Rep. Chip Roy Running for Texas Attorney General
“I’ll always defend the conservative values Texas families cherish, and I’ve led the fight to secure our elections, delivering real results for Texans.”
Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) announced he will run for Texas attorney general.
Roy released a video on X this morning:
In Texas, forged by cowboy grit and a pioneer spirit, unafraid to win from the Alamo to Goliad, Texas’s forefathers honored the cry for freedom, born in colonial Virginia and Massachusetts, cementing our legacy as the Lone Star State, a place like no other, anchored by liberty, freedom and self determination that Texas, the Texas of our dreams, our families and our forefathers, is under assault.
Radical Democrats and George Soros are funding DAs and liberal judges hell bent on coddling criminals and putting Texans in danger. Open border politicians have flooded our streets, hospitals, jails and schools with illegal immigrants and dangerous fentanyl empowering cartels while endangering Texans and the immigrants they use as political pawns. Liberal lawmakers are pushing to dismantle election security because fraud is their only path to power.
Baseless corporations in the Chinese Communist Party have gobbled up more and more Texas Land, while their allies in media and academia poison our culture with woke, anti-American propaganda. No more.
Today, we draw a line in the sand. Texans’ next attorney general must have a proven record of fighting to preserve, protect and defend our legacy, an attorney general unafraid to fight, unafraid to win.
That’s why I fought to secure our border and help President Trump deliver results. I prosecuted criminals and had law enforcement’s back. I stood against radical Democrats and their un-American agenda, putting Texans above corporate cronyism and global interests.
I’ll always defend the conservative values Texas families cherish, and I’ve led the fight to secure our elections, delivering real results for Texans. From the Alamo to our collective response to Hill Country floods, Texans have a long legacy of leaders willing to fight to preserve and protect our homes and communities.
I’m Chip Roy, and I’m running for attorney general of Texas. I’m running to secure our great legacy of freedom. I’m running for God, for our families and for our shared faith.
Texas has a long and proud tradition of rising to defend our homes, our freedom, and our communities.
I’m running for Attorney General to carry on that legacy… unafraid to fight, unafraid to win, and unafraid to defend Texas at every turn. #LiveFree pic.twitter.com/eqQNwx0XHm

We need to keep our fighters in Congress instead of going home to state jobs.
I agree in that if Roy leaves the House, it will be a big loss. However, Texas is in many ways at a tipping point, as the Democrats have worked very hard over many years to turn it blue, and some of the recent elections in “red” Texas have not had the results one would expect or hope for.
Roy would make a good AG and, if it is a stepping stone, a good governor one day.
Hopefully, his replacement would be another solid, unafraid conservative.
Dont lose texas to the che
by any means necessary
Chip Roy was a cheerleader of the impeachment of Ken Paxton as AG of Texas.
To hell with him then!
Yes. Yes! YES.
Ahem.
I was was wondering if a quality player would attempt to step up to replace the dubious Ken Paxton who announced his run for US Senate not too long ago.
I think Roy’s exemplary talents are wasted in a sea of 435 mostly do-nothing congress critters whose collective approval rating is lower than a snake’s pecker in a pothole.
Ken Paxton has been an ok AG, but he has a lot of dirty baggage which the TX. legislature sought to hang him with for much of his 3rd term as AG. Good riddance.
I will vote for Roy a couple o’ times, and I don’t even live in Texas.
Chip Roy is all hat and no cattle
I do live in Texas and I will NOT vote for him
Could you elaborate? What am I missing?
He hasn’t been 115% in agreement with Trump. For some, this is a crime against humanity. DeSantis is also guilty in their eyes.
Beware of the congressional primary to avoid total assholes like MTG or Thomas Massie.
If that’s what he chooses to do he has my vote.
