Clemson Prof Purges Social Media Accounts After Apparently Mocking Charlie Kirk’s Murder

“no one mourns the wicked”

People are getting fired all over the place for this. We will see more people nuking their social media as they try to escape that fate.

Campus Reform reports:

Clemson professor purges social media accounts after apparently mocking Charlie Kirk’s murder

A Clemson University professor appears to have wiped his social media accounts after posting and sharing messages that mocked the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Melvin Earl Villaver Jr., an assistant professor of audio technology and global black studies in Clemson’s Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, appears to have reposted and commented on multiple X posts ridiculing Kirk after his murder at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10.

Screenshots shared by Clemson College Republicans show an account apparently belonging to Villaver, “Melvin Earl, Ph.D.,” reposting a message that read, “no one mourns the wicked.” Another repost mocked Kirk’s views on empathy, saying, “keep the jokes coming. it’s what he would’ve wanted.”

The account also posted original comments, writing, “Twitter After Death” and “Can’t speak in public no more. Think about the ramifications.”

Other reposts from his account included a message saying Kirk was “worried about DEI and DIED instead,” and, “Charlie Kirk recently said to a Palestinian that there’s no such thing as Palestinians. Well now look… there’s no longer such a thing called Charlie Kirk.”

By Sept. 12, Villaver’s X profile appeared to have been deactivated or restricted, with prior posts no longer accessible to the public.

Additionally, Instagram and Facebook accounts apparently belonging to Villaver were also taken down or made private.

Villaver has taught at Clemson since 2023. According to an archived version of his now-deleted faculty biography, he integrates “Blues Epistemology” and decades of music production experience into his teaching and research. He is described as combining “artistry and expertise to provide a historical and cultural lens into today’s music scene,” drawing on his upbringing in Los Angeles.

Comments

With a mockable name like Melvin he should just STFU.

Clemson is a government university, so he can’t be fired for any of the cited tweets. But apparently he has realized that too many people can make his life difficult over them.

Precedents at other universities have shown otherwise.

Also, one Clemson employee has already been fired. She was dumb enough to ‘praise the shooter for his aim’ during an online class, which is fireable due to breaking the code of conduct. Obviously, that’s different than this situation but Charles Negy was fired for tweets.

South Carolina is a right to work state and he is an assisstant prof, so no tenure. Yea he can be removed. Alan Wilson is all over Clemson for this

No, he can’t be removed merely for expressing an opinion, no matter how offensive. It would be unconstitutional, and a court would order the college to rehire him with back pay.

The only way to fire him would be to show that he is no longer capale of doing his job, e.g. his students are afraid of him.

Yes, he can. The University has a policy that prohibits advocating for or supporting violence. That policy was violated, and one has already been fired and the other two are suspended, pending termination.

These fools just can’t help exposing themselves, can they? Then again, they’re all narcissists and it’s how they roll.

I feel somewhat dirty engaging in a cancellation orgy against leftists, using their unguarded moments to blackmail their employers. Then I remind myself it’s all part of using Democrat Rules against Democrats, and (unlike them) I can stop anytime I want to.

The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies. What would you expect to come out of that?

According to Thomas Sowell, “interdisciplinary” is most often a cover for “nondisciplinary.”

This guy is a professor of hip hop. They call it audio technology and black studies. What an embarrassment for a university.
