Texas Democrats will return to the state after fleeing to Illinois to evade their duties over redistricting.
Who knows when it will happen? From ABC 13:
After our initial reporting online and on television, a spokesperson for the Texas Democratic Caucus sent the following statement to ABC News:”Members are still assessing their strategies going forward and are in a private meeting to make decisions about future plans currently,” he wrote. “If and when Texas House Democrats breaking quorum decide to go home is squarely dependent on the actions the Governor, Speaker, and Texas Republicans in charge make with regard to prioritizing flood victims over redistricting that hurts Texans.”
Their hissy fit hit the national news. California Gov. Gavin Newsom leeched onto them to keep his name in the news, too. *eye roll*
Texas Senate Republicans passed a new congressional map. The House must pass it before it hits Gov. Greg Abbott’s desk.
Abbott plans to “call a second consecutive special session.”
Texas Democrats pulled the same stunt in 2021. They have a habit of acting like toddlers when they don’t get their way.
