle he can be canonized, but none of that can affect what he actually is.
but read the sentencing for these 2 as the mastermind A TRANS was given the chance for parole:
On January 2, 2020, McKinney pleaded not guilty to first degree murder and other charges.[56] On February 7, 2020, McKinney pleaded guilty to 17 charges in a plea bargain with the prosecution. On the first degree murder charge, he faced a minimum sentence of 40 years to life in prison, but could be eligible for release earlier than that if he enters a rehabilitation program and earns time off for good behavior. Due to his age he could not be given the death penalty or life without parole.[57][2] He was sentenced to life with a chance of parole in 40 years, plus 38 years, on May 18.[58]
and thats exaclty my point
how did once again
we allow the lefty narrative to take place instead of common sense:
he/it/they …. were under the age of 18 so fn what
re write the laws
You can’t “rewrite” this law. The Supreme Court says it’ll take 2/3 of each house of Congress, plus majorities in both houses of 38 state legislatures.
And the students were the “First Responders” to the attack. The law enforcement cleaned up the mess. This is another example of why armed faculty who are *at the scene* should be the norm.
The LDS church in Michigan this week is another example. The brave faculty and adults were shielding the children against the attacker … but were not armed to make a counter-attack to stop him, nor trained in improvised weapons to disable him.
More than that, the attackers should never have been able to get in the building. Reinforce and lock the entrance and put a guard there. If necessary, have metal detectors.
I’m surprised none of the Mormons were armed. They’re generally encouraged to be heavily armed and self-sufficient. I’m not Mormon or from Michigan so I don’t know what their rules are for actually carrying in church.
The following comes from John Farnham’s Sept 29th email …. He’s a nationally recognized defensive arms trainer…. Look him up for the full letter.
“…. When the LDS Church was young, Brigham Young delivered his sermons while wearing (openly) two revolvers!
Unfortunately, that fiery spirit has long-since been pooh-poohed, and eventually suffocated, by the current generation of oh-so “sophisticated” Church “leadership.”
The same sad epitaph applies to the vast majority of modern Christian denominations!
LDS Church hierarchy not only discourages church attendees from carrying concealed guns, even among their own in-good-standing members who are properly licensed by the State, the practice is specifically disallowed!
“Churches are dedicated for the worship of God, and as havens from the cares and concerns of the world. The carrying of lethal weapons, concealed or otherwise, within their walls is inappropriate and prohibited, except for LEOs” (evidently, LEOs don’t deserve insulation from “the cares and concerns of the world”)
Blindly obey stupid “rules” (nonchalantly imposed by the uncaring and insulated elite) if you wish, but at your peril!
….
When someone makes your personal freedom an “option,” you can be assured they have made you “optional” as well!
